The original version of “Give In To Me” was leaked by American producer Eulonzo on January 31st, 2023. It was unknown this version existed.
Although fans are familiar with the version that was released on the “Dangerous” album in 1991, it has been revealed that “Give In To Me” was originally written and recorded as far back as 1986 during the Bad sessions, and was one of the two hard rock songs that he considered for the Bad album. The other song of course was “Dirty Diana”, which would later be released on the Bad album as well as released a single + short film. It’s also noted that both “Dirty Diana” and “Give In To Me” are tied together, similar to “Blue Gangsta” and “Smooth Criminal”. Basic tracking began during rehearsals for The Forever World Tour.
It was recorded in 1986-1987 at Westlake Recording Studios, along with the rest of the songs from the Bad sessions. It’s been speculated that, similar to Dirty Diana, the song was initially inspired and based on groupies, which he was known for writing songs about due to hits like Billie Jean. The song is produced by Joe Kehr and Quincy Jones, as well as co-produced by Sarah Greim (aka Syradelic). Sarah, who is also in The Rag Tag Band, was visiting Los Angeles and was invited by Michael and Joe to the studio to be featured as the guitarist as well as duet with him on the song, due to Michael being pleased with her voice on their previous collaboration “Groove of Midnight”. Sarah also provides a brief guitar solo towards the end of the track, while the rest of the members of The Rag Tag Band perform the rest of the instruments.
Several days later, the song was finished, and while Michael ultimately chose “Dirty Diana” for the Bad album, it was planned for “Give In To Me” to be it’s B-side and include its own short film, starring Syradelic and singer-actress Denise “Vanity” Matthews, with the latter female being revealed as “Diana”. However, there was a major conflict between him and Quincy with the song due to Quincy feeling it was “too close” to “Dirty Diana” and while he appreciated Sarah’s inclusion, he felt the track was “not strong enough” and “way too loud” for the album, causing a rift between Quincy and Michael.
Ultimately, this version was shelved along with its planned short film; both remain unreleased. The song was reworked in 1990-1991 for the Dangerous album, this time Slash provided the guitar work. It would later on be released as a single for Dangerous in February of 1993, with a short film starring Slash as well.

In the Forever Universe, Vanity (Denise Matthews) plays the role of Diana! 💯🖤 I’m glad you instantly understood my creative choice for the artwork! 🖼️ Vanity was and is still special. ✨ They both deserved more love in this lifetime, but they live on through all of us. ♾️

I wonder how the short film would've went... I could see it begin right after the end of the Dirty Diana music video when Michael sees Diana (Played by Vanity in the film version) in his limo. Or Begins with the Dirty Diana music video shows Diana (Vanity) is witnessing Michael's performance then towards the end of performance, she decides to wait in Michael's limo after telling the driver that she's Michael's date and he asked her to wait in the limo.
I like your thinking! 😎🧠✨ That’s one of the reasons why I do what I do, to create extended timelines/stories for his classics, like Dirty Diana. This is very much a continuation of that, and you clearly understood that more than many.

Are you saying they started working on Give In To Me in 1986/1987? I don't believe that.
It might explain why both that and Dirty Diana have the same structure. (mellow/ballad verses and hard rock choruses) I'm guessing it's coincidence that they also have the same chord progression.

this 80s version is really very sweet, it's not a classic funk we've been used to but not for this reason it's less powerful than the others🤩💯💢.. I know maybe you're still busy with the tour material but I wanted to ask you what do you think about the new leaks of The King... will you use them? in the case of "family thing eulonzo mix" I think it could be useful for you to remaster that project or at the beginning of "behind the mask 80s" i hear a mush-up between ghostbuster and deep in the night (leaked in good quality a few days ago). Or do you think you don't want to use these leaks?
