Really awesome you were given the opportunity to showcase this upcoming map along side the devs. Probably the most atmospheric and "gritty" map 2042 is going to have. Can't wait to give this map a go because I could already see this being a fan favorite.
I’m a huge fan of Shashank here and in the podcasts too. He’s really been a huge key in turning this mess of a game around. I hope he takes a larger role in the next game.
It looks absolutely stunning. I really hope it'll play well too and maybe it'll turn into a classic map people want to see return in future battlefields
All the other maps look like they were built by using the same 20 different assets. This is co pletely different, can't wait to play it. The layout seems good it really looks like they learnt on their mistakes. If this is the standard for next game at least we don't have to worry svout map quality.
We've absolutely loved the inside looks into how stuff works behind the scenes. Transparency between the creative teams and the players provides a much greater understanding for both parties and dice have done a fantastic job of lowering that barrier over the last couple of years!
That fake sky with the forest actually feels super claustrophobic. Also loving the color tones and the overall atmosphere and attention to detail, i'm more for outdoor maps with vehicles but this just looks incredible!
Great observation about the Biodome section. That was my initial gut reaction too, yet I hadn’t realized why until you pointed that out. Ive never even played battlefield, but I stumbled across this recommended and stayed because of the art design. The body bags have that hyper realistic quality that’s pretty striking.
The idea of bio-domes can go so far. These are just two but I’d love to see a tropical or redwood one in the future. Imagine a bio-dome big enough for vehicles too. In a world like 2042 with bad weather patterns, it wouldn’t be too far to expect people to try taking shelter in underground controlled environments
As someone who was kind of against having a locker/metro type map, this map is beautiful and this is probably the best way they could have done a locker styled map. The biome areas are amazingly nice touch to a CQC map. What will probably be underappreciated is that I like how they understood the issues with the locker and Metro and how to address them.
@yobama5288 locker was too one sided depending on who got to the center first as for metro I can't say since I played operation underground from bfv which played a whole lot different
@@yobama5288 Not everyone like the "meatgrinder" maps, where most of the rounds are just people focusing on one or two choke points and that's it. From time to time one team pushes other one to the base and they stand there until the end of the round. But there is also some rounds where teams are pushing each other back and forth and this is the most fun experience. And there is no vehicles of course.
as a uk resident, I am incredibly pleased that the Eden Project is a direct inspiration for this honestly amazing looking map. I am honestly hyped for season 6 !!!
Despite how it might play. I can confidently say this is the best, most creative, more memorable map in the game and I hope if they make more they keep up the level of detail and “cool factor”
I really like the fact that I could listen to these guys explain the thought process of map design. It’s very enlightening as a player and (I think) is super important to a have trusting playerbase. This is a good direction DICE!
The first lore accurate map! It finally feels post-apocalyptic, like there's an air of desperation, a sense that one will need to do anything to survive. I really hope they can crank out a few more maps before this game is done and it actuallyt makes me hopeful that the next game will have this level of care and attention given to the maps.
@jgsource552 except that's just a hyperbolic nonsense description of the other AOW maps. All of the maps are unique with interesting environments to fight in and traverse. Go take a look at the Ukraine war if you want to see just how bland and uninteresting real war locations can look like.
@jgsource552 lol that had nothing to do with it... Season 1 map is one of 6he biggest maps in the game yet is one of the most detailed and interesting ones.. so no ur analogy is bs
This map is just straight up cool. Regardless of the drama surrounding this title.. the maps theyve made beyond the base game have really shown that they've learned alot through out development.
Really insightful interview they dive into the questions and developments thought process they had during development. Extremely appreciative of the art and development style
It really sounds like they gave this map more thought about how it plays, such that it'd probably inform any subsequent maps they make for the better... hopefully it's not the last one they make for 2042!
0:56 "What's actually taking place behind closed doors are these pretty horrendous experiments on No-Pats" - Sounds like the place where DICE developed BF2042
I live right next to The Eden Project in Cornwall UK, it’s so similar to this map I had a feeling that might be a reference to the new map! That’s so cool! Inside it’s like a jungle, just like Eden Project!! Love it!😁
Imagine if there was an artificial sky control computer we could destroy on the map, destroying it will cause all of the holographic canopy panels to blue screen
Map looks incredible and I know for a fact it will be one of my favorites for sure, if not my favourite. It reminded me more of Locker before I saw this video and I'm happy about that
