Great to see a Norwegian speaking cantonese and lives in HK. She is a local for sure. knows how to bargain like a local. She is funny too, a crack up, good personality. Speaks better cantonese than I. If she read this, I will say it in Swedish,,..Hej, hur ma du? Du spraka jatta bra chinese.
admire Ah-Sai for her outgoing personality and street knowledge in China. Her Cantonese? Her accent sounds more natural and comfortable after a few minutes. Ah-Sai has a gift for Chinese languages.
I think many people overlook the ability to adapt. Its no different from a HKer coming to the US and learning English. It may not be perfect, but give someone 10 years and I'm sure they'll be able to communicate.
Except for learning how to read and write...Honestly, in Chinese, that's probably the hardest part cuz there are just so many unique characters. Okay, maybe not the hardest, but the longest anyways.
@KathriinT oh cool i can speak canto too and i am malaysian chinese,i speak mandarin better. Anyway, hows life in Sweden? i always want to work there? may i know if one can survives soley on English language ONLY? and is it hard to apply for working Visa or ome sort? thank you for ur answer.
@Tommydudez You probably can survive there soley on English. I know people who only speak English, get by, have jobs, have friends in countries like Denmark and Sweden. Most Scandinavians I have ever come across master the English language at the back of their hands. They seem to have more awareness in learning other languages, unlike most British in the UK.
i still require a bit of getting used to, to see a Caucasian lady spit Chinese so smoothly. You can tell she's thoroughly fluent by her body language, and as she's trying to describe something that's not coming to her right away. she'll never be short of a job.
wonder how my parents would react if i brought home a white girl and she spoke cantonese like this women.. that would b well funny! my search begins! lol
Are there a lot of Chinese people in Norway or are you a very visible minority? It seems that Chinese people have immigrated to many countries, especially Canada and the US...I've heard of Chinese people living even in Peru, but I've never thought of Norway!
i think because we HK people believe most of the kweilo can't and are unwilling to learn Cantonese seriously, that's why we answer them in English just for their convenience.
It's great to hear Caucasians fluent in any Asian language. Good on her for being so good! But since her accent is quite strong, I'm not sure I like that she teaches Canto though....
Actually, it's true that if you look caucasian, you are treated differently (this can be either good or bad, bad in her situation) even if your nationality reveals otherwise. This doesn't happen in European countries. Now who's the racist here?
@anderskhe Hvorfor !? Wherefore speaketh thee the tongue of the barbarians ? lol kidding, I'm from Hong Kong myself. But she literally said "Eg har tre jobber" , Norwegian grammar with Cantonese.
What's the big deal??? People come to Australia and no matter where they're from they learn English. What's so strange about someone moving to Hong Kong and learning Cantonese???
in normal daily speech we just use like 6, and with the younger generation being all lazy and stuff people use about 5 and just sort of slurr the words.
this was great.. what an awesome lady!!
lots of energy, lots of fun. you can just tell she's an inspirational person to be around.
wow she is so smooth and native speaking
Cantonese should be the world's language.
i agreed 100%
Your Cantonese is Amazing, I'm kind of a Banana Chinese living in U.S., but I still understand Cantonese and Fuzhou. Good Vid!
oh, i listen to her podcast in itunes these days, really fun...

I have no pressure in HK. Because I am a boss. Damn good
2:35 hahaha she's awesomeeee
I think many people overlook the ability to adapt. Its no different from a HKer coming to the US and learning English. It may not be perfect, but give someone 10 years and I'm sure they'll be able to communicate.
Insane, she's good. I wonder how she's so good.
i was amazed when she use Cantonese to bargain to the salesperson =-=

She got great sence of humor.
I'm very proud of her ,how to speak and learn new culter.I'm very impress
She is hilarious!!!
Talk about getting immersed into the language, they all use chopsticks even when it is not part of the language requirement
Her cantonese is very good. I am at the conversational level where l could get around Hong Kong without any trouble.
@TheManGuyDude, Traces of English or traces of Norwegian? She is from Norway!
I don't know why for some reason people think Canto sounds super bad, I think it actually sounds cooler than Mandarin sometimes :D
Except for learning how to read and write...Honestly, in Chinese, that's probably the hardest part cuz there are just so many unique characters. Okay, maybe not the hardest, but the longest anyways.
Omg so funny!!! Thanks for sharing!
super skilled.

