Good that you have the kit to give you the option of feeding and saving the other fields.

Dan - Your cows look healthy and content eating that fresh cut grass. Hope the weather turns for you soon. 👍

I’d say maybe have a look for a side discharge bucket to help tidy up the grass on sides. Do claas have a forage trailer that can cut grass without a front mower? Fingers crossed the weather dries up a bit soon. 🙏🏻

Claas are out of the forage wagon market now.

Years ago when I was at the farming my boss used to say the cows hooves are shaped like a set of plough shares and in the wet conditions you describe they can pretty literally plough up the pastures.

Hope the field that got poached not to badly damaged 🤔 after headland done shouldn't lose so much grass when turning 👍

That sucks having to zero graze but as you said least you have the gear to do which saves the fields or buying in fodder. We turned the horses out last week 😬🤦‍♂ I’ve not been there since Tuesday so dunno what mess I’m gonna face this week

My guess is that they will increase milk yield with the zero graze

Great video, just maybe a stupid question but does the fresh grass up set the cows digestive system? Runny, smelly poo etc 🤔

You need to change them over gradually.

Why not feed the fresh grass with the silage thro your mixer wagon, seeing as you said you were going to put some silage out, with the dm of the grass being v wet? Just a thought?

I don't know how many cows you keep but it looks like quite a large herd......but it is a side effect of larger herds i think that as soon as you get wet conditions a larger herd soon makes a big mess. they say that having a large herd you spread your costs over a bigger number of cows but i think there are times when having a large herd compared to a small herd your cost of production can be higher with a bigger herd compared to a smaller herd

Zero grazing is the stupidest thing ever thought up in agriculture.
