Yo, give me some challenges...some questions. Let me know what you want me to test or figure out.

Hey man how much did you pay for this set up and how much roughly was shipping? Also do you get rocks, dirt, or any other debris kicking up from the front wheels at all? I’m looking to get this board and will only really ride it on trails and I’m curious if you get anything kicking up? I know they have mud guards but I will be putting 8in wheels on it which aren’t compatible with the guards :/ lastly, what’s the range you’ve been getting while riding on trails?

@@skatedoc9567 yeah it looks like they updated the prices to around $2499, which with the aux pack and a few other accessories it looks like I’ll be paying a hefty $3800 which is nuts but I supposed it’s worth it for my wants/needs. Yeah I figured that would be the case with debris coming up and the last thing I want is a pebble hitting me directly in the eye at 20+mph so I might unfortunately have to run a smaller tire which will limit the trails I can ride :/ if you find that your custom made mud guards function well, then I would most definitely pay you to print some for me that would accommodate 8in tires! Thanks for the info and the reviews!

@@milikdavis9700 So, regarding the AuxPack.....Don't quote me on this as I am doing a full teardown in the future with spark chasing. But from what I've seen, the pack seems to just share a common power bus. Sooooo if you got the deck plate and cable....theoretically you could make your own. Also, thinking outside the box. You could get a super tiny 1+ kw generator (20lbs) with the fast charger, and basically erase range anxiety. Just park somewhere for 1/2 hour to refill board and keep going. I dunno, maybe fun for a future vid.
RE: price. 2500 is pushing where I would be comfortable. The big draw for me was it was cheaper and cleaner than a DIY, with less time I needed to invest. 3800 all at once is too much for me to even think about.
So, here's the thing with the tires. I'm pushing a rock crawling/traction video today(?) and bottom line...stock wheels don't like loose dirt mixed with large stones. So with larger tires, I'd actually have better traction despite the lower torque...and less wheelspin which throws up the rocks.

Whats the max weight limit for this board?

@@gilmoregibson9184 Good question. I've seen amazon listings for the Atlas Carbon (precursor to the Pro) that said 780(?) max load. Generally testing is done with 170lb from what I remember, for performance stats. @exway can you help out?

sorry for posting it here as well :)
Since you deep dived into the battery and wiring I was wondering if you could give me an advice on what would be the best way to extend the range/charge and maintain the battery on the long run :)
Also wanted to ask you if you have spotted any difference in range between using the 2wd and 4wd configs on the 4wd board.
I'd like to mention that I am still saving for the AuxPack and am using the standard 210 GaN charger. (pro 4wd gear drive)
    Thanks a lot!!

So sorry for taking so long to get back to you! And please post wherever! Took a bit of a break with work.
So range extension... I played with a static test of charging the main pack using Lipos in series. So, it worked in theory, but my concern was the current draw from the LiPos if the board was under extreme load, so I didn't actually test it (also, I don't have the deck that has the aux pack main power bus access). I also ran into a problem....I thought the atlas would die. I thought something would break catastrophically on it, and I would then be able to run experiments on it and really frankenstein some stuff. Fortunately/unfortunately, the thing is still alive...after beating the living crap out of it. And the other problem is, I use it as a trainer board for newbs since the stance, rolling resistance and stability make it easy to learn on. This all to say, I kinda lost my will to brick my board right now. I'm leaning towards grabbing an auxpack at some time when exway has a sale or it pops up on ebay.
Range differences between awd and 2wd, not really. I only use 2wd accidentally when the ESCs lose connection (happened 4-5 times). If you really want to boost range, yank off the front gear drive and replace with just a set of wheels (unpowered). The rolling resistance of the gear drive is noticeable, and I know it is sucking down amps when you try to accelerate it.
A totally different idea/option is to use the fast charger if your park has outlets. I've been going on firebreaks and trails, so my access to mains power has diminished, making aux pack a better fit for me.
I really hope you're enjoying the machine. I still think this is the best board I've ridden. And no, no sponsorship or freebies from exway, just a fanboy.

