Great! I've been using Illustrator since 1.0, but it's hard to keep up with all the features they keep adding. It's had some 3D capabilities for a while, but I kind of forget they are there. Historical trivia: Back in the early '90s, Adobe had an app called Dimensions that created vector 3D models from Illustrator art that you could bring back into and edit in Illustrator. At some point, they ditched the separate app and incorporated its capabilities (and more) into Illustrator.
Thanks! I always miss new features, but a friend showed me this one and I’ve been having fun with it ever since. That’s color trivia about Dimensions. I started playing around with Photoshop in the mid to late 90’s in highschool but didn’t really play with Illustrator until college.
Hello from France. thank you for your videos. It is very interesting. I am not a professional. Just for the pleasure. A question. That I can watch on illustrator, is it possible to make the same thing on ipad illustrator? Thank you for your answer because I can't yet check illustrator on my account.
Okay, because I can't focus .. 15 seconds in and I already have to get this off my chest: One of these days, Adobe will catch on about how bad their mainstream applications are from a usability perspective, and fix them. They are absolutely terrible. The only reason people even use them these days is due to their stranglehold as an industry standard. Sigh. Anyway, Fresco is a breath of fresh air. Or maybe they already have and they're trying to start a fresh slate with some of their new stuff like Fresco (I think they've a couple more new hybrid sorts of apps like Fresco for video, layout, etc). At least Fresco seems to have caught on with a reasonable pricing model.
I think one of the things that makes Fresco so good is that it was built and optimized from the ground up to be a drawing app on the iPad, whereas things like illustrator and photoshop have grown and transformed over decades.
@@chris-piascik Indeed. As those apps have grown, seems like they didn't get much re-concepting of the UI to keep it manageable. Hopefully Fresco's the start of a new trend.
I had no idea about the vector trim tool! That will be such a life saver! Thank you!
Ah yeah, total game changer!
Can’t wait to try this!
same!
It's so much fun!

Unfortunately these 3D features aren’t currently available on the iPad version.
The "smooth tool" would save you a lot of time instead of using the "direction selection tool" to smooth out the edges.
I find that sometimes is doesn’t smooth exactly how I want. It’s also hard to break habits/workflows from so many years before that existed.
I wanted this option on iPad .why is not possible?
Not sure! Maybe it will come with the release of M3 iPads as it’s pretty processor intensive.
This might be a dumb question.. but can you do this 3D effect in illustrator on ipad? I have the ipad bundle of adobe stuff.. Im just curious.
Unfortunately I don’t think so, but maybe that will change.
Thank you 😅 my Mac 🖥️ made illustrator not respond how ever I didn’t render like you did
Oh hmm, maybe try the render? That’s where the magic happens! I’m using a Mac too.

The pain of having illustrator on iPad Pro and not computer 😖😖 not me thinking it would have the same features ….😂
Ah yeah, it would be cool if this worked on the iPad too.
Too bad it’s 13.50$ a month 😢
Ah yeah, illustrator doesn’t have a free version unfortunately.
