Hello there ! really love your channel ❤ I'm a local Egyptian girl and I'm so sorry about the police situation.... Please allow me to explain why that happened not just for you but also for your fellow followers and fans who plan to come to Egypt 😉 why we don't allow literally ANYONE not just tourists to take photos or videos inside the churches themselves, that's because some undercover members of ISIS came to churches claiming that they're tourists with their cameras and they got few shots of the whole place to see the perfect place to set the bomb, you may had heard that many churches and one mosque were bombed in the past; well that's how they did it. So it's up to the churches' scouts (I'm personally a member in scout) to tell any visitors not to take photos inside the church itself for security purposes.
    That's all, thank you! ☺

While Amr Ibn al-As mosque is the 1st mosque built in Egypt, it wasn't the same size or architecture as the one standing now. The early version of it was small and simple even the columns were just palm tree trunks and had no minarets and the roof was just wood and palm leaves. The mosque went through many renovations, redesigns and additions for hundreds of years.

Nick, I think one of the best advises to give your viewers who want to do travel vlogging is to start in less sensitive locations and build content and subscribers, so that if they go to the sensitive locations where authorities would stop them for filming they can simply show their channel and prove they are already established and well known. I believe this has already saved you in different situations.

I visited Egypt too in 2007. I loved the Abu Simbel temple, the Black and White Deserts near Farafra / Bahariya and the strange exotic limestone formations somewhere there, St Anthony's Monastery somewhere in the desert near Zafarna I think and St Catherine's Monastery in Mount Sinal / Jebele Musa (as per legend where Moses received the Ten Commandments) - the two oldest living Christian monasteries in the world, Temple of Isis in Philae/Agilika Island, Lake Nasser, taking a nap on a felucca in Nile all alone going to Banana (or Crocodile?) island from Luxor, Saqqara and Red Pyramids, the Qaetbey fort in Alexandria...

I am glad that you liked the places you have seen today . The newest one , the mosque was built in 7th Century. And still used as you see. If you go to the Mamlouk Cairo . Around the Azhar mosque and Sultan Hassan. You may see very different Architecture. Castle like huge 800 years old buildings erected on Walls not columns. With very high level of details.. you need to come closer to the doors and arches to be able to see them Have fun.

woooah no wait... as a history student i wanna tell you that pharaohs came first we got ( old kingdom , middle kingdom then new kingdom) new kidgdom was the time of existence for some prophets and messengers as joseph and moses
and then the time of the exodus
after that there was an occupation for Egypt by the Greeks for a period known as "hellenistic era" then the romans invaded Egypt after that.
when christianity was permitted as a religion by the roman kings it was allowed in Egypt too
ever since christianity became till now here one of the most important religions
after that it was the time of islamic era which got a lot and a lot of periods each and every one of it got its own features as (amway , abasy ,othmany, fatmey..etc) as a conclusion jewish were not here first.. the religion started to appear in the latest time of pharaohs' era.

03:20 Indeed Nick, I discovered this at the Jewish Museum, Berlin few months ago, Judaism came after the Pharaohs. Hebrew bible 2700 years old, Christian bible 2000 years, the Quran 1500 years old. Much of today's modern Arab world was initially Jewish. Continue to push the barriers of "true" travel and discovery Nick. While others have recently tried to copy, they don't have the guts, to do your style. A lot of people here actually display these signs out of ignorance and all they think about it is that it looks good to them as a decoration but know nothing about it really.

The Nazis appropriated the symbol from elsewhere. In India you will see the symbol, I think it means happiness or something akin to happiness

It's ignorance for sure, but I bet if you tell the owner what it stands for, they will be proud of it. Religion is a poisonous well.

Cairo is one of the most INSANE places I've ever been. Busy, bad traffic, lots of scams, but interesting . As an American Jew, it was COMPLETELY surreal to see the Pyramids, and know that my ancient ancestors had been enslaved by the Pharaohs to build them.

So foods you should try as a vegan are koshary foul taamea bosara. Lentil soup Mahshy. Beans. Molokya.
    So many varieties
If you want to make sure it is vegan you can call it seamy. That is the expression Copts use while they fast as vegans most of the year

Egyptian pyramids are 4600years old. Judaism is the oldest(more than 3500years old religion), then Christianity(now 2018years old) and after that comes Islam(only 1440years old religion). That's basic history which everyone learn at school in Europe. I donno about NZ and Australia. Its general knowledge in Europe. So muslims couldn't be the first in Egypt. ;) There were btw time when Spain was islamic but Christianity came back later. Nice video!

  • @ash3rr
    @ash3rr 6 років тому +1

Why would the Muslims be the first in Egypt? Islam is one of the youngest religions in the world - they took bits and pieces of other religions, mixed them all up and called it their own.

Im a very private person. I don't like people I don't know approaching me. Its not anything about them, Its just me and my particular personality. If people approach me aggressively there may be an issue. From your Egypt series I don't think I would enjoy Egypt. I love the history and artifacts but I think it's rude to be intrusive towards strangers.

Great stuff man!! great whatching! good times! Great footage 🛵.09sec. or min.7.22 Awesome, Class dude on a Red LML (Vespa) that's very cool important, Not made any more, (as I'm sure classic vehicles are plenty, This is cool, LML an Indian company under license from Piaggio Vespa from Italy. No longer in production. and end of an era captured on your film, and in Egypt to make it more interesting where you would expect a Vespa more instead of an LML. ...(scooter nerd stuff) ha! love your work man! safe travels!!

Check out the Baron palace Heliopolis , sakakini palace Abbaseya and other abandoned palaces at El ma’ady and Garden City.
There is a lot of history and individual stories behind them - lots of European families that left Egypt 70 years ago after “the coup aka revolution”.
Definitely - u gotta visit el Moez street (el gamaleya) preferably around sunset.