I'm Norwegian and have stayed in HK for one year. I'm not as good as the Norwegian woman here, but I'm better than those other foreigners:P
impeccable cantonese

LOL i watched it just to hear that line
she would go to shenzhen.. even more HK than me..
i still require a bit of getting used to, to see a Caucasian lady spit Chinese so smoothly. You can tell she's thoroughly fluent by her body language, and as she's trying to describe something that's not coming to her right away.
she'll never be short of a job.
corinna chamberlain! corinna chamberlain! corinna chamberlain!
Hva i helvete er det hun sier? :P
This Vid is Funny. Cool Analogy on HK Stress.
awesome!!!
where did that girl with the green shirt say she was from?
lilslant 10 years late, I know, but it was Romania. Hope I solved one of life's mysteries for ya!
She sounds funny. I understand her haha

@yumdomcha
Ja, det var det jeg lurte på. Men jeg er ganske imponert av damen! :)
Her accent's a bit off but she's good!
Are there a lot of Chinese people in Norway or are you a very visible minority? It seems that Chinese people have immigrated to many countries, especially Canada and the US...I've heard of Chinese people living even in Peru, but I've never thought of Norway!
Yes, 130 mil Japanese, 50 or so mil Koreans, 80 mil Viets, not to mention Thai, Mongolian, Cambodian, Phillipino etc etc...
actually many foreigners speak perfect cantonese...
whys that?
lool cooool, norwegian too ^^ i live in sweden and im cantonese HIHI
so good ;")
well i guess canto might be harder cuz it has 9 tones
Well, her English has an accent, so her Cantonese might as well too. Grammar is more important than accent.
i think because we HK people believe most of the kweilo can't and are unwilling to learn Cantonese seriously, that's why we answer them in English just for their convenience.
yes she does,i almost don`t understand her
Finally I'm traveling to china
It's great to hear Caucasians fluent in any Asian language. Good on her for being so good!
But since her accent is quite strong, I'm not sure I like that she teaches Canto though....
Wow you can speak cantonese
@plwun48 I agree with you 中國人是很會裝假的,他們對待外國人(只限白人)的態度,跟對待自己種族的人的態度有差異
what a spacious house. a rich
I hope she be careful in in shenzhen. haah my cousins always tell me to put the wallet in the front instead back.
yeh man..heung gong yun.. dan hai ngor hai bbc ah.. yeh man my mum prob b the same lollololol
pretty funny..=]
even though some mainlanders dun seem nice plus the corrupted gov... many mainlanders are still pretty honest and nice in nature...
lol i guess you're smoking something
Actually, it's true that if you look caucasian, you are treated differently (this can be either good or bad, bad in her situation) even if your nationality reveals otherwise. This doesn't happen in European countries. Now who's the racist here?
These are 2 different speakers...is this video trying to fool anyone?
@Vehement00 You can say that again. Pronounce the word "shoe" wrong and you could be saying "yes", "crab" or "vagina".
@anderskhe Hvorfor !? Wherefore speaketh thee the tongue of the barbarians ? lol kidding, I'm from Hong Kong myself. But she literally said "Eg har tre jobber" , Norwegian grammar with Cantonese.
some of them speak Mandarin but not canto...= =
so weird~
i heard Mandarin is easier??
What's the big deal??? People come to Australia and no matter where they're from they learn English. What's so strange about someone moving to Hong Kong and learning Cantonese???
HK is too hot for ice people from Scandinavia
lol funny
WAAHW....SO HAHD COH CANTONESE AH.....!!!
Her Canto ain't that great (I cringe), but I guess it's impressive.
Her Cantonese isn't that smooth actually. I know caucasians who can speak fluent smooth cantonese. But for a foreigner it's impressive already.
in normal daily speech we just use like 6, and with the younger generation being all lazy and stuff people use about 5 and just sort of slurr the words.
@toufenhoover
and why would you do that? it's too boring.
yess xD
white person bargaining xD WIN
am, no offence, but she teaches Cantonese? aha... surely she speaks it..just that ain different tones..
Strong accent and not so fluent... her vocabulary is a bit limited. But anyway, her cantonese is good ^^
Norwegians the purest whites on our planet :)
