I was really hoping that the House of Hope final battle music from BG3 would get a look-in during the music round, though I suppose Raphael's voice would've been a giveaway.
You can hear the main vocalist for Poets of the Fall in Herald of Darkness, so as long as you're familar with their close relationship with Remedy Games (such as going to listen to their tracks that are inside Control and the first Alan Wake), it's pretty guessable. But I suppose that requires non-2023 knowledge
I have decided Jane's jumper is an accurate map of the Tube and nothing will sway me from this opinion EDIT: had to come back after watching the rest of the vid to commend whoever edited it. A suite of great gags, my faves being Mike's smooth jazz look and Karl Urban being subtitled with Jane's wild guessing.
It was really good in all portions. I just am not sure if it's quite the mid 2010s, like that first year the switch was out both Nintendo and Sony released tons of great stuff plus 3rd party developers too. But it was good still. (For reminders of games from 2017: Zelda, Mario Odyssey, RE7, Nier Automata, Samus Returns, Cuphead, Evil Within 2, Prey, Nioh, Hellblade and more) so against a year like that, it's nothing special. Also arguable this year didn't have 2 legitimate GOTY contenders like the year God of War and RDR2 came out.
Between the editing of this video, Mike insisting on guessing "Starfield" until it's correct, and Jane's brilliant bit of metagaming, the chaotic energy of this quiz is perfect for wrapping up the year
I cheered for Jane right through the Christmas Challenges and finally got to see her walk away with a win! Thanks to Andy as always for this excellent quiz! Can't wait to see what 2024 brings. Games? Probably games.
Always love this quiz, but I'm particularly really enjoying all the graphics and images popping up throughout Edit: the Astarion clips in particular are making me laugh every time
All the sex lines from Astarion had me laughing so much. I just started Baldur's Gate 3 last night (I was not aware there were customization options for the sex organs and I spent a long time in the character creator). I'm not very good yet. I got downed in the fight to take over the ship in the beginning. Took me ages to free Shadowheart. Then when Shadowheart and I were exploring and walked into those 3 brain creature things in the ship wreckage and got into a fight with them, we both got downed nearly simultaneously. I need to figure out how to properly play with my Dragonborn fighter. Or just aim their lightning attack properly instead of it hitting scenery instead of enemies. I did pretty well guessing on the whole. Happy that Armored Core VI got one question related to it, but that's the game that actually released this year that I've logged the most hours in. I'm laughing so hard again at the various cuts to Karl Urban (I do love that ad).
Andy's editing is top-notch here. The Word Art style overlays, the Astarion inserts, it's just absolutely perfect (oh and matching the question/answer flow, but that's a given after the previous years and the Hitman videos). Also props for admitting blame in the BG3 Challenge debacle.
The editor sure had fun with this one. I usually do awfully playing along at home. I still did bad but this was probably the best I've ever done. Jane should've gotten half a point for almost remembering Immortal of Aveum since no one was going to remember that game.
I got as far as "something with 'Immortal' in the name" for my guess, but that's only because watching Jimquistion's Sh*ttist Games of 2023 yesterday reminded me it existed
Wait, there was a 2023!? This is such a highlight of the Christmas period for me, thanks everyone for all the hard work this year, we really appreciate it yet again. Hope you all had lovely Christmases and have fun plans for New Year etc. Same goes for the lovely lovely community. Thanks pals and a merry christmas one and all.
I think the movie credited the game that the DK Rap was from, but neglected to credit its composer. Not technically a copyright violation, I suppose, but still arguably poor form.
I was really hoping for Raphael's Final Act as the last song, but when the one used came on I immediately shouted "REDFALL!" XD I feel like I'm the only person who actually likes that game...
"Most forgettable game name, that has ever been written" Not quite. Zombie zombie 3 is so forgettable, that the joke name you guys gave it less forgettable than it's actual name(which I honestly can't remember... it was the sniper elite zombie thingy).
Yup. I was thinking the same thing. At this point, I am wondering if anyone of them has even played the game since it hasn't been mentioned once on both channels.
Don't worry Bethesda has made sure that less people are now playing Skyrim by completely breaking modding, especially on console. Its one way to even up the figures.
Genuinely laughed at Andy recommending people check out Redfall's soundtrack, because he knew absolutely no one was going to check out the game itself.

The “Song #2 (not Blur)” gag really got me 😂😂

It's not the end of the year until Andy's Quiz of the Year is here!
Mike is always so good at the music section. It’s unreal.
Wonderful timing on this upload! Just jumped in the a bubble bath pretending I would read a book
If this isn't one of the most relatable comments then i don't know what is
Jane's "that's not true" followed by Andy's laugh got me. 😂
Well done, everyone.
Mike finally getting a Starfield guess right was so satisfying 😂
Whoever edited this video had a lot of fun with it and I love it
Loved all the Astarion jumpcuts
the Astarion jump-cuts are HILARIOUS
The editing in this is absolutely top notch ❤
It's much more current-meme-culture than I feel they need, but I don't have their metrics in front of them. It's well done, that's for sure.
I was not expecting this at this time.
What a pleasant surprise.

Jane really needs to tidy up her mind palace.
Mike's "BLOODY HELL" had me laughing for a solid minute.
These quizzes are always a great end of year treat. Loved the Astarion insert at 19:54 and the Karl Urban subtitle edits. Lol
I was so hoping 'Raphael's Final Act' from BG3 would feature in the music round, that song is phenomenal.
Was so sure that it was gonna be the last entry. It really is phenomenal with pure dark Disney villain energy

I don't have a Clue what you're talking about.
Jane and Mike’s IMMEDIATE skepticism when Andy calls 2023 one of the best if not the best year in gaming 😆😆😆😆😆😆
To be fair, it is up there. 2023 was a really good year in gaming
@@Jodsalz16 I thought that the fact we had a Forza AND a Hot Wheels game release would have been enough for Mike to at least consider it lol
We had a lot of amazing games this year, but also had a lot of very very bad games this year. Balancing it out to be about an average year for gaming.

Wait, there are clips for Astarion saying "do" _and_ "don't"? That's hilarious.
This quiz has a weird energy, and I'm so here for it.
I cannot believe there was no music from Stray God's: The Roleplaying Musical!! Surely made for the music round
I was hoping for some _Stray Gods_ coverage this year, but it feels like the big channels largely overlooked it.
The DK Rap is great, I'll Grant him that...

I’m sad the music round didn’t include the best in-game music of the year - the operatic song that plays when you fight Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3
