I recently watched the movie and I'm so glad I found your essay. Your video is very well made, written, told, paced, and edited. I hope you will continue in your path. Anyway, thank your for this video I really enjoyed it and learned from it. As they say, I was searching for copper and I found gold. I am french and did some essays years ago (with English subtitles). If you are interested we could work together, it could help us both grow. I don't know why I propose you that, but why not. If you are interested reply to this comment and I will give you my email. Who know ? As Nana says in the movie, whatever happens, I'm responsible, and therefore free. See you and take care.
Great essay! As a viewer, you do gradually see throughout this film how different it is filmed and leads us to question this representation of reality rather than being taken on a smooth journey through the story and the characters involved.
...and this is why ultimately, despite enjoying Vivre Sa Vie as a technical feat, I don't think Godard's work will ever truly satisfy me. I don't want to be alienated!! I'm happy to be exploited, puzzled, frustrated, misled, mystified, lost, left wondering by whatever means of abstract expression....but not 'alienated'. Fuck that.
When I watched Vivre Sa Vie, I actually disliked the character and didn't care what happened to her. So I guess I was meant all along to be alienated from the character and not feel empathy for her.
1:25: "Doing whatever this is." Hahahaha
single handily saving my film studies A level, god bless my friend

Don't usually leave comments, but this packed a lot of insight into four minutes. Nicely done.
This was extremely insightful. Makes me excited to rewatch the film with this in mind

great essay, man
great essay!
I have a hunch that these “alienation” techniques only ever work on film buffs who get the Goddard reference.
Very well done
Great essay
