Bonds are some of the most necessary and fundamental vehicles in the financial sector. They allow towns, governments, companies, and other groups to get funding. Bonds are essentially just I.O.Us to the person giving you money, the lender, that says you’re going to pay them back sometime in the future.
They’re a fancy form of a loan that get’s companies and governments funding when they need it. What makes bonds different from loans is that they’re a form of security, in that you can buy a bond and start getting payments from the company that owes you. In essence, bonds are securitized loans.

This was terrific! I've been searching for a video that described bonds for the last couple of months. Thank you.
Really clear. Thank you
Where does one go to invest in a bond?
Best intro ever
Dadum tishhh, nice video, especially the elevator music, I appreciate that.
Thank you I have a learning disability and it’s hard understanding the book. watching this video is a game changer 🎊 😊

I would love to learn more about fusion and atoms and other stuff like that
I actually think he is doing the right thing mixing up financial videos with the normal science content.
My plan right now is to do one finance, one how stuff works, and one interesting history video in a pattern. Finance videos, while they sometimes don’t get me views, they’re where 90% of my ad revenue comes from, so I have to keep doing them to afford to keep doing this 🙂
@@ConcerningReality finance, Science, Georgraphy and History are the best niches in UA-cam in my opinion 👍
What’s the point in buying a zero coupon bond if the value of the dollar depreciates in 5 years
Because you think other investments will perform worse - it's essentially a hedge
A new CR video is released and I'm 6 days late.
Thanks UA-cam.
Thank you! This answered a lot of my questions. There's still one thing I'm wondering though...
If I buy a stock for let's say 10 000 dollars with a maturity of 5 years. After the first year the issuers credit rating worsens considerably and the price of the bond falls. The issuer doesn't go bankrupt but the price remains lower than when I bought it. If I understood it correctly, the price is only what the bond is traded for on the secondary market so that means I'd still get my 10 000 dollars back after 5 years right?
Good question but I'm assuming so. Otherwise that would just seem to operate almost like a stock with the exception of collecting interest along the way. Nobody answered but I would like to know.
Life is a journey to acquire assets & make once life better than the previous generation physically, emotionally & financially🕯... hoard as much gold as possible in form of jewelry and coinage💲... Do not fall into traps like marriage & religion💸... Marriage is a coffin & every child is a nail in that coffin⚰... Religion is a business with no recession💸... #AllforNothing🌎💘💰
Stand up comedy? Keep your day job. ... and I hope one day the stock video clips will go the way of the dodo.
