I'd never heard the bit about Russel's teapot, so hearing you explain that was actually rather insightful, and given that this series deals with existential dread and such, I wouldn't be surprised if that's why they are so prominent here. There is another angle to them, however!
The specific teapot model used in the scene is a running gag in 3D rendering known as the Utah Teapot or Newell Teapot. It's one of the oldest CG models, having been created in 1975 by Martin Newell of the University of Utah, and also one of the first to depict a real/realistic object using bezier curves instead of individual points. As a result, it became a popular model for rendering beginners to make and use, and it has made numerous appearances in media from films to video games to television.
Another bit of trivia:
Gooseworx definitely has an appreciation for "Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure", a 1977 film made by legendary animator and director Richard Williams (Who Framed Rober Rabbit). Ragatha is definitely based off Ann, but Michael Kovach (Jax) also confirmed that his voice is based off of Andy's voice in that movie. The Fudge in this episode is also clearly based off the film's Greedy, a monstrous figure obsessed with eating.
I agree on your statement, and have to thank you too for the bit of knowledge about Teapot, I remember a teacher talking about it in my 3ds Max course as it's one of the base models you can spawn in your scene, like Suzanne the Blender monkey, but I didn't remember much else except it was a running gag.
I choose to believe it was a double joke, referencing both the Russell's Teapot and the Newell Teapot simultaneously.

It's _amazing_ how many reactions I've seen that actually get shocked by Caine deleting the NPC. I thought that would have been the most obvious punchline.
I think everyone just got super immersed because the character was done SO well I could have fully believed he would be part of the main cast
I was expecting it myself, but I was at least holding onto a glimmer of hope that it wouldn’t happen…

It is... somewhat obvios, but that AI character was so alive we hoped he would be a one of recoccuring characters... guess that stuff about "57 times more immersive" that Cain said was true! To our dismay...
I’m pretty sure almost everyone knew that Caine wouldn’t have allowed it
But it was the fact that everyone held onto that sliver of hope that he would end up being part of the cast
Pretty sure that's why it hit. You know what's coming, but it was strung along so well you fall into thinking, "Maybe this is a win?"
One oddity I noticed is that Cain mentioned he is testing a new AI that’s 54times more realistic. Which would imply that the near sapient AI like gummigoo’s is new, but Cain then seems to speak from experience that he might’ve lost track of NPC and players before. Which wouldn’t be likely if previous AIs were unconvincing.
This is why I think the theory that an NPC is hiding among the cast, unlikely.
I choose to disagree with you here. You present a very valid argument that I agree is likely correct. But I prefer to think that one of cast is secretly an AI, as it would give more depth to them as a character and imply that Caine unintentionally erased a real person.

@@music79075 i like to think that, if its true that someone is an ai, that its Jax. It'd explain why he's such a jerk, with him knowing how the npcs aren't real, plus the fact that if he gets found out, he'll just get erased. It could also explain the "key master" thing he has going on: Perhaps he was created as an npc that specilized in keys, which is why he's so good at obtaining them, and could even explain how he "broke into" the circus
Something I'm curious about is why Caine can create NPCs that are much more human-like than he himself is 🤔
Maybe Caine isn't able to modify or update his own code, so he can't become smarter, just more experienced
Meanwhile, as an AI with the ability to create things in this world, maybe he somehow created a learning AI that could be trained from data collected on the humans, then used that model as the basis for NPC intelligence, and upgraded it somehow for Candy Carrier Chaos, claiming it's more immersive but perhaps not really understanding what "immersion" means to humans in order to accurately quantify the upgrade
I've had the same thought, but I'm not sure if Cain's words can even be trusted.
Speaking of unspeakable internet history, I got curious and it turns out within 21 hours of this episode airing, a certain website already had 148 artworks of Gummigoo. So don't worry, he lives on in the hearts and minds of certain internet artitst.
I'm pretty sure those have existed since he was first shown in the first teaser video.

one of the reasons I like watching this channel is because oh how knowledgeable you are, I mean who else would find the deeper meaning of a bunch of teapots.
Except hes wrong. The teapots are a reference to the fact that many animators use teapots as an easy to make, but still complex model to test their lighting engines. Russels teapot is a very interesting thought experiment, but is irrelevant to this episode.

The teapot is a default asset used as basic shape in Autodesk 3Ds max and Maya. It's usually used as a test asset for material since it has all types of curves and can quickly show how a material looks like.
Historically it's the oldest 3D model.

