What they don’t tell you about the eagle strafing run is that it is actually one of the most powerful close quarters weapons in the game. It is the most precise, easy to aim, least collateral damage-causing stratagem imo. Super fast way to get 10 or 12 bugs off your back and you can throw it right on top of you and your teammates if you can aim. The only thing that used to hold me back from using it before was number of uses, but that has been solved. Use it as your only eagle and chuck them out like grenades.
Also a little trick that i think i noticed (not sure if its true), if you time your Spear shot for when the Charger is rearing its head back to charge, i think you have a better chance of hitting its head because of the round's trajectory.
Spear actually has two lock on points for chargers, one on the body and one on the head. If you get the right angle you can see the targeting reticle switch between them.
I like the strafing run on bugs, since when the bugs chase you they tend to form into a single line. Its safe for use up close and is instant, helps for panic situations too
How many horrible choices would you like to do in this game? Takibo: Yes! :D Don't feel bad, you did so good once more. And I am so happy the game's fun again and that you're not bound to a meta-loadout or have a frowny face running bad weapons. Great patch, good content! Stay crunchy
Eagle strafe is extremely precise. You can throw it two feet in front of you and be safe. It is easier vs bots where stuff won't run forward out of the effect area as quickly, but if you lead bugs it'll shred a very large group and do serious damage to medium and heavy units in the effect area. It's also precise enough that you can throw it near allies without risk of killing them. Cluster, Napalm, Air Strike, etc all have very wide effects so you need to throw them well forward of allies. Strafe you can use constantly all the time vs chaff. This also matters more vs bots where their light units are very threatening if you're out of cover, and will kill them under their own cover.
I use the eagle straffing run to do chip damage to heavy units, making the railgun a fun option. It also destroys shrieked nests and spore speeders pretty well.
I havent done this myself, but i saw a video of someone destroying multiple Shrieker Nest pods with one use of the strafing run cause they lined it up right. That has potential, depending on what other structures it can handle
Depends what the bile titan was doing when the missile hit. Bile titans are greatly resistant to damage while spewing, and their heads take no damage. When using spear on a BT, make sure to draw its aggro first by being the first one to shoot it with your primary. As it walks towards you line yourself up with center, lock on, angle your spear up to hit the forehead. If you hit the forehead it's a 1 tap.
I think the strafing run needs some soft targeting , itll go in the line like normal but can adjust to hit targets along the path, it should prioritize heavy units (so it will target spore towers etc over a charger or anything smaller). or just make it outright target heavy units or large groups like the 110mm rockets do. It just needs some targeting or a slight AOE buff.
I mainly use the strafing run VS bots since it clears troopers well so I can focus on mediums, especially since their patrols march in straight lines a lot. VS bugs it’s alright as a patrol/swarm softener but solo especially there are much better options. In a group it’s a decent support tool though. Also pretty sure it can kill shrieker nests, yours just landed badly off to the side and barely hit it (they do have 2-3 rockets worth of HP after all, so it takes a few hits)
37:15 I don't think you can call it a bile titan killer when it takes 3 out of your 4 shots to kill a titan, or even worse when it took 4 earlier in the video to kill it. I love the idea of the spear but man the fact that it has only 4 rockets and it doesn't guarantee 1 shot titans (or even guarantee 2 shot) makes me sad.
Lining up enemies in a line is the name of the game for Eagle Strafing Run. It cane now soften up or even kill heavies if it's been damaged, and ot can destroy all hive structures as well with it's new armor penetration value. And super good for pinchint a hile through a horde for you to run through.
Reason i use strafing It has 5 charges It comes from the back so its better for running away It can clear bird nest My build Eagle strafing Supply pack Railgun Precision strike Tenderizer, flame impact granade Ive been playing this build since the patch, it need a bit of skill but if you get the hold of it its pretty decent worth the try
You should try out the dominator against bugs because it‘s absolutely goated if you pair it with some crowd-clearing stratagems (although it would be even better if peak physique worked properly but whatever). Also the strafing run suffers tremendously from complex stratagem plotting, the whole point of it is that it‘s almost instant.
I would be tempted if all my teammates are taking the incendiary breaker, then I can focus on popping hive guard heads with the dominator, which it does excellently.
The eagle strafe is fantastic to kill whatever is lined up right in front of you as it comes down so quick and accurately (so it doesn't kill you even if you throw it right in front of you)... So yeah I've used it as a panic button to clear whatever mob is right in my face.
