Matt, when she talked about saving that one tree, did she mean she did a foliar compost tea/extract spray onto the leaves? If so, that would have to be fungally-dominant tea to have good results?
To be honest, if I compare this to Back to Eden, Curtis Stone, Singing Frog, Charles Dowding No Dig, Polyface, etc. this property looks very miserable. The soil really looks like dirt instead of fertile humus. The gras looks quite dead, the vegetable beds do not look very fertile.
Adrian P. Context is everything - this site is a remediated one and features comparisons between compost and conventional - it’s also in a totally different climate. Soil types and color depend largely on the context and starting point. I was just there recently and it’s totally different and new area is cleared: all bright red earth. Knowing different climates soils and contexts makes it more clear a picture.
@@ThePermacultureStudent I love her attitude and also her sense of humor. She is very practical, and also very engaging. I hope to meet her one day! Just watched your livestream this morning... which led me down this path... I had not found before!
Thanks Matt for making these short videos with Elaine. I have watched several of these clips. What a great book of knowledge Elaine is! 👍

I don't understand why you need to massage your compost to make extract. Why not just put some in the water and stir?
The microbes DO NOT LIKE to be stirred or strained.

Every time she uses ‘weed’ as a collective singular, it sounds like she’s talking about cannabis, but I know she isn’t.
