    I have had my box set for 5 years now! I added a few of the clear top storage organizers as well. I'm not a contractor but rather do side jobs and DIY type stuff. For this type of work these boxes are the deal! Best bang for the buck and from what I can see is wide open for aftermarket mods. I modded the tool box with an custom insert so all of my hand tools stand up straight! As soon as I open the lid I can see exactly what I'm looking for or what's missing. I made it so it's removable so if I need to change it up it's not an issue. The only thing I wish Ridgid would change/make is a bottom box that is a wet/dry vac that will latch all of the other boxes to it and make the handle wider and further away from the rear of the box.

    I have the ridgid and the Milwaukee packout. The Milwaukee deffently has a nice over all fit and finish but I feel that the ridgid will last longer and hold up to more abuse. So I use the ridgid for my first in and always take out of my car box while the Milwaukee I just keep in my car to store my tools and take
    Out when I need to. Plus the ridgid overall is about a 1/3 the price. I really like the ridgid and I'm a Milwaukee fan boy. Now one thing I did was take the top off of the middle size box with the handle in top and switched it to the small box. Since I always need the little box and I can just attach what ever boxes I need to it. Works like a champ and wonder why ridgid didn't do that in the first place.

    Great review. I have 2 of the smaller cases, and they are really solid. I can put a Ryobi recip. saw, blades , 1 or 2 of the small containers, and a battery in one box. I agree about the latches. They seem superior to the Dewalt. The only complaint I have heard, is that they are brittle and parts can crack or break off if dropped in very cold weather. For me that is very unlikely. Also, at about half the price of Dewalt or Milwaukee, they're a bargain.

    Ridgid is such a underrated brand in the EU, Affordable, no nonsense and robust. The cases look very durable and that locking system is absolutely brilliant! Better than festool's weak-ass "locking tabs" that can be busted off with a hammer. You'll need a fuckin' angle grinder or bolt cutters to take this apart, bloody hell. Great review thanks!

    The plastic in the lid of the small box can be removed to give you an additional inch and a quarter of inside space. The orange tubs are no longer covered though. The other piece of plastic you can remove is the plastic cover over the wheels of the wheeled case once a gain giving you a little more internal space.

    • @dieselmxtt
      @dieselmxtt  6 років тому +2

      extx hi you can make the hole they have in the box a little bigger to fit a lock or make a hole somewhere else to lock it. Or use a thick wire and lock. Not a deal breaker though. Many boxes out there do not even have a hole at all or a way to lock it especially at the great price these come at.

      I did find a couple of wimpy locks to fit the latches but I also rigged up an additional locking system on the front of the middle-sized box involving two, 1-1/2 inch, D-shaped anchor points held on by 1/4 inch carriage bolts; one on the lid and and one on the box body. I sealed the holes with silicone. I use a heavy-duty, long-shank padlock to hold the two anchor points together. It also gives me the opportunity to run a heavy-duty cable through it which I can then affix to something heavy for additional security. I am working on a similar system for the largest box in the set.

      I just bought this tool storage system. And one of the selling points that had me going with RIDGID over milwalkie or dewalt was the fact the lid came off the bottom box. Because if you have it all staked up two or three boxes high and need instant excess to the bottom box. You just leave the stack attached and unlatch the bottom box's two side lid buckles and pick up the whole stack and the lid stays attached to stack. Giving you instant excess to the lower box content with out having to remove each individual box on the stack by its self. Picking up what I'm putting down?

He actually bangs these things around on a daily basis.👍

    You should put the two smaller ones in the middle and the medium on top that way you can use that top handle to wheel it around without smashing your hand.
