@@OGbackwoodsninja I frequented there to eat when I was younger and I can’t say that I even recall that sandwich.. but yes they made a big deal of Elvis eating there.
Kalama has some great homes with beautiful views but the town itself looks pretty sleepy. Sounds like you need to drive out a bit north or south to get more amenities which might be worth it for a view home. I am a huge Twilight fan! What can I say? I am a sucker for a love story and gravitate towards vampire movies. LOL I will definitely stop by the high school to check it out during my next visit. Thank you for pointing it out.
Sleepy is a pretty good way of putting it and due to the location, sandwiched between the river and the mountains, the amount of growth that the town is likely to ever see is pretty small. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
I took care of a 100 year old lady named Goldie, Everyone knew her as Grandma. If your out of shape those hills can kill you. The floods are bad there. rain floods the town below.
Great video. I am interested in a home in Kalama that was recently listed. I own a home in Battle Ground that I would need to sell. No agent yet. Are people accepting contingency offers? Interest rates are so high right now.
Hi Kami, thank you and thanks for watching. We are seeing home sale contingencies be accepted much more than they were a year ago. If you'd like to talk more, feel free to reach out anytime. Call, text, email: 360-685-1057 or Richard.Anderson@exprealty.com
I have lived in Kalama for the last 10 years. Our town is so much more than vampires! It really is a bit of a shame to our residents. Downtown is cute and yes, they have an old sign that highlight twilight. Mostly because nobody notices it anymore so it hasn’t been taken down. But that isn’t who we are. Please talk about the neighbor that will give you the shirt their back. The stranger that I stayed with for three days in a storm and became our best friend. Talk about Willie Dick’s taphouse that welcomes anyone. Talk about poker Pete’s that holds a town poker game ever week. Talk about Columbia Inn that supported my friend her husband passed away. I know you are not from here, but you could have at least done your research. Our town is a family! It’s not a movie set. 😢
@melissacierley2523 It’s great to hear from the folks that are so passionate about their hometown. It’s one of the reasons why I think Kalama is such a great town, if you’re looking for a small, tight knit community. I’m sorry that the mention of “Twilight” has you so upset but it’s hard to deny that the continued success of the movie franchise has given not only Kalama, but its other filming locations, a level of notoriety that they likely wouldn’t have had otherwise. It doesn’t mean that the town is only vampires or just a movie set and I don’t think that’s the picture I painted with the video. Sorry that that seems to be your takeaway. Wow, discussing the merits of the impact that “Twilight” had on its filming locations is not a conversation I thought I’d be having today. And please also remember that the goal of my channel is to give a quick look into the communities and neighborhoods of Southwest Washington for people who are thinking about moving here. So, showing neighborhoods, homes, schools, as well as talking about the pros and cons of the area is kind of the biggest part of that. I’m not PBS, I’m not going for the deep, introspective dive into the heart of the community, especially not in an 8-minute video. Nothing wrong with that type of content, it’s just not what the majority of my viewers are looking for, which is exactly why some things like the prime fishing on the Kalama River, that you mentioned in one of your earlier versions of this comment, either gets glossed over or not mentioned at all, is because few people, if any, are going to base their decision on whether or not they move to a new town on how good the fishing is nearby, or how much the hatchery workers give to their jobs. Those are all great things, they're just not what my videos are geared towards. Sorry that you were so bothered by the video. My best to you.
Loved here since 07. Nothing better than the beautiful town of Kalama
Oh wow, that's a lot of loving.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention all the antique shops. I grew up there and it was pretty much the main attraction pre twilight.
That and the Elvis sandwich at the Columbia inn restaurant

@@OGbackwoodsninjaactually it was a donut I still live in Kalama
Any medical facility/doctor office? None mentioned?
The nearest medical facilities are going to be in Longview, about 10 minutes north.

My sons wanting to buy a place around there
It's a beautiful area. If I can do anything to help, don't hesitate to have him reach out. Thanks for watching!
Thank you

Lucky Dragon 👍👍
Because they forgot about the banner. Don’t talk about the movie. Talk about the abusive at the high school.
