@@m4kks77 hi sis! It seems you've forgotten about 3rd world countries, children and parents who don't want to spend "unnecessarily".
Hey OP, you can use the eraser to lightly shave your lines, or the pen to taper them.
Sincerely, a former mouse user (:
do lineart in vector then

Actually, Ibispaint does have “pressure sensitivity” based on speed. (Literally just speed sensitivity.) So there’s nothing to complain about.
You spend a few hours or minutes on your line art just to realize you drew on the wrong layer

*cries in poor finger user*
You mean you use your finger for your phone/tablet?
Isn't that still digital art technically?
Rosepaw_ I meant that she uses a pen that is much easier, she also uses a drawing tablet
there's a lot of finger-use artist that have more skill than me who use pentab (of course i am, its only 1 month since i use pentab) so dont give up

im confused. it's very hard to do this while im drawing with my f e e t . but awesome easy (definitely not for me) lineart ! thanks for sharing
Do you have some kind of disability or something?
guys this is a j o k e
LeahLemonade your pfp has scarred me for life :’)
Astrønoma what was the joke? ;-;
Okay, if that's what you're into.
How to make good lineart (based on my opinion)
1. Choose a pen that has opacity or put the opacity of the pen to 80 to 90 percent. ( Basically make it a little bit transparent like a pencil)
2. Put thicker or darker lines to the part where shadows would appear and thinner and lighter lines on parts where light is exposed.
Facts:
When you sketch with pencil it looks good, but when you put lineart on your piece it looks bad. Its because it doesn't have opacity. In traditional art you just have to follow the steps I said. In digital it would look good with opacity.
Tips in your lineart:
Your line art doesn't need to be clean, it can be sketchy to add interesting look into it. Adding texture to your pen can make your line art have traditional look or make it appealing. There are artist who doesn't have clean lineart and it has textured look, and it's still appealing.
(Sorry for my english)
Im gonna reply just so I can read this next time again! Thanks for the tip
Thank you!
No problem guys
This is really useful and new for me! Thank you!

You're legit one of my favorite youtubers now. Thank you for this extremely helpful video! You have no idea! I just stopped digital art for a month and when I tried to come back I was always stuck at lineart, like I was forgetting something.. this really helped so so so much. Lastly I'd like to praise your art, it's beautiful (I'm sure you get this a lot) but it is true
Yumi Marichat thank you so much! Always glad to help ^^
Warm up by redrawing your lines on paper.
Me: Presses so hard that the paper dents in, creating a ravine and make it easier.
To the mouse users: For those who don't know, there's a tool in Paint Tool Sai called "Linework", you can use it, it's a way easier to make lines with this tool. Personally, I like it, I have used it for years before using a tablet
I am using this technique now because of this video, and it really helps. I have never come across this tip before until this video. Thank you! This is so helpful and adds extra punch to my art!
You're seriously one of the most helpful art channels out there. I understand your tutorials more than any other ones lol, I'm surprised you are so underrated, you deserve more subs

Hey, I just wanted to let you know these are great tips! Sometimes I raise an eyebrow at youtube "tutorials" but this was done really well. And great editing!
you are so fun to listen to AND very helpful! thanks!!
EEK! Let me save you some time! (The whole framing part)
Just select outside of the lineart layer (on the same layer of course) Invert your selection and then and select increment under the selection tab, (which can be modded in the shortcut keys) and keep pressing it until you get your desired outline :D
OF COURSE, you need to get the color you desire first before you do any of those steps so:
-> Go on the layer of the lineart
-> Select outside of the lineart
-> Go to Selection and then Invert Selection or just invert
->Choose a color different from your lineart color
-> Fill in t

quick, simple, and super well explained. THANK YOU!!
I've been drawing for so long and I didn't understand line weight until this video! Thank you so much for the help tips ;w; (the jazz music in the background makes this video so peaceful too)
Aaahh, I don't know why UA-cam just recommend me this video now and not before when I was looking for videos about this topic (and it was around january, so this video already existed) I absolutely love your video, you can't imagine how much I was asking about this topic and looking for a good and simple advice, lineart is one of the most difficult things starting with digital drawing and get better on it takes so much time that it's very frustrating, and most explanations are very confusing, but your video is so simple and specific and your advises are super good, is exactly what I was looking for and I'm so happy after found it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you
i know this is an older video but, my goodness, that was great. you explained everything very quickly and efficiently. thank you so much!
Ive watched this 2 years ago, and it really improved my art by 200%!! Thank you for this!! Im currently sharing this video to friends who still struggle or dont understand the art in line art.
Thanks for this info! I need to practice more on adding different weights on my lineart and this video was perfect to get started!
Fricking thank you! I've been wondering how to go about creating better lineart, but couldn't find a video that explained it well enough.
Tysm for this video. I'm a beginner digital artist and I didnt know why my drawings always looked a bit off but these tips fixed it and improved my art a lot! Thank you
oh my goshh this is so helpful 😭💕 thank youuu!!!💕💜💜
such a helpful video and you make it so clear, thank you so much
Oh my gosh, thank you so much. Everything makes so much more sense now when it comes to lineart. I always just end up using my 0.1 pen for everything and making all lines have the same weight. I'll start practicing with line weight and try those warmups, definitely.
Thank you for this. Always been feeling uneasy about my linearts when comparing other drawings as in why some areas are thick, some medium and thin. Was really helpful since im bearly starting to draw and just a beginner.
Just bearly found your channel and hope you do more vids in the future :)
This was entertaining, informative, clear, understandable, I love you and your art so much. Thanks a lot!
Quick and simple, and most importantly, easy to understand. Thanks you
These tips definitely upgraded my art by a level
Omg! Thank you so much for this video, it helps me a lot! 😊👍👍👍
I know this video is like 100 billion years old now, but this simple trick has improved my artwork exponentially and I really appreciate you sharing it. Liked, subscribed, and I've already shared this video with some other artists. Good luck out there and thank you again

