As a Brit I remember hearing this story early on in my life and it really stuck in my memory as an extraordinary piece of heroism. Thank you Canada 🍁 🇬🇧

I love that Brophey called it the Peg in his letter hahah. I can see Andrew getting a chuckle out of that. They're both Hereos. So proud that Andrew came from Winnipeg as I'm from Winnipeg myself.

In the fifties We lived in the residential area of RCAF Penhold named Mynarski Park...the new at that time school, now gone, was named Andersons of Craigmyle in honour of local brothers who, like so many others, lied about their ages to go fight for Canada, my Dad among them who was a member of the Lancaster group...

They made ONE major mistake in this documentary: Andy Mynarski was not the last Canadian VC winner of the War; Lt. Robert Hampton Gray, VC, DSC RCNVR would be awarded a posthumous VC for sinking a Japanese warship in Onagawa Bay, 9th August 1945, the same day the A Bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Gray has the only monument and memorial dedicated to an enemy combatant in all of Japan.

The machine gun sound effect is from sky gamblers: storm raiders.
