I feel like people tend to focus on the fact that he's very, I guess controversial, and they tend to forget or be unaware of the fact that he's a damn good lyricist.
I think it’s a very nice episode but you could have made the elders realize how Eminem also had a rough life and showed them songs like when I’m gone or cleaning out my closet. I feel like some elders were left with a wrong impression of Marshall

I disagree with the last guy, I think that’s one of the big reasons people make music; to speak their mind and influence people, in at least what they think is, in a positive way. If there were no politics or opinions in these songs then they would be so bland, and some even meaningless.

I agree with every artist who uses their position to talk to people about politics and current world issues. I see no problem with it and I feel like its a great form of communication, obviously not the best form, but still a good one. Especially considering ring that is Eminem's main form of communication.

I want to address the moment that starts at 6:54 . I completely understand his perspective. However, things such as music and art have always been used to send a message whether you agree or disagree with it. Just because they are famous doesn't mean they don't have opinions they want to share. Art has been used in history to criticise, to give your opinion, to spread a message ect. Eminem is doing the same thing. Some people may not agree with the position that he is taking and that is fine. Eminem obviously stands firm on some issues and he will take a stand if he thinks its right. Everyone, no matter their opinion, should be able to voice it however they want.

I find the the whole ideology that by someone being famous and having a platform, they should be excluded from being able to discuss politics or any other controversial subject. It's such a counterintuitive belief that completely collapses on the idea of a state championing free speech.

Whether or not politics and cultures are separate I mean as they both provide foundation for the other, for instance, a lot of western culture is consumer based. How we eat, dress and even think to some extent is all affected by politics. What we eat, wear and think is also part of a culture. What we eat, wear and think all affected politics. (For instance, the price of bread is a powder keg in terms of revolution, particualrly in the East where bread is so significant.) To separare them isn't necessarily the best idea but everyone has a view on that.
Zntyl musicians have always tried to influence politics. What do you think all those anti war songs in the 60s were about? Politics has given rise to the best music we have.

That's... Literally what artists do? Music has historically been a way for artists to take a stand and talk about issues that matter to them, and those issues do have to do with politics. Art has always been closely linked to politics and expressing oneself. He's expressed what he believes in as a citizen of this country and taken a stand. People aren't being forced to listen to his music. Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean they don't have the right to stand up for what they believe in.

How can u tell a star, not to influence that's what they set out to do. In every creative bone in their body they want to get a msg out either abut life, fame, family, depression or politics and religion. Everyone has a right. And the moment a person becomes an artist in form of a actor, musician, painter or movie director they wanna get a message out that influence and has the people of the masses talking and thinking.

I’ve always thought of art as an expression of the artist’s thoughts and feelings, so I learn about an artist to give context to the art. This is why I don’t really believe in separating the art from the artist.
EDIT: for me, political beliefs aren’t enough to make me lose appreciation for an artist unless they’re just way out there. Most people vote for whoever they they think will do the right thing, so I don’t blame anyone for that. I was not commenting specifically on Eminem, more about the general idea.
