A Day In Canada With Ryan Decenzo | Field Day

- Spend sun up to sun down on the skate programme around Vancouver BC with our main man Ryan Decenzo, as we share a Field Day down memory lane with Canada’s most decorated street skater of all time.
Morning finds us at the old Decenzo family homestead in North Delta, not far from the US/ Canadian border, where Ryan’s father talks to us about his son’s first dalliances with danger- riding dirt bikes on ice as a reckless youth.
After checking out his childhood home, we hightail it to the North Delta Rotary Skatepark which not only did both Ryan and his ripping brother Scott both sessioned to death as youngsters, but were also involved in the fundraising efforts to build.
From there, we roll into Vancouver proper and meet both Mitch Barrette (who you may remember from TJ Rogers’ epic cross-Canadian road trip Steady Pushing last summer) and Mikey Ray at the city’s superb skate plaza for the second of the day’s big throw down sessions, before next heading out into the city streets in search of manual terrain to wind down the tired legs somewhat.
At the city’s well-known Terry Fox plaza a plan is hatched to go on a product raid at the headquarters of Red Dragons, Canada’s long-established skate brand, before visiting the Leeside DIY skatepark constructed inside an abandoned bus terminus for the day’s final skate mission.
Hop in for a ride around the life of Ryan Decenzo as we enjoy a Field Day in magical Vancouver!

In my opinion, Ryan is one of the only skateboarders currently that is just real with it. Not following the trends and not following the money. Just a great guy

So sick! We need more content with Ryan, he's so down to earth and really chill in front of the cameras. Pair that with the skating and you got some legendary content.
I was at Tampa Pro like 4 years ago and I was sitting at a picnic table eating lunch and him and his homie walked up and asked if we cared if we they sit down. I said of course not. I was kinda starstruck, but he sat down and just started chatting. He was so down to earth and all around just a genuine dude.
He's exactly like this when the camera is not around. He hasn't really changed since he was a little kid. It's pretty cool to see.
I remember being in 11th grade and sitting in the cafeteria talking about how Ryan Decenzo nollied el toro. Im still watching his videos and he's still crushing it and im 30 now. Legend.

Anyone who's been watching Ryan for awhile... he has some magic ability to know when it's time to bail, or when the trick is not going to fully pan out. Guy never seems to eat shit hard. He either sticks it, or he bails. I've never seen any skater who has that skill nailed down as well as he does. Most will occasionally eat the assault after trying to stick something that was already a lost cause. Which is completely normal. This guy's crystal ball powers are always on overdrive.

I skated with Ryan in like ‘07 at that North Delta park (didn’t realize that was his local park until now), I’m from a small town and was there for a competition in Van. and thought I was good, he gave me a reality check 😂

It's unfortunate the skateparks are so shit in vancouver, nothing new, nothing smooth or refurbished. Would be nice if Ryan and other pros from the area, & these companies, would advocate for better facilities!
