Literally NOT at all. Dingwalls sound NOTHING like Warwicks. I own a 97 Warwick Thumb neckthru just like Paui's. Paul's tone was dogshit isolated. It fit the band. It was scooped as much as a Warwick Thumb could be and with added low end because they lack it.
This tone is complete modern metal/Darkglass B7K with added gain tone as it gets. Darkglass B7K's cut through because most metal today is muddy as shit and DG offers a midrange boost with higher gain control than a Sansamp.
yeah his tone (IMO) sounded great WITH and WITHOUT the guitars, it just fit. it was unique, a good bass tone DOES NOT need to "push through the mix" it needs to combine and mix with the guitars in a way where you cant tell they are 2 separate instruments, my best example is "Drag the waters" by Pantera, in that sound you cant even tell theres a bass, that is until you listen to the isolated guitar and drums.@@Galluu_
