Man, you pulled the words right out of my mouth in this one, regarding a lot of points... Election result disappointing but NOT surprising. Kamala has NEVER been very popular, and the time it took Biden to drop out did NOT leave her enough time to win people over. People have seen inflation and housing skyrocket over Biden's presidency, and they think Kamala being elected will result in more of the same in regards to that, so they voted for "a change." Sure, he MIGHT be successful in getting gas prices back down ( I'm privileged to not care about $2 gas vs $4 gas ), for example, but, like you said, his policies mainly benefit the rich over the general population. Why do Americans love to help the rich get richer? John Steinbeck: "Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires." Americans tend to think their big break is right around the corner... Great video as always man, I didn't think it was a negative one!

@ItzSKYVlogs I was looking at VP Harris after the elections playing with two children, and she looked great. Meanwhile I heard that Trump is falling down stairs 😅.
I have the perfect quote for this: The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them
The polarization has devided the country in 2 and has never been so far apart from eachother. And it's so sad to see that it is tearing families apart.
I have no problem when opinions differ but I do have a problem with hypocrisy. I think you need to have different parties with different views because not one side has all the answers. But can we just agree on a baseline? Like basing your opinions on facts? People always state 'everybody has the same opportunity. If two people apply for the same job the most qualified should get the job no matter what race, religion, or sex'. Two people just applied for the job of president. One was qualified and the other was not and yet the one that was qualified didn't get the job. Now tell me again about 'everybody has the same opportunity and the one that is qualified should get the job'?
I saw somewhere that they had done a blind test with Harris and Trump's economic plans (without knowing which plan belonged to whom/which party) and almost 80% opted for Harris's economic plans. But unfortunately not at the polls.
sorry but how is someone who has already been the president of the united states not qualified? I’m a leftist at heart but i’m happy trump won, because i’d rather have a president who lies than a government which conceals the truth. The only people who care about her race or gender, are the democrats who thought that that would help them win this election.

I find your videos very interesting and I enjoy watching them. Keep up the good work 👌🏼. I encourage everyone to leave a little room in their minds for the possibility that the opposite might be true. I was really convinced I knew the whole story-until I decided to do my own research, going directly to the source without the influence of (social) media or other people's opinions. That’s when I realized we all be living in our own version of The Truman Show.
Yeah, came across that same sentiment time and again visiting. It isn't my place to be there. Sure, friendly no doubt about that. Conversations are really not appreciated, unless they can brag. It is the place to be, and leave in a hurry.
Hahaha so true that bragging part. I remember when I was attending some ex pat party in Amsterdam (mostly Brits) and two American young brats were bragging about their income, which was by all Dutch accounts really high in the financial world. So after say 15 mins of bragging I got them shut up and had the laughers on my side by saying: "if you guys are half as good why don't you have a job in Wall Street, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong heck even Frankfurt? Needless to mention they left shortly after that exposure *evilish smile*
I know I've mentioned this in one of your revent videos, but I'm counting down the days until I retire from the Army so I can move back to Europe. I'm tired of living in a country where people will thank me for my service but also in the same sentence tell me that as a black man I'm not welcome in their town in 2024... and yes, that has happened in certain parts of the south where I am from... so in 5 short years I will be back in Europe with my family.

They'll build all these memorials to commemorate vets, and yet a majority are homeless. It's insane. I also hope RFK JR can at least get our food back on track lol
As a Dutch person living in Haarlem it is really difficult to focus on what you are saying sometimes. Because every second am like I know that place But I really like your videos. I also have a question for you what is your favorite part of Haarlem.
My favorite part is the city center I really like the Sint bavo kerk(church) and just watching the people walk around. Also a nice spot is the kenaupark.
Many Americans think a man with 6 bankrupcies knows how to improve the economy, and that a man that was born rich will improve life for the middle class rather than a woman born in a middle class family🤣
I'm glad that you had the nerve to express your sentiments here young man, you're entitled, and I could not agree with you more. Sadly, this election had nothing to do with Freedom, Liberty, or Democracy, it was about the rise of Christian Nationalism. At least that is my opinion. I have seen this threat coming for decades. The Republican Party wants to be the only game in town, and in the end, I think that it is their desire to completely replace our Constitution with their Ten Commandments. In fact, I have family members who cannot wait for this to happen, Scary Scary. Freedom and Religion just don't mix well, and Christian Nationalists see Trump as their Savior. Myself, well, I'm ashamed, to put it mildly. And if I didn't have obligations here, I would be moving your direction tomorrow. As an outsider the election felt like a bad reality show, so in that regard the results makes more sense. Also already starting to see reactions by Americans regretting their choice and starting to wake-up on the ways the results might impact their lives negatively, in a similar way we have seen people from the UK vote for brexit and ending up regretting it, when getting to realize what it actual means to their daily life and livelihood.

Nooo nooo!!! I was in Amsterdam for work.. then went home to Haarlem during my lunch.. then went to work… then stepped away to film the ending of the video before it was too dark. 😆
I think, one of the main problems is that the media landscape is so splintered. The same news story is presented wildly differently. Nobody watches the same news. American new is also opinionated. Thats why I like the news in the Netherlands a lot. It may not provide a lot of context, but its more factual and more neutral. This allows us to have some common ground to build a society on. You need the same information. I bet a lot of Trump voters don't view him as a criminal, being convicted or sparking the insurrection. I do think, American democracy may be harmed this time, as Trump now has people around him who are more organized. I think American success should be measured on how many people are under the poverty line. If you can afford to have the biggest military and best health care - you either extract it from your people, leaving them poor --- or you even manage to get the poor to have a good life.
USA has lots of problems. A political duopoly, which is easily captured by high net worth companies/individuals. Better to have a healthy ecology of different political parties.
my dislike of the dutch system is that we have too many parties. we've gone on to the other extremity instead of the 2 parties. on top of that many fragmented nonsense going on where politicians start their own party over minor differences. as such the factions are too fragmented to actually form a fist when it is needed. it has also opened up the way for corruption that has grown since the late 90's. I'm very unhappy with that and am of the opinion our political landscape needs a massive clean up before it becomes unsalvageable.
Hey Skymaster, yeah, let's see how long it takes before average Joe and common Jane start to see that they are not taking care of by the person who won. My guess is that a lot of average Joes and a lot of common Janes will feel bad about the choice they've made this time...
Sad part is that a lot of Americans voted Trump for ecenomic reasons. While his record on that subject in his 1st term was about the worst in American history. Not to mention all of the lies he is telling on a daily basis without any (political) consequences. Go figure ?!
Mid west is easy to explain. If you land in the east coast and start murdering and stealing land from there, everything is to the west, calling it east would have been silly 😂

Yes, but what if the winning side tampers with the democratic processes to prevent a future majority that wants a change from winning? That's the qurestion in the US - will that happen or will there be free elections in 2, in 4, in 6 etc years?
Well, the quote says that you should accept the decision of the majority (not necessarily that the election results cannot be questioned, i think any wrong doing should be investigated) But going against democracy to protect democracy will clearly not be a solution. I agree that this opens up a whole can of (brain)worms, and I wouldn't have wanted this outcome... (I'm not American, i dont get a vote) But in my opinion, the quote seems frustratingly correct at its core. Sure, he MIGHT be successful in getting gas prices back down ( I'm privileged to not care about $2 gas vs $4 gas ), for example, but, like you said, his policies mainly benefit the rich over the general population. Why do Americans love to help the rich get richer?