I’m glad I stumbled upon this by chance. I like to rush a lot in my work because I’m usually busy at home but I guess I really do gotta take my time drawing if I wanna make it look good :’>
This is really simple and helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Lillie. I've been going crazy trying to understand how to recreate those tapered lines that you often see in comic book line art. But there were just some gaps in my understanding. You filled them in.
AMAZING tutorial this is very hopeful thank you!
Awesome use of Sketchbook Full Colours (for a while I thought I might be the only one to know that series)
Thank you, great video! The drawing exercises have been very helpful. I've been drawing for a very long time, and I've never engaged in a warm up practice where I simply redraw the same line. Art is a continuous learning process.
great work! I'll definitely refer back to this video for future work
Very useful tutorial, thank you so much 😊
this helped me out so much thank you!
This made so much sense!!!
I've been looking for a video to help with my line art for so long Thank you for the help!

seems so simple yet... so necessary.. I don't use the stabilizers in procreate.. except making shapes sometimes. you are lovely for your suggestions tysm
HELL YEAHHH 4 years later I found this helpful, literally saving my life-
Oh goodness this *actually* made things way easier to understand for me! Since I draw on a 10" tablet (as in the traditional type, not the art type) I've unconsciously improved on my traces; but the line weight is the thing that I alwahs struggled with, so this really helps! Especially the outline trick, I usually just trace the silhouette with a bigger brush, but its so much work lol
This is exactly what I need! Thank you!
You give the clearest simple explanation among all instructor i find. I like the part of extra thicc line..😁
great video, thank you for making this a short 5 minutes instead of wasting my time
tysm this helped me so much! :D
Nice tutorial! Thanks for sharing ❤️😊
Thank you, this video helped me a lot :)
This made it so much easier to understand!
THANK YOU
people always talk about line weight but never care to explain where that weight goes...
this is really helpful
Now this is the content I subscribed for.
(Top notch editing though.)
This is very helpful especially the beginning practice I’ve always struggled with my line art always failing
Awesome video, thanks for making it :)
the last tip was rly helpful omy

“Unless you’re using Mouse I can’t help you there“ me: cries at phone
thank youu
most of the tutorials i found only talked about warming up and had no techniques in them
So informative! Thank you do much :)
something that really help me to understand all this inking process is to not think of it as lines but shadows, then you seek for darker areas (for example here is the chin and neck) then you look up for lighter areas here you add smaller lines, it helps to do small studys with boxes or simple forms adding thin lines on the area of the highlight or the face that is heading the light, and then you add thick lines to the shadow side, where the objet is close to the ground for example.
Thank you so much for this! If I could would’ve given you flowers or send cookies your way! This is such a nice video for those who are struggling with line art. Thank you!
The last technique to make the outline thicker is worth my life-long gratitude to you for sharing such wisdom!
Very helpful, Thanks!
i love the blues clues esque bg musiC.. thenk u for this
This was very helpful thank you
Tip for Great Lineart: On Clip Studio Paint (the software I use) they have this cool thing when you’re doing lineart, it allows you erase part of a line when it intersects with another line, without hurting anything but what you want to get rid of - First off you have to make a vector layer, and yes, it only works on a vector layer. So, say you want to make a ‘v’ shape, you first draw two lines in an ‘x’, then you go to the eraser tool, go to the box that says ‘vector eraser’, make sure it has a check mark in it, then make sure you’ve selected the second diagram (it looks like a plus sign with only the top line being neon blue). After that, all you have to do is erase the parts of the ‘x’ you want to get rid of (the bottom two lines to make a ‘v’) and you’re done and magically you have a perfect ‘v’ shape with a perfect vertex/point! Hope this helps at least one person doing lineart because honestly it’s the only way I can do clean lines as fast as I do.
Helpful, thank you!
Literally screaming because I just found this out now, this is a lifesaver! XD
This is great advice! 😄
Nice and concise, i like this