The eagle strafing run and orbital gatling barrage are basically "supportive" stratagem in group play that can clear objectives such as shrieker nests or damage the armor of heavies. Otherwise, it's decent to above average in clearing hordes as it has a fuck ton of uptime and it's fun that way xd.
Strafing run has become one of my 'always bring' strats. It's just really good at killing some of the more elite enemies without issue. And it can kill Factories/Bug Holes, which makes it even better for me. The additional armor piercing makes it much better than Cluster for the heavier enemies (not AS much for Bile Titans/Tanks/etc, but everything below it). Plus, it has a LOT of uses. So taking it as my only Eagle means I get a lot of uses out of it before sending the eagle off, been loving it!
Remember that after breaking off any portion of armor on a charger you can shoot it with a primary to finish it off. It's not just a leg thing. At 26:06 you decided to shoot the butt instead of the open wound for some reason.
I mainly use strafing runs to kill. Mediums such as brood commanders, to light up heavy targets such as chargers, and to kill trees. it’s nice in a pinch since there is basically 0 chance of accidentally blasting yourself. It also gets 5 strikes which is very nice
A nice tip for a stunt granade is when u throw them and u dive thru as it detonates u can actually by pass the slow u goin to get It can do some funny stuff example with be what I call “0.5m spear“ in the head of the charger and crouched as well This help a lot when u have to do deal with charger that are in your face and you don’t have the space needed for a spear to goes down in em
The trick with the spear is if there too close, you need to get right in front of a chargers face to where the firing arc hits it in the head while heading up (heading up as in, the spear shoots the shots up and then it comes back down to hit the enemy.) The explosion just knocks you back and doesn't kill you. Its very easy with stun grenades and always one shots as your hitting them in the head.
The way strafing run seems to work is the bulk of the enemy needs to be within the area that gets the most shots, which ends up being like 10m out in front of where you throw it. With a lil practice (I was able to get it pretty consistent within 1 match) you can even take out regular chargers with it. From what I can tell it's almost supposed to not hit directly on the ping so that it's less deadly to throw at your feet if you're cornered. Would not recommend against Titans due to the tendency for the shots to miss entirely, but I have killed one with it's back blown open by a 110
Strafe run is for covering retreats. I used it a ton in the first game, it had a cooldown of basically nothing there. (Eagle didn't have ammo/inventory back then, it was just on cooldown)
Eagle Strafing Run can also close bug holes and bot fabs now (has to hit into the hole or vent)! Spear can lock onto spore spewers (but targeting may be bugged just like with bot fabs)
Strafing run was really nice against Shrieker nests last I used it. Smoked all 3 and took out some shriekers as well, which the bombs generally wont. I guess it's cause the projectiles spawn higher up as opposed to the bombs. Also patrols much easier after being strafed.
strafing run takes out shrieker nests in 2-3 uses from a distance. spore spewers and bug holes if you're lucky. it can also damage bile titans and chargers. its not terribly strong, but it has a nice niche. it also doesn't immediately kill your teammates like the cluster bomb. i bring it on every bug mission now.
i like the strafing run because it is precise and guided, meaning i can relatively savely use it to help out a buddy or myself when getting swarmed by bugs. i usually bring 3 eagle-stratagems for the shared cooldown, nothing comes close to an eagle loadout.
I'm definitely facing way less bugs in higher difficulties. I used to always watch your gameplays and be like "how is he able to take 2 seconds to reload? Every time I play, there isn't 1 square inch of space on the planet that isn't targeted by bugs" but now it's actually enjoyable and I'm able to just experience the game! I can walk around, I can stop and reload my spear, it's so much more fun!
I like that Eagle Strafing run has x5 uses w/ the stratagem upgrades. Usually its just sort of a extra barrage on other people's stratagems/ Other than that, it comes in quick enough to give breathing room when you are kiting a bunch of bugs. And someone else already mentioned clearing patrols/POIs before they can bug breach. It's really fun to play danger close with it, IMO.
yeah, from what I've seen, strafing run is good for if you're being chased by ground-only light to medium enemies, so you can spin around and throw it down in front of the line real quick, before running again, but jumping enemies like pouncers and hunters can close the distance too easily for it to work well on them also, reopening your stratagem menu will "reset" the orb, if you don't need whatever you typed in
Eagle strafing run is really, really good against bugs on non-pouncer planets, as you can throw it down exactly at your feet (facing behind you) as you tactically retreat. I regularly get 20-30 kills with one use, and you get five per rearm. A bit useless if you run flamethrower, but I am a spear user so the horde clear is great. I usually run spear, railcannon strike, eagle strafing run, and orbital gas fyi. :)
For spewer nests the eagle strife run if you line it up, takes them out no problem. Not only do you get an increase from 4 to 5, it also damages heavy armored enemies. You have to line it up right.
