My Dad bought a fourtrax 250 back in 1986 and I still use it almost daily at my work. He bought a Foreman 500 in 06 and loves it and I just bought a 2013 Rancher 420. Honda is the best most reliable atvs out there!!!
Just moved to TN and have a deposit on a rancher fsi 4x4 but a local dealer has a recon in tan ES model so i got it. My Rancher comes in end of Nov and i cant wait.. the Recon thus far has done everything i want it too.. in videos it looks smaller but as 6ft 300 it zips my big ass around like nothing... I decided if ima go new im goin either Honda or Suzuki kingquad.
Heck yeah, congrats on the new toys! Lol you're 100% correct, the Recon will rip for what it is and surprises a lot of grown men! Small world too, I'm in Tennessee as well. If you're bored, check out my other channel www.UA-cam.com/HondaProKevin for a lot more Honda ATV content.
Polaris and Can-Am have both passed Honda by a mile. Honda's technology is 1990s---they haven't done a total overhaul on any of their atv's in 15 years, at least. They've tweaked them here and there, but that's it. And they're all grossly underpowered compared to the competition. They don't have a big bore quad at this point--the Rincon is the biggest they make and it's only a 680. I've been Honda loyal for years, but facts are facts. Consumers got tired of waiting--that's why Polaris is now #1 in sales and passed Honda.
Honda used to be any Dirt Bike just a $100 a month!! Now $10,000 dollars plus taxes and fees before even getting out the door and not even a helmet when you buy. Like Ferrari selling cars with no seat-belts...
@@expandghastly6628 I have a Recon and Rancher 420 and also use Recons at work. I love the Recon and think its the better choice for 99% of jobs. Its easier to get on and off of which I need to do alot and can do pretty heavy lifting for a 229CC engine but there are very rare occasions you gotta unleash the big bore on a job.
@@Protoking how do you feel about its capability offroad as a 2wd? I have seen some on trails and mud and they seem pretty capable. Id be concerned about getting a recon and it not being as capable but maybe I am under selling it.
I have an 06 350 rancher with the electric shift and I’ll never ever get rid of that machine . It was my first four wheeler I bought it like in 2010 and I just now changed the oil in 2021 for the first time . Honda’s are really really damn reliable and awesome
I have a 2000 honda fourtrex that has 11000 km on it and I have beaten that thing through just about everything and I haven't had to do a single thing to it best bike I have ever owned

I think Honda would make a fortune if they would go back to making atvs like the Honda Fourtrax 300. They would sell like hotcakes. All the newer models end up having problems, the 300 keeps on going. Air cooled is the way to go, hell airplanes are air cooled, just one less problem.
In my opinion you cant beat the 2000 Honda 300 4 wheel drive. Toughest ATV ive ever drove and ive drove many. The newer ones dont seem to last near as long. 2000 Honda 300 has stood up to many flips and drownings and is still going strong.
Is it normal for a fourtrax recon rear end to snap off multiple time even though it being wielded multiple times also are battery box snapped off we are on 3rd batter due to it falling off btw it a 2013
Soooo, Honda--> Reliable Can Am---> Power Polaris---> Cheaper(I guess) Yamaha--->Kinda like a more powerful Honda This what I have gotten from reading UA-cam comments and watching videos, Is this write?
Hondas main advantage is the depedableity they aren't know to break down no matter what they go through as everything is so rugged and over made, so unless you neglect it or try to kill it it will serve for years and years
The Honda TRX300 Fourtrax is the right ATV for me, but unfortunately Honda quit making them in 2000. THE best 4x4 Honda ever made, simple, strong, reliable, and yet small.
With fsi being a must to me id have to get a recon, rancher, foreman or the suzuki kingquad 400 with fsi. I like base models because less crap to go wrong.
To any one reading this, a recon allways fires up. And if your used to a sport quad it's right at home. I've had my model S since 2014 and dont regret a minute, dont be fooled by the 233 cc. I've owned a 400ex and while I miss it the recon satisfies the itch. Lol I know this comment won't help just ride one dont take my word. Lol
Just don't buy the electric shift. If you do you will have it in the shop all the time. It should have a mechanical shift with the electric, that way you can get home. A good ATV otherwise.
I feel like the rancher is probably the best imo... solid axle rear manual gearbox and power steering 4x4 is the way to go. I would however say the fourman is probably the best option but the electronic 4x4 kills it for me. The rancher has a manual lever for 4x4 its just less to go wrong.
Depends. The Rancher is the right size however if you don't have any experience you might get carried away. The Recon should do a good job for a starter 4 wheeler and it is about half the price where I live.
I have good xp I have a ds 90 can am and im a little big for it my uncle is getting me a rancher or a recon the recon seems good but is it fast and are the lights bright
cat vs dog From what my friend told me the recon is pretty quick with good steering due to its size (despite the lack of power steering) and I'm sure the lights are plenty bright.
They didn't have anybody come look at it, just sent the new parts to dealer and installed them. My previous Rincon was the 650 carbureted version and would have left this 680 I have now in the dust from day one. That just shouldn't be. I'm beginning to think my unit wasn't right from the factory. Warning to all out there, Honda will leave you stuck with a lemmon and will do 0 to stand behind their product.
+farmer 1456 I can't say much here but I would like to help you in any way that I can as it sounds like you have more options that possibly aren't being explored by your dealer. I'm not calling them out by any means but what they say isn't the end all of end all when it comes to making sure your machine is how it's supposed to be... Please keep in mind it's not Honda that is leaving you stuck with a lemon as it sounds like Honda doesn't know about the issues with your Rincon. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to help you but I can provide you with another step to take to make sure the right people hear your story... I've owned Honda ATC/ATV's all my life, and I made a mistake and bought an ATV that was belt drive, and I will tell you this, there is nothing like an ATV that is shaft drive. I traded it in on a 2019 Honda Rubicon 500 DCT Deluxe, and that thing is a beast. It pulls like no other bike I've owned, and it pushes snow like crazy.
I've read that the 229CC Recon has more power and can outrun one of those other ATV manufacturers 400CC quad because it has the power robbing CVT Belt Drive. I understand why they put the belt drive in there.. you'd be surprised how stupid grown men are when trying to teach how to shift an autoclutch Recon at work lol.
@@Protoking its actually the other way around, the cvt clutches always keep you in the meat of the power, and they are far more efficient at transferring power than a traditional gear box. I like Hondas as much as the next guy, and I understand why many shy away from belt drive machines, but not all cvt clutch systems are unreliable. My 07 Grizzly 700 is still on the original drive belt, and this isn't some one-off thing, its normal to see them last this long. Rincon camshaft failure at 9 months old and 1700 miles. Honda has no interest giving me any assurance it won't happen again when warranty runs out in 3 months.
