Hi Eerik, just stumbled on your video. What a nice boat and an impressive result of your skills, congrats! The paradox is THE best mini cruiser in my humble opinion. So many brilliant ideas are designed into it. Fair winds for you! 🤟🏻
Very nice boat, beautiful craftsmanship. Small boats are great, easy to handle and maintain. Do you still sail the boat.? Would love to see more videos. Thank you for sharing your boat and adventures.
Thanks! Yes, I still sail the boat, but I have been more busy than I have liked in the few last years. I definitely plan to continue with new videos, hopefully the coming season I will be able to take longer time for sailing and making videos. :)
I appreciate the video from inside the boat pointing aft. I have always wondered about the confront of the cockpit when close hauled. I see you sitting with your feet braced on the storage cubbies. Would you change anything in the design to add comfort when underway?
Hi, I’m very interested in your boat. Did you increase both the beam and length by 20%? Did you adjust the paradox plans yourself or have someone redraw the plans larger?
Hi James, I increased all measurements by 20%. I didn’t ajust the plans, just used increased measurements. Just the layout on plywood is different, but nothing too complicated. Mast and sail are different, this I worked out myself.
Hi Hannes, The average density of the full car battery is lower than density of lead, so it would take up more space for ballast, that would leave less space for other things. Batteries are also higher than the space between bottom and cabin sole. As the idea for me was to be self sufficient, to be able to charge batteries with solar panels, then it wouldn't make sense to have more batteries than I can charge per day; also the biggest power consumer is the electric motor that I mostly use when going in or out of the Marina, so I found this to be enough for me, when this was decided. Maybe one day I will decide to add another 100Ah. There was another paradox builder that used wheelchair lithium batteries in his boat, but he got these for good price and the batteries were smaller in size, so fitted well. This would make sense to me as well. ☺
Great job on the boat, I realise you scaled her up, I’m actually waiting for my plans to arrive. How much lead ballast are you using? Pardon the profile pic, this is my daughter’s UA-cam account, I’m looking forward to the build but also want to scale up. Regards Brett
Hi Brett, I am using 240kg or 530lb of lead ballast. Additionally I use a few plastic cherry cans to trim the boat to its waterline. I f you start your build, you may find my build blog useful; there you find the easiest way for casting that lead, also I suggest to have look at my hatch system. paradoxbuild.blogspot.com/
Hi, There is 240kg (about 530lbs) of lead for ballast. No ballast tank, but I use some 5 liter water canisters for finetuning, to keep the waterline parallel with water. I had about 20liters or about 5 gallons in the bow.
Hi Simon, I used just a regular 40lb trolling motor. I cut the head off and moved the controller inside. Now I plan to change to a more efficient and a bit more powerful one (55lb), still another trolling motor.

This is a very good design boat. One day I will need to learn how to build one like yours. Thank you very much for sharing
Thanks for posting video, gimballed camera good idea. Beautiful craftsman 'ship'

Thanks! I am quite happy with the setup.

beautiful boat!
why dont you use the folding system on your boom?
Hi,
I wanted to try out junk rig. Reefing the sail just takes a few seconds for me ;)
nice boat. Couldnt you use car batteries instead of the lead weights? maybe im missing something😀

@@eerikmee2050 thanks mate, will do, stay safe and fair winds
NIce job! Did you replace the ballast tank with just the lead, and how much do you have? Sail looks great!

Looks great! Which electric drive did you use please?

Eerik, when you say 20% larger Paradox do you mean larger in length, beam and height?
Yes, Jason.