@@CKenjiroIt was able to lock onto Spore Spewers before the patch. In the list of known issues they've noted that it can't lock onto Bot Fabricators, but the reality is it can't lock onto any structures at all.
It also locks onto your teammates’ exosuit so be careful... unless it’s empty and sitting in the midst of a bug breach. Then you can use it as a bigger explosive barrel.
Switch out stun grenades for incen impact and precision strike for gatling sentry and you have a good solo build. the strafing runs are generally better used as an opener to thin out the herd before cleaning out the rest with your primary. as for the spear, if you first shoot the titan with your primary to get its attention, it'll be that much easier to line up that one shot headshot. only thing the spear can't one shot is the factory strider. also, ik the update you were playing on didn't have that feature available at the time, but spear is also great for clearing out terminid structures. can take out a shrieker nest from 100+ meters away with 1 rocket for each tree. good use of the strafing run will also allow you to bring a grenade pistol for clearing out bug nests.
I prefer using the new orbital precision strike. They reduced it's activation time and now you can use it to one shot bile titans on a 70 second cooldown. It's even better than the EAT at this point. The 500kg has two uses (tries) but it has a 2:30+ minute cooldown
Strafe has more uses and it can destroy fabs and bug holes as long as you attack from the front. It's most effective when funneling massed units through narrow terrain.
This needs more testing but with a little RNG the strafing run can kill bot fabs, the RNG is that some of the bullets have to go inside the vents, the cluster bomb can as well and I assume it always could seeing as the airburst launcher bomblets can as well but it's even more random as it requires one of the bomblets to enter the vent as well, what the staffing run can absolutely do is destroy mortar emplacements and cannon towers as well as both tank variants and can hurt a strider with a shot being able to run all the way along it's back, destroying it's turret and again with RNG it's miniguns, against the bugs it can clear spore spewers, shrieker nests and also with rng bug holes, it can break charger leg armour in a pinch and like the strider can hurt titans due to almost all the shots hitting them along its back, it really shines against patrols of all kinds due it killing them before calling a bot drop or bug breach, this thing is definitely a contender now with it's huge utility gain.
5:07 the Superior Packing Methodology is not working (again) right now after the big patch. So if you have other upgrades to buy, might wanna but those first.
Buffed strafing run is not for deleting medium/heavy armor. It can definitely soften them up or finish off weakened ones though. I don't know if it strips armor like the airstrike/500kg but it does pierce it. Just as an example if you miss an EAT on a titan or charger but manage to crack the shell off and throw a strafing run on it, it does pretty big damage to the exposed yellow bits. Still have to do more testing but it's definitely better in group play than in solos
Hey boss one request! You always go over your strategem loadout but would you mind including your armor and equipment at the beginning also? The primary and secondary usually becomes obvious but I'm not sure what armor you run would be nice to get the full kit 🙏
The spear is bugged still right? Like it doesn’t target bot factories. If it doesn’t target them right now then surely it should target the big mushrooms when it’s fixed?
I love how the spear is struggling to deal with charger and titan : if u too close, missile fly above the charger, charger is tilt a little bit to left or right, it hit the neck or the the back, and not one shot. Same shit with titan where sometimes u need to shoot 3 missile to kill it bc they love to hit the neck instead of the forehead. Its supposed to be a heavy anti tank weapon, but you need to have perfect conditions to make it works, which is stupid...
before this update, the spear could lock onto spores and shriekers, this update it cant and it cant lock onto fabs due to a bug, idk if they removed the shrieker lockon but i believe it shouldnt lock onto shriekers but should lock onto their nests, kinda wish it would still lock onto spores tho
Strafing run is my favorite for really close fire support, and I regularly get 10+ kills with it. You kept throwing it down and then kiting to the side, so the enemies walked out of the line of fire. Gotta throw it at your feet and run directly away from it.
