A lot of people were salty that Kayo didn't wait 15 YEARS for Satoru. But I think thematically it works, as revival typically screws Satoru over, but helps everyone else out. I mean, I was sad that Satoru didn't end up with her as well, but realistically, no person would wait 15 years for someone who may never wake up, sure it is a romantic idea, but they all had their own lives to live. It also follows the namesake of the show, "The Town Without Me" Life went on without Satoru.
15... years. I mean, she wasn't even sure he would wake up. They were just hopeful that he might wake up. I mean, I get why people were sad, and I was too, I just think it fits thematically for her to have moved on. Also, the fact that it evoked sadness within so many people goes to show how well written the show is.

mugensamurai A lot of media have taken a look at domestic violence but Erased is great at addressing this issue imo because here it actually shows that woman can abuse their children too. You don’t really see it that much in media despite that woman are more than half the percentage for child abuse fatalities (see Domestic violence statpearls, page 7).

I just finished watching Erased. Such an amazing series. The ending was quite emotional.
The anime ending was pretty bad compared to the manga ending.
Watch the Netflix version ending is more satisfying

After watching the entire show (it's a masterpiece I recommend everyone watch it even if you have like 5 hrs to live), and then listening to these lyrics it just fits so well with the show, and is heart breaking yet also fantastic at the same time.

I agree, well at least for the first 8 episodes. Maybe the manga executed the rest better (I think it is different), but for me "my ship sank" and it was bad.
Kinda spoiler warning if you didn't watch it yet.
So I won't say that how the show turned out doesn't make sense. For instance from the characters perspective they knew each other and were friends, even tough a very important friendship that stemmed more and more, lasted only a month or so. And even tough a month is a lot for a young girl, by the time she could resume the relationship with the MC, she is already 26 years old or something, right? There is really no reason for someone to wait 15 years on a childhood friendship to then turn it into a relationship.
HOWEVER.
12 episode anime spent ~8 episodes to build up that relationship between the two characters, which means that from my perspective, the observer, 3/4 of the characters existence were spent to bond with each other. So for me it was kinda sudden and weird. Also would have expected a longer run, episode 8 felt like it was promising a lot more, not just 4 episodes and a quick resolution.
Otherwise I did enjoy the show greatly and it is appreciated but due to the factors I listed it did leave a bad aftertaste sadly.

Desmond Chew just keep in mind that the main part of the story is the main characters relationships with other characters and how his life plays out. The "mystery" is obvious on purpose-- because it wasn't supposed to be as big of a deal as people make it.
And the ending was good if you can actually look past the mystery unlike people who don't understand the point of the show.
The fact that they didn’t get married illustrates one of the realities that makes this show so beautiful. He did all of this with no intent to get something out of Kayo. For the first time in her life someone showed her love with no strings attached. The fact that she was given a future was what he got out of it.
Prior to that the best future she could invision for herself was to simply leave and go to a place where nobody else exists. After meeting Saturo, his mom, and friends she was able to conceive a life where she was surrounded by others who care for her and man that still gets me. What an amazing story

On November 23, 2015, I lost one of my best friends to suicide. It was after a period of him wanting to distance himself from everyone and to this day I regret not catching the hint. I was so wrapped up in day to day life: college, working, extracurricular... that I forgot to even check on him.
Right before the bullet hit his head on a Sunday night he sent me a text.
"Sorry I have to do this. I always loved you most."
I looked at the text... and put my phone right back in my pocket. He always said stuff like that before he would disappear for a few days and ignore the world.
He was rushed to the hospital, brain dead, as his parents decided to pull the plug the next day.
I found out three days later, and I was devastated. I still think about him everyday and wonder... If i have just drove to his house when I got that text... would he still be here?

These were all questions my mind mixed as I tried to carry on with my day to day that was still so busy. All that my other friends could say to me was "it's not your fault" "you'll get over it eventually".
But the scars stayed.
I went through months in a fog... not depression... but sadness. The "what if"'s consumed me as I kept trying to "get over it".
To this day, i still think that if i would have just said something... then i could have saved him.
but... you can't be a hero all the time. You can't do everything, but you can do everything you're capable of. Be that shoulder to cry on and that person to vent to. You never know when you are saving someone.
I love ERASED and although the story is a little different than mine, this song means everything to me because it reminds me of my dear friend AJ, and for that, I really thank you, AmaLee. This song is absolutely beautiful!

I cope. It’s nearly been 5 years and it’s still hard on somedays. When little things come up that remind me of him, when something reminds me of his laugh, or scent, or the facial expressions he used a lot. I don’t think someone really ever gets completely over it. Especially not a 18 year old girl, that’s for sure. At the time it forced me to emotionally grow up. Because of this death in our circle, it split our whole friend group up. We moved away from each other. And it feels like i’m the only one left in our hometown remembering him. You watch your friends move on. You slowly stop being able to talk about him before you’re just “bringing up the past”. But at the end of the day, everyone heals in different ways, and that’s okay. :) Things get better. The sad memories become happy ones. Remembering the things he did becomes a pleasure. Remembering the end of his time became less relevant to the days we walked the high school hallways and talked about vocaloid and anime. I’m 22 now, life gets busier. I’m an artist- a photographer and videographer, and i think my experiences in aj’s death translates directly into my concepts and themes. I never want someone to experience the pain of losing a friend. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

I'm Japanese. I can tell that this story is not a love story of Kayo and Satoru.
Satoru just wanted to save Kayo's life because he didn't want to lose his mother.
his mother gave Satoru all her life and took care about her son for 15 years, belived that Satoru's wake.