Pretty interesting moment, Jax was behaving like an Ahole in the pilot, but wasn’t so violent, so maybe his overly violent mood was way to coping with the fact that Koufmo died? He didn’t even showed up at the funeral, even tho, he could’ve just show up there to be an Ahole there too, but he skipped it.
Kaufmo was likely one of Jax’s better friends, so Kaufmo abstracting particularly affected him

How much do you guys want to bet that Jax is just angry that Kaufmo is gone and was wanting to take out his anger on someone. His reaction of not wanting to be at the funeral hints at that i think, i started to stay away from the funerals after the 9th. Sometimes its better to be alone when shit like this happens

Jax seems like the guy who's been to many funerals.
You can also see a moment there of Jax having this troubled, kinda sad expression, before snapping back to reality and putting on a grumpy face.
I think Jax is just jaded that they acceptetd this new reality instead of fightning against it in some manner

Dude! Pomni is a jester, the SAME as Kofmo! And Kinger is a white king, just like the black king that was crossed out in the pilot. Maybe when someone is about to abstract a new person that's, the same character shows up. Just something I just thought of just now.

@@The_Post-It-Note Used to work in a depot for a railyard in the UK. We called them lorries there or trucks, sometimes just interchangable, though official documents always said trucks if they were 8 tons or more.

Caine saying “If I start losing track of who’s a human and who’s an NPC, who knows what… could happen….” tells me one of two things happened:
1. He accidentally killed a human thinking they were an NPC.
2. An NPC made it out of an adventure before, and he forgot who it was.
I find the latter more interesting, as it implies that someone in the circus is an AI believing them to be human.
Interesting note on the hands: you only see 3 of them helping
Also, if you watch jax carefully, he looks in sympathy about deaths but disgust when they mention people, and, with Caine’s hint, Jaxx’s strange 4th wall breaks, and a few other things, including a seemingly simplified emotional range… it may be that he was never a “player” to begin with. Additionally, out of all the characters in the hall that we saw, all current members have a direct counterpart, however, he alone seems to be missing one.

18:21 The difference between a clown and a jester is, clowns make themselves the joke, but jesters make others the joke. So if we were to go by that theory, I don't think Pomni would be the laughing stock. I'm not sure if I can see Pomni making others the butt end of a joke. Jax would probably fit the Jester Roll better but Pomni is the Jester. Not sure what the significance is, if there is any.

Pomni seems to have a new fear/dilemma to cope with every episode… Ep 1 was “Where am I and how do I escape?” And she found the answer to that- you can’t. With that no longer something she can worry about, now that she knows she’s stuck here her fear in Ep 2 shifts to “How do I stop myself from abstracting?” And the answer by the end, she finds, is connecting to those around her.

It's essentially was a 3d model which was used as a baseline for recreating an accurate depiction of what became the world's first 3d digitally scanned and rendered object, a VW Beetle by the University of Utah headed by then PhD student and British computer scientist Martin Newell (who created the teapot in question).

After all, he clearly has some bad memories about losing track of who's an NPC and who's human, so maybe the NPCs always had the potential to have an existential awakening (that is, they were always as "human" as Gummigoo), and the upgrade Caine talks about doesn't really change much, making "57 times more immersive" a sort of reference to when Todd Howard said "16 times the detail"
That is, perhaps it was a marketing line that doesn't really mean anything :v

When Ragatha says "Caine sometimes likes to re-use NPCs" is that better, or worse? Do you really think he'd keep his memories? Or more likely, that he'd just get used as an asset, a shell of a character, over and over, never remembering her or what happened to him? The same face for Pomni to meet, the same character, every... single... time. The exact same. Never growing. Never learning. Never remembering. The same three paragraph character sheet for Pomni to meet on every adventure he appears in for the rest of her existence in the digital realm. Which, mind you, is a very, very, very....... very long time.
Caine was actually nicer than I expected him to be about the whole thing. I expected him to just delete Gumigoo without even speaking a word and then continue like nothing even happened, not even acknowledging that Gumigoo existed outside of the effort it took to delete him.

Tea pots in 3D programs and modeling are often used to test lighting, since it is an easy object to make and is good for testing shadows and stuff.

That exact kind of teapot (also known as the Utah teapot) is a common thing in 3D modelling to the point of being a meme, so it could just be a reference to that.
Theapots are used in games to test light and since they are in a game it makes more sence because it has hard lighting textures

I'm not entirely sure if the teapots are a reference to Russell's teapot. I had assumed that it was a reference to the utah teapot, a running joke within the computer graphics community as it shows the basic understandings of 3d model making, similar to creating a program to say "Hello world!" For starting programmers. Considering these were near the dev room, that these were Cain's first models.
