In other words, hair transplants will not stop further baldness from happening. This is why we stress the importance of medically managing hair loss via medications such as minoxidil and finasteride before HT to stabilize the hair loss for the procedure and especially after hair transplantation to protect the existing native hair affected. These topical or oral medications can help slow hair loss progression as you age, buying you more time before another hair transplant may be needed.
Some cases, as you can see on our channel, the procedure can be performed without taking medications. This depends on age, type of hair loss and doctor's considerations.

Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is an uncommon inflammatory scalp disorder which is clinically characterized by perifollicular erythema, follicular hyperkeratosis, and permanent hair loss. LPP is considered a follicular form of lichen planus based upon shared pathologic features and the frequent coexistence of clinical findings of these disorders.
Lichen planopilaris typically presents as smooth white patches of scalp hair loss. No hair follicle openings can be seen in the areas of hair loss. At the edges of these patches there may be scale and redness around each hair follicle. Hairs can be easily pulled out. It is multifocal and small patches may merge to form larger irregular areas. lichen planopilaris is rare, it is one of the common causes of scarring hair loss of the scalp.
As it is an autoimmune scarring alopecia as you have said, hair transplants are not a solution. Dr. Couto's experience in cases treated with surgery after controlling the disease has not been good either because the hair that may initially grow ends up disappearing over time, not being a permanent solution. Sorry about it!