I feel like I'm always waiting for other people to do something that I expect, and I always make the same mistake and never learn even when it hurts me in the end. "I waited for you, I waited for you" makes me think of someone feeling frustrated, but then realizing it was a problem they had a part in creating when they say "I made a mistake I could never undo." I know the intention of the song is different, but that's how I view it.
When you realize you made a mistake, and you can't go back, it's absolutely crushing. And coming to terms with the fact that it was on you is a hard pill to swallow.

When his mother is murdered by an unknown assailant, Satoru's ability suddenly sends him back eighteen years to when he was still in elementary school, giving him the opportunity to prevent a kidnapping incident that took the lives of three of his classmates)you have to watch plz it so awesome it make you to cry a little bit please watch it
not really. Plot's "eh": it has it's good moments but at times it's just complete bullshit, and the ending made me go "what the fuck? Why?". Music's good though and it's not really an eye sore.

In my opinion it's not different just because of the voices. It's also because it's different music styles.
One is more of a rock style, trying to get you a bit more pumped I guess. I think it's mostly because his voice goes amazingly with the music style used. While that was good this version is more emotional. It matches the lyrics a lot better. In my opinion of course

One of the best anime out there. It has a great plot, character development, and ending. One of my favorite.

For those who say his girl didn't wait, Kayo was never his girl (as sad as that is to say). While in the original timeline he had interacted with her it was merely because of a coincidence or maybe fate? (So he wold know how to act when the time came for him to save her?
I mean he became intertwined ,and stepped into her life,;her darkness, for a couple of weeks right? While in that short time he made a enormous impact on her life and saved it that was just his mission, his purpose for having the power of revival, to undo the wrongs.
The moments he shared with her and what he went through to save her were heartwarming, courageous and so much more, but it was sort of fake in the sense of if she was never killed he never would've saved her from her mother and that death.
My point is sort of jumbled but I think that it was his duty to save her, and that she lived 15 years with out him, felt emotions, grew and so much more compared to that short time Satoru came into her life. It would've been nice to seem them get together but that just wouldn't seem as natural compared to her marrying some else such as Hiromi Sugita as she did. And honestly I can't wait to start reading the gaiden of Kayo's life experince durint the time after Satoru fell into coma.
And... I know this is wishful thinking... but I'd love to see more stories in this world or at least what becomes of satoru, does he get with airi or not? does she somehow remember the original timeline or the failed first one (which isn't that much different although when they did the gag with them trying to trick us readers into thinking her last name changed because of the revival that was kinda funny lol)? I feel like a followup would be needed but could never live up to what I want it to be or any of us want it to be.
Also it would be cool to see the thoughts behind satorus and yashiro powers as in if there is more to it like others with powers of good and evil or something to do with their powers being divine intervention to undo yashiros doings? Although I feel as if any more insight to the powers would ruin that of sorts.

You guys, he just wanted to save her because he deduced that’s what he was sent back for because the timing matched up, his friends teased him about having a crush on her and he just rolled with it because that cover made sense, but he really never actually felt that way about her. When they reunited after he woke up he reacted the way he did because it finally worked, she was alive and living a good life, and he was happy for that.

This is the song that got me into Amalee covers. Five years ago, I was just getting into anime, and ERASED was the anime that got me into anime. I was scrolling Deviantart of all things and there was a link to this song. It’s amazing how much she’s changed, and I’m really glad I’ve been here to see it.
All the people shipping Kayo and Satoru really don't seem to understand what was going on. It was never a romance (nor should it have been as Satoru had the mind of a 29 year old guy I remind you!). What it was about was Satoru helping save his childhood friend and help her have a future. Having her get married and have a child whilst he was in a coma was the best possible outcome that could have happened. It meant that it wasn't all in vain, that he had managed to save her. So many people seem to be more interested in forcing romance into a situation than actually paying attention what the show is about.
True, actually there is another girl who might be his partner, that is the girl who came to Satoru under the bridge at the end of the episode. I forgot her name. But, the girl was Satoru's work friend when he worked as a pizza delivery man, because times have changed, now the girl has changed profession to become a cameraman.
Are there any shows that are like Erased? And no, I don't want any horror or gory shows, I want it to be like Erased. You get what I mean.
i guess technically re:zero, but instead of going back on when someone else dies, it's more like the main character has save points of sorts

KingChickenwing if you haven't seen Anohana, it's an incredible watch. A bit more straightforward and brief than erased is, but it's an emotionally driven show with a fair number of flashbacks. Tactfully written as well.

Still it's a dick move for his best friend to marry the girl he really cared for like more than friend. The anime spent most of it's time building up their relationship and all fell apart when it was revealed that not just Kayo and Kenya are married but they had a son together. U see my pfp, that's literally how I felt watching that scene. It could've of been a random person that Kayo got married to and it would've been better way to end Saturo x Kayo relationship in my eyes.

I adore the way this was arranged. It works so much better starting slowly, and slowly building up to that more fast paced the original song was. It lets you appreciate the lyrics and really start getting into the feeling of what the song is about. And the ending is arranged to almost feel chaotic and it works just so beautiful.

Honestly I've never even watched Erased, but the idea this puts into my head makes me keep coming back to this song. Two people who care about each other. One of them dies before their time. The other, in desperation, acquires a way to turn back time and try to save their loved one. With each failed attempt the would-be savior gets older and older as the time travel wears on their body. Finally, as an old and withering person, they figure out how to save the one they love. One last rewind sends them back just as they were dying of old age. In return, their loved one lives, oblivious to the sacrifice that was made.
that actually reminds me of a manwha i read some time ago altho it wasnt like that in "she is young" the mc's girlfriend character can go back in time or into the future when he goes into the future he finds out his daughter ends up dying so he keeps trying to change it by going back and forth in the future which results in him getting cancer
