    So from what I can see from this video OO’s make $4730 biweekly (12k miles) and in the company driver video you said they make 4703$ (6.5k miles) biweekly so they only make $1400 more and also did double the mileage ?

    • @IamQuilla

      Or did the OO make $9000 in 2 weeks ?

    You forgot the most important expense for a us driver what is health care. A family of 4 can expect to pay up to $23,000 a year.

    • @naosay
      @naosay 4 місяці тому +2

      A. it's deductible.
      B. As a business owner, it's also a business deductible.
      C. Canadian healthcare is garbage, so paying 23,000 a year ain't bad.
      D. Per on person it's 6,000$ a year, i.e 500$ a month, still ain't bad to get medical service right away!!

    • @Rachid-zw9eu
      @Rachid-zw9eu 4 місяці тому +1

      @naosay where're talking about expenses not deductible because if you deduct $ 25000 you may get a $5000 tax break from your profit. But if you do the math $25000 in my pocket is more than$5000 taxes credit.

      Not every year is going to cost 25,000$. That is a ridiculous statement. And that 5,000$ is per year because you can deduct it every year until you total it.

      Can vary tremendously between States. Most Blue States are by far move expansive due to the cost of living (high taxes and other bs), whereas red States tends to be cheaper. Also a factor is your health and habits.
      I hate to pay for someone else's OD or bad habits.

    thought id "shop around" a couple years ago (im canadian) , paid/ mile is for reefer drivers. paid /hour is the way to go. im getting $40/hour in sk , canada and dont cross border. cheap immigrant drivers in canada killed "professional" drivers and allot of owner operators. most non reefer or end dump businesses will not hire "new canadians". skilled sk and ab drivers make between 30-40$/ hour, no mile bs. if you have to sit and wait , you get paid! biggest downfall is high taxes on our pay cheques. had a company try hire me to haul ag equipment from sk to u.s / mile. asked what top driver was making yearly, figured it out was only $26/hour and allot of bs crossing border and running long stints on the road. i generally work mon- fri

    Not me. Canadian. Out of the GTA. Percentage (80%} based. When times are lean i'm profitable. When times are good I'm very profitable. BUT! Not nearly as profitable as US. Canadian rates suck. Chicago to Toronto pays less than Chicago to Buffalo.

      @@jaeinnmoon3279 I know very well why that is... And I had suggested that ET also go into what they see for rates from the US to Canada in their end (not this BS per mile that they used... Maybe they didn't want their drivers in Canada to know what their average rates are?)

    • @NorthAmerican-Trucking-News
      @NorthAmerican-Trucking-News  4 місяці тому +2

      The US operates on a different pay structure than what Canada operates on. For example, we cover everything with the exception of fuel in Canada. However, in the US, we are utilizing an adjusted split system based on gross revenue.

    I feel so bad I just don’t understand why someone would go through all the pain of being an OO and drive all those miles for that much money when they can be a company driver and have great benefits and take home more money.
    Here’s the problem with this fake model. When you multiply by 2 instead of taking a real month you hide the fact that humans take time off. Find a job with a good company with a401 and health insurance. Drive hard and enjoy your weekend off

You guys are the reason why the market will not recover, those guys have developed systems where they make 20% profit even when booking a 1.7cpm load . Disgusting and it’s killing the us owner ops