The Strafing Run is good because you get fucking 5 charges. You can get rid of patrols and swarms really well with it, plus i think they made it able to hurt heavy units, so it can soften them up a bit to potentially take just one anti tank round. Same for the Gatling Barrage
When I was a noob, I liked that the Eagle Strafing Run had a narrow enough area that it would result in fewer teamkills than Airstrike and Clusters. If you play solo that's pretty much irrelevant.
No joke, I one-shot a Bile Titan with a Strafing Run. It was uninjured, in a lower level "eliminate the bile titan" mission, with nothing else around it. The first of the salvos hit directly on its head, and the rest ran along its spine. I have not even attempted to replicate this, as I don't have the patience to retry a fluke. But it is a lot better now, especially with its additional charge, its basically Cluster Bomb but straight instead of sideways, and with better armor penetration.
Lol, at 11:52 you have 3 bug breaches; however, you were able to kill all of the bugs that came out after you (looks like about 30 or so). If that had been in my world, the breaches would not have started at 1 and built up to 3, it would have started with 3, and there would be so many bugs coming after me (easily 150+) that I would have to retreat because there isn't enough ammo in the world that could kill all the bugs that would have come out the ground. I'm jealous at how every youtube video I watch with the player on helldive is equivalent to my challenging level 4's. Is my ps5 glitched or something; or maybe is my helldivers game programed to flood me out with bugs every time I fire a single shot from my incendiary breaker? My helldives make a 4 man squad retreat. I'm jealous of everyone who can solo a helldive with minimal bugs.
strafing run is the only stratagem that runs its path directly perpendicular to you not parallel. So it will do its run based on what direction you are facing outwards. I use it a lot vs hunters and stalkers that are riding my ass. Its good vs 'lines' of swarms if you can funnel them into a valley.
Gatling barrage I feel is A tier pick. Clears out trash mobs and is very effective in chokepoints where bugs have no choice but to go through it to get to you
I use the eagle run all the time, it’s for swarm’s of bugs that get danger close making all other stratagems unusable. I can drop it right at my feet and just a little step back or to the side and im clear and a column of bugs are decimated.

Crouching before launching also helps, the rocket flies closer to the ground
I like the strafing run on bugs, since when the bugs chase you they tend to form into a single line. Its safe for use up close and is instant, helps for panic situations too
How many horrible choices would you like to do in this game? Takibo: Yes! :D Don't feel bad, you did so good once more. And I am so happy the game's fun again and that you're not bound to a meta-loadout or have a frowny face running bad weapons. Great patch, good content!
Stay crunchy
OGB was the low key MVP of the patch. 15 second barrage on a 60 second CD only has a down time of like 45 seconds.
1 strafing run can clear a shrieker nest but you literally missed. 12:47
Yeah 100% this.
I hit a bile titan with 4 spear shots, to include 2 to the face, and he ate them all and asked for more.
That is a bug at AH studios mentioned.
You can open the stratagem menu again to disable the one that has already been activated and after closing menu, you will take up arms again
I mainly use the strafing run VS bots since it clears troopers well so I can focus on mediums, especially since their patrols march in straight lines a lot.
VS bugs it’s alright as a patrol/swarm softener but solo especially there are much better options. In a group it’s a decent support tool though.
Also pretty sure it can kill shrieker nests, yours just landed badly off to the side and barely hit it (they do have 2-3 rockets worth of HP after all, so it takes a few hits)
wow the last time i really saw u u had 8 k subs u quadripled ur subs in less than a year, good job
If you hold down the aim button while reloading the spear it’ll start locking on so when you’re fully reloaded you can shoot instantly
Hey homie, love your content. You give off Aculite vibes, where you're competent at the game but chill about it. Love it.
That bug at 22:50 really went jujitsu on you hahahaha
Lol still a good display of the spear overall, love your videos man!
This aged well
Man let his intrusive thoughts win😂😂😂
Lining up enemies in a line is the name of the game for Eagle Strafing Run. It cane now soften up or even kill heavies if it's been damaged, and ot can destroy all hive structures as well with it's new armor penetration value. And super good for pinchint a hile through a horde for you to run through.
