    I have been about this business since my return from Beirut, in 83, as a Marine, and finding it necessary to adjust my beliefs to encompass a personal God and Savior, having run away from faith in belief, most of my life. I am amazed at what I've found with Lewis, having read him to our children, thirty five years, as the Narnia tales, and never realizing he was far beyond. My Christian life has been greatly expanded, enhanced, and indeed, "Blessed" in the last year I've found the incredible reason "Clive", has brought to my personal understanding and my faith, I am awed by God's felicity.

    I made mention of Walter Hooper's observation that he believed CS Lewis would eventually have become a Catholic as he, Hooper, did. Of course mention of the Catholic Church brought forth some vigorous responses, there are 30 comments on here currently and over half of them concern that one comment. This ability that the mentioning of the Catholic Church always engenders, has, I must admit helped confirm me in my faith. So here is a comment from Lewis himself which is both prophetic and indicative, " . . . missionary to the priests of one's own church is an embarrassing role though I have a horrid feeling that if such mission work is not undertaken the future history of the Church Of England is likely to be short . . ."

    Thank you for this wonderful presentation. I'm au fait with this essay of Lewis and it is good to revisit it, as time moves on Lewis seems to be of similar stock to the prophets. Walter Hooper, who converted to Catholicism said he had no doubt that if Lewis were alive he would have become Catholic.

      @@bany512 hello and greetings to you and you know CS Lewis better than Walter Hooper do you? Really? To stress Hooper himself became Catholic. Just as a matter of information James 2: 24 2 "As you can see, a man is justified by his deeds and NOT by faith alone." of course Martin Luther took that out of his Bible, saying he'd like to burn "Jimmy in the fire" how sad it all is . . . @@allanlindsay8369 That Ave Maria part speaks for itself, but lets leave idolatry for now. Regarding the passage, I agree, after you got saved by faith, and not by works, lest no man shall boast, good deeds/works are important, but the point of work based salvation is that somehow you can work yourself to salvation, which, if true, then Law would have been enough and Christ would not have to die. As scripture says, its the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8-9
      God bless.

      @@luciusrex22 you are right, as long as he believes in finished work of Christ as a method of salvation, it doesnt really matter. I just wanted to react to a classic Catholic pride claim. And I dont mean it in a demeaning way, more like politely telling your brother to control his pride.

    Lewis is his usual brilliant self, but there is a simpler reason why women can't be priests - though the devil is hard at work convincing us that they can. Christ had a 3-fold identity, as priest, prophet and king. Officially, a priest, when saying mass, is an "in persona Christi." That is someone "acting in the person of Christ" to bring the sacrifice on Cavalry to here and now via the Eucharist. Of course, priests do this in the other sacraments too. The point is that in the Old Covenant/Testament, and now in the New Covenant/Testament, from the righteous Abel to Melchizedek to Christ to today, rabbis and priests have always been men because the 2nd person of the Blessed Trinity is a MAN in heaven - and will be for all eternity!!! No matter what the Satanically inspired homosexual/lesbian lobby claim.

    The other aspect worth noting in this "problem" which is worthy of consideration is pregnancy . . . . . until recent times anything up to and often over twenty confinements during a woman's life was not that unusual, let's say then some 180 months the equivalent to some fifteen years, then there is all that is entailed in relation to post natal health, apparently so some medical experts have claimed few if any women recover their health 100% then there is the feeding of the children and all else. How could a woman truly serve God and humankind in terms of the Church and the faithful? Of course just as Lewis reached the shores of Heaven in came ubiquitous contraception and all the propaganda ensuring its take-up . . . . and then came the Priestesses. How many priestesses Anglican or otherwise could hold down the role without contraception, while providing a true and dedicated ministry? (Is contraception against the law of God? )

    • @rethaf4387
      @rethaf4387 2 роки тому +2

      You seem to argue that women are lesser servants of God, because they can get pregnant, which affects their health. But the average woman lives longer than the average man, and thus have more years of good health. If physical health was a measure to decide who should be priests, then it is men who should maybe not be priests.

      @@rethaf4387Hello and greeting to you 🙏. The actuality is you can interpret matters that way, indeed anyway one chooses as is often the case as people chose sides. However, the reality of the matter is, that is the way it was and is (the latter in relation to contraception). So I was attempting to bring another facet in regard to this problem to bear - not emotion. Women are not lesser servants of God how can they be? The foot of the cross establishes that but in a world that now almost demands women to be as men their "role" is argumentatively either compromised or even destroyed. Also in marriage man and woman become one spirit, Matthew 19:5-6 And he said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become ONE flesh, so they are no longer two but ONE flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Marriage again until "recent times" in Christendom was almost universal, so how can they serve God less? The evidence strongly supports the bringing to the debate, that until recent times women courtesy of reality would not have been able to hold down the true calling of a priest. Now added to this debate is can priestesses use contraception and have abortions?

Yes indeed, a ball is a celebration and too few of us in this world celebrate the Church . . . . it is persecuted, criticised, attacked, moaned about and all else in the negative vein, all too often what it was instituted by Our Blessed Lord to achieve is negated and obscured. We should be celebrating the Church in and through the LOVE of Jesus Christ but all too few of us do. AVE MARIA!

    An error found: Acts 1:14 states along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers were in the upper room where all were filled with the Holy Spirit.
    He denies this Reality.
    I can't help but wonder whether this essay represents his merely human intellect/ wisdom, earthly, before he married, during or after his wife died. Good read
