    Fantastic video . Well done. I walked the Western Arthurs a month after you and had remarkably better, drier and warmer weather. None of the snow remained. We were more concerned that the bushfires would be a threat, but, fortunately they didn't come in so close this time. You would have seen how burnt the eastern Arthurs were past kappa.

      Yeah it was super burnt at that point. Not that we cared though, we were wet and cold and wanting to get down at that point 😆

    I’ve heard you should allow 5-8 days for this hike and you guys smashed it in 5! I guess you intended to do it in 6 but I’m curious whether you could have camped anywhere along the trail between the full campsite and the car park?

    • @MrSallybird1
      @MrSallybird1  2 роки тому

      Everything was so boggy that we just decided to leg it out. There was seriously 1-2 inches of water in all the level places where you'd pitch a tent at junction creek. There wasn't much after junction. We probably could have camped and hour and a half before junction but we never anticipated it being so full (there was a school group there)

    Hey! Looks like the most amazing hike and experience, I've been researching on doing it with a mate (we've had a decent experience but only locally in NSW Blue Mountains area due to COVID) and was wondering how treacherous/dangerous it was for you guys?

    • @MrSallybird1
      @MrSallybird1  2 роки тому

      It's certainly not the easiest hike and is pretty slow going. We had very good weather and that determines everything in SW Tassie. I'd recommend preparing for the worst and not being afraid to call it if the weather forecast isn't looking good. I was stuffed after the hike, it was the hardest and best hike I've done. I'd recommend getting Chapman's book on hikes in Tasmania too.

      Hey I agree with Ash on both the Chapman book and not being afraid to turn back if needed. My first attempt was weathered out and we turned back at lake Cygnus. We lived to come back and finish it in much better weather 2 years later.

    • @MrSallybird1
      @MrSallybird1  3 роки тому

      There'd be snow on the trail. It'd be very tough and dangerous unless you really knew what you were doing. I don't think it'd be fun.

    • @jim22512251
      @jim22512251 2 роки тому

      I think you'd be mad to do it in winter. It's really exposed and you need the longer days of summer to compete some days.