Reason i use strafing
It has 5 charges
It comes from the back so its better for running away
It can clear bird nest
My build
Eagle strafing
Supply pack
Railgun
Precision strike
Tenderizer, flame impact granade
Ive been playing this build since the patch, it need a bit of skill but if you get the hold of it its pretty decent worth the try
How is peak physique supposed to work?
@@shazbot316 well it‘s supposed to decrease drag when aiming your weapon, but right now it does absolutely nothing
I would be tempted if all my teammates are taking the incendiary breaker, then I can focus on popping hive guard heads with the dominator, which it does excellently.
@@franzoloranzo7302 thanks!
"This is going really well..."
[Punches Hellbomb]
Great video. If I may ask, what type of mic do you use? It sounds very clear and professional.
A nice tip for a stunt granade is when u throw them and u dive thru as it detonates u can actually by pass the slow u goin to get
It can do some funny stuff example with be what I call “0.5m spear“ in the head of the charger and crouched as well
This help a lot when u have to do deal with charger that are in your face and you don’t have the space needed for a spear to goes down in em
I love the spear for essentially being the futuristic Javalin launcher.
It's really fun to play danger close with it, IMO.
yeah, from what I've seen, strafing run is good for if you're being chased by ground-only light to medium enemies, so you can spin around and throw it down in front of the line real quick, before running again, but jumping enemies like pouncers and hunters can close the distance too easily for it to work well on them
also, reopening your stratagem menu will "reset" the orb, if you don't need whatever you typed in
the strafing run at 2:40 kill 8 bugs in fact, there was more than a hive guard behind the containers
Wake up babe Takibo just uploaded new video
23:45 that little hunter noclipped lol
Not gonna lie, i know that flamethrower is atm #1 sub weapon against terminids but . . . i love using spear and airburst rocket launcher~
Same
Spear is the number 1 stratagem weapon against terminids.
Spear would be so much better if it could lock onto shrieker nests and spore spewers
15:16 to cancel a stratagem, just choose the primary or secondary weapon, you will pocket the stratagem ball again
The strafing run is something you can use and still be very close to it from behind and requires minimal effort when in quite the situation
I prefer using the new orbital precision strike. They reduced it's activation time and now you can use it to one shot bile titans on a 70 second cooldown. It's even better than the EAT at this point. The 500kg has two uses (tries) but it has a 2:30+ minute cooldown
How do you run and call in strategem?
The biggest thing I noticed is localisation confusion no longer seems to have an effect when I use it...
Spear should be able to target spore spewers, but the big batch broke that. However a hotfix came out today to restore that.
Btw it says in the patch notes a few hours ago that they've fixed the spear targeting everything allegedly. Gonna try it today.
If it doesn’t target them right now then surely it should target the big mushrooms when it’s fixed?
it does now
I love how the spear is struggling to deal with charger and titan : if u too close, missile fly above the charger, charger is tilt a little bit to left or right, it hit the neck or the the back, and not one shot.
Used the spear today against the automations, One of favorites next to the autocannon, but I had 7 crashes in 30 min, so didn't get much done
I use it to quickly clear an area I need to walk through. Sometimes 5 short bursts fits the situation better than 2-3 longer bursts
When I use the eagle strafing run it was after running away and getting the enemies into a straight line.
I use the strafing run for...fun 😂
10:40 You're better than ill ever be at this game, and I love watching your vids but bro... what in God's name was that throw
On PC you can cancel a strat by pressing and releasing CTRL again. I think switching weapons also works.
What primary weapon are you using?
The strafing run could probably be changed to include two strikes, like with the precesion strike from MW19
strafing run is the only stratagem that runs its path directly perpendicular to you not parallel. So it will do its run based on what direction you are facing outwards. I use it a lot vs hunters and stalkers that are riding my ass. Its good vs 'lines' of swarms if you can funnel them into a valley.
You can swap to another weapon with 1, 2, 3 if you've got a stratagem ball cocked and don't want to throw it.
dude use the eagle strafing run today for crowd control if they're coming at you in a row
How did you see the radar station from like 9000 meters away past the fog
Gatling barrage I feel is A tier pick. Clears out trash mobs and is very effective in chokepoints where bugs have no choice but to go through it to get to you
It does locks onto Spore spewer now
I use the eagle run all the time, it’s for swarm’s of bugs that get danger close making all other stratagems unusable. I can drop it right at my feet and just a little step back or to the side and im clear and a column of bugs are decimated.