@@skatedoc9567 Thanks a lot for taking the time to get back to me. The 2WD and replacing the front gear drive with unpowered wheels seems like the soundest idea for range extension. In the meantime I've decided to keep it as a "weekend & forrest" board so the 4WD would do. Same as you I'm waiting for the AUX Pack price to be less obsecene and I'm going to go for it.
Glad to hear that it can take a beating, I just came from the middle of the forrest and the rain caught me so yeah... back to the mighty internet for questins or to find people that had a similar experience with it :)). You can imagine that I left it in the sun a bit to dry before I asses the damage :)
Did you have any experience with heavy rain and deep puddles and how did it perform afterwards? I know the wheel bearings are replaceable so I guess as long as water doesn't get into the actual motor it should be fine. Right?! :)

@@mirelmanole9238 I have run it through deep puddles (see one of the shorts). I haven't had any issues with wheel bearings starting to squeal yet. I haven't babied it, so it has gone on the charger wet and muddy. I did...initially...use WD40 on exposed motor joints, I'm hesitant to use it too often as it is a solvent and will eat up any grease in the bearings, but at the same time Water Displacement (WD) is what it does....

@@skatedoc9567 Haha yes, I can already tell that it didn't mind that much going through deep puddles and a little rainstorm. I am however curious as I was never able to take it all to way to 30 km/18 mi as advertised. So you're the best person to ask because you are the only other person I know that has 4wd gear drive like me:
      - Were you ever able to to take it to 30 km/18 mi?
      - My best is 13-14 mi from 100 to remote virbrating (about 10% battery) on mostly flat ground, asphalt and constant speed at gear 2
      - My average is around 11-12 mi from 100 to remote vibrating on my forrest trips - rough terrain and occasional hills
Ah, and also - what is you average range?
Ah, and also2 - Have you ever had issues with the inner tube? I keep patching mine as I wait for a replacement from Exway and it's getting very hard to unmount the tire/tube from the rim as the silver ring that's supposed to be detachable doesn't detach as easy :)
Thanks a lot!! And looking forward to your videos if you plan on doing any. Might start doing some myself once the AUX Pack comes in (Already ordered)

@@mirelmanole9238 Unfortunately, I don't run the Exway app on my phone, so I can't forensically check my max range. I definitely have managed ~15 miles when I was first learning. But that was strictly on flat parking lot terrain and gear 1 as I got used to the board.
Realistically, I'll get 10 miles on gear 3 commuting through my hilly town. If I go with turbo and thrash it in the woods or neighborhood hills, I've hit vibration at 6 miles. There is a massive jump between gear 3 and turbo. This is actually an interesting thing my buddy noticed. He was riding it on gravel and found it more stable with turbo than gear 3. I've noticed on lower gears, generally one wheel seems to be powered before the others. Turbo, I've noticed all wheels are simultaneously powered. I don't know if this is an ESC artifact or actual programming. It very well could be the sheer amps being dumped into the motors erase the slight discrepancies between motor response, but that is a hypothesis.
RE: innertube. Crazily, no. I actually changed my tires for the first time last week. I upgraded to 200mm tires in the process. I did have issues with the silver retention ring, and had to use 2x crowbars to remove it. This is the tire I upgraded to (not affiliate link):
      www.amazon.com/dp/B08N9T4DN3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I highly recommend the 200mm tires. They shave off maybe 5 to 10% on range depending on setting. But they soak up gopher holes, pavement to grass transitions, pot holes so much better. The acceleration is better, but with a slightly noticeable decrease in torque with hill climbs. The big downside is the fenders don't fit.
I have a ton of video recorded, just haven't gutted out editing anything. My buddies have a trampa, ecomobl telum and a maxfind FF. So we'll be doing some duels and reviews of those, to see where atlas sits in the mix.
Congrats on the AuxPack! I'm trying to justify it as a way to power my frankenbuilds. But I still need some convincing! Looking forward to your vids!

Hi doc, how long it took the shipping of your board ?
They advertise 5-15 days work. But every year for black friday they seems non existant in the warehouses around the world.

    • @skatedoc9567
      @skatedoc9567  10 місяців тому

Ooof, shipping was a bit rough. But I can't say for certain because of all my indecisiveness. So I accidentally ordered the Atlas (not Pro) version, it took maybe a week and was actually out for delivery when I realized the mistake, contacted exway and they returned it. I changed the order to the pro and then changed it to gear drive. That took 30ish days since the gear drives were new and they hadn't pushed them to US warehouses and they had to send from china. I would trust the 5-15 day for a mainstream or even legacy board from them. But if it is something new from them, I'd anticipate 30 days and hopefully be pleasantly surprised !!
