I love making Ghost videos and watching other people's runs. Not only this playstyle seems lore-accurate,but it also pushes you to be more creative in your approach.

i feel like if the assassins were a real organization, the less skilled, lower level assassins would be butchers. they would make a mess, not hide in plain sight very well, maybe have to fight, be wounded and flee, and not aways kill their target. the elite assassins, the really talented ones, would be like surgeons. the high kill streaks would not be a demonstration of skill. killing the target like a ghost, would be following the creed.

Agree with this. I remember in Mirage ----Spoiler Alert!------ there was a mission where you help a newbie assassin. It ended up with a big fight since the newbie was not stealthy enough.

The whole series is based off a real sect of religious Islam assassin's. They killed only because the other sect of Islam wouldn't let them worship.
They'd send someone to infiltrate for months, even years, to gain trust of the target. Once the target was killed, the assassin would almost always also be killed or kill themselves almost immediately afyer

@white6505 so actually: the original Assassin's Creed game was PRETTY CLOSE to being historically accurate.
Only like you've said here, the Assassin's that historically operated out of Masyaf castle in real life, would more or less be killed as soon as they took out their target.
Look up the Order of Hashashins. They were a real sect of Islamic Assassin's, that worked out of the same Masyaf castle in the first game.
They didn't fight Templars, though, they fought other Muslims who were trying to keep them from practicing THEIR sect of Islam.
So they'd spend months, even years, infiltrating the inner circle of high-level political or religious targets of the Islam sect that was killing them, and they'd take out their target. Very rarely did they get away afterward.

AC Liberation is often overlooked but the only game that did the social stealth in a proper way. That kind of persona system with a better overall AC game would be pretty good. Heck it would've been pretty funny mechanic in Odyssey if you could put on a full athenian or spartan armor set ,and walk into their camps undetected.

Oh yeah! I forgot about the Persona system in Liberation. It was cool to be able to change from High class to slave and see how NPCs react. It was a step forward to better social stealth. Sadly they scrapped it from the next games.

If only you could just run with the Hidden Blade and/or dagger so you would stand out even less (instead of big sword hanging from hip)

One thing i dislike about the non-lethal take down in the kenway saga: non lethal are just as fast as the lethal way, so there is literally no down side for playing non-lethal in stealth, for me non-lethal should only be the last resort for ghost run, if they implemented something like Metal gear V would be fire where unconscious guard can wake up after a certain amount of time and alert the base. I know the chance of this happening is next to zero, probably at best we will get unity non-lethal system haha

Guards waking up after getting knocked out can be a thing. It's similar to sleep darts, right.

What the hell was that last clip from AC Odyssey, the enemy just casually stands up after being eviscerated once to be eviscerated a second time lol. That asides, I think there is a certain joy to be found in bending a system to do something it's not designed to do. HITMAN WoA is basically designed for ghosting so people push it incredibly far. Just take a look at the crazy amount of HITMAN videos and how the sandbox creates so many possibilities. Ghosting in HITMAN is complicated, precise (which makes it more infuriating when things don't work), often comedic, always impressive.
On the other hand ghosting in AC is difficult, tense and slick when it works. It's a fight against the system (at least the ones I've played) since it renders most of your tools useless. There's a different difficulty there, and I think it has its own charm. I also wish they went further with the social stealth mechanics. Personally I would have loved to see AC Unity's dynamic crowd system which was shown off in the co-op trailer. It felt like a real evolution from the regular crowd blending (which is functionally identical to bush blending). Imagine being able to move crowds of violent rioters around based on your actions, which would then give you more pathways to infiltrate locations.

Agree that ghosting in AC is difficult since the games were not made to be ghosted. Most of the time I do it, I feel like looking for those 1-second windows that the devs didn't think players would use. Sometimes, I think I just break the game from reloading a mission for the 200th time.

Ghosting Splinter Cell Blacklist is so fun, you have to play this game as a ghost, you even get rewarded for it.

This is usually how I try to play (and fail 😂) with a few exceptions mainly because I think about who would know about the assassins and templars and all that. In syndicate I don't skirt around killing blighters but i avoid the police, in odyssey and valhalla I don't play this way cuz they're not assassins