I am very happy to see that we finally are getting in some way, shape or form operation metro back into BF2042 and the FIRST infantry only map that bf2042 desperately needed. I only hope they bring some older maps into portal; i feel portal has been forgotten and this is a feature that we need moving forward in all future BF titles.
This map really gives more of a Battlefield 1 vibe. It reminds me of fort de vaux and Argonne, with the map building of Metro 2014 and Operation Lockers. Both of which i have have played far too much of and was really disappointed not to see in 2042. The lack of infantry onlu maps really pushed me away from 2042 as a whole, so maybe I'll have yo give this it another try.
Love the aesthetics of this map. Looks stunning, but also a really interesting visual direction. Think this new kind of map "art style" is something that Battlefield really needs, as opposed to X generic forest/desert/jungle/open field/island again.
True but the reason why I like those generic forest/desert maps is because of the sheer destruction you could do. I miss battlefield having a normal building collapse and fully destroy like a classic bf game.
Great content! Love the Q&A commentary while showcasing the new map. Also, love the gameplay bits at the end (12:55) that showcase more destruction than the gameplay trailer!
Great video and great insight on what goes into the maps. Keep it up with these types of videos, they easily separate your channel from other BF content related channels
I'll have to admit, Redacted is the most unique map of 2042 asset wise, with Exposure and Spearhead being second and third in terms of uniqueness. If this plays well in public sessions, this will surely be the ultimate fan favorite of 2042 of all time. Love the photogrammetry behind the blood text in the floor, as well as bodybags in the map (yep they used actual bodybags behind the scenes!) as well as the transparency of these devs
I'm enjoying the live interview format. It's not something I've seen do with other game devs. Thank you for asking the right questions and getting them to explain everything.
It's great to see interviews with devs and get more insight into design and ideas behind the maps, loved the interview Hope to see this more often and hats off to devs for interacting in such ways with community!
Good work Level back to your old ways being in the know with the dev's. Wicked looking map guys from my first impression. Hopefully you bring a new weapon or soldier camo with the Easter egg/ Phantom program. Ps not a bow please..... "I have Robot legs!" lol Grand-mamas boy. Stay cool people
Hmm, looks pretty good. No doggo call ins since we’re underground I guess? Should help with some of the spam at least. The assets are very cool, night and day from the vanilla 2042 maps.
I wish Battlefield could break out of the "hidden secret facility" trap they've been stuck in with their map narratives for the past 2 years. Almost every map in the entire game is a hidden secret facility.
Please say the phantom program is back! Dice can't have forgotten operation outbreak container. "North of the Medical Facility a blue container may be found with an interactable hand-print scanner. During development in the CTE, the container could be opened into a descending stairway to a locked door with a camera that would follow the player, similar to what was done in the Phantom Program. Players may no longer open the container with the official release of the map as well as the addition of a sign above the scanner reading "Fermé jusqu'à 2142" which translates to "Closed Until 2142", referencing Battlefield 2142."
Even though I still don't really care for bf2042, however it's always nice to see them experiment with the game, maybe even carry it over to the next game!
Very good content, obviously this is not UA-cam preferred, but as someone in the community I can say that we need this content. This is what builds us.
It's weird, but I deleted BF2042 last night. I had preordered the Ultimate Edition and have had it installed on my Xbox Series X ever since. I needed room for the new Forza game coming out this week; so, I had to make a sacrifice. Since I just haven't been playing BF2042, I went ahead an deleted it. This map, however, kind of makes me want to reinstall. It's just a shame that I have to reinstall EVERYTHING to play that one map -- and I'll be lucky if that stupid, confusing and nearly-useless BF2042 menu system would ever allow me to select it.
This is how all the maps should feel. This looks like the best map design so far. Let's see how it plays.
It's an absolute meatgrinder. Feels like Bakhmut. Love the map tho

imagine a tornado comes through and rips the head of the dome off and then you're fighting outside aswell sht would be nuts
Not gonna lie this might be on of the best looking maps in BF history. I hope it will play good. Could be a future classic.
Looks really promising. love the background stuff provided in the dev notes and this first look preview...
No shipping containers. No sandbags. This is beautiful. Great job Dice!
This looks genuinely amazing, one of the most creative and interesting looking battlefield maps in general tbh real keen to give it a go

this map has crazy Titanfall vibes
Metro or Grand Bazar in BF3 and Lockers in BF4 were my favorite maps. Excited to see how map works out.
Omg i forgot about bazar 🔥
Bazar 🔥🔥 they had limited vehicles.
Bazzar was sooo good. Loved fighting in the alley. Trying to clear spawn beacons from those side rooms.
Really insightful interview they dive into the questions and developments thought process they had during development. Extremely appreciative of the art and development style

So...this place is basically Aperture Science in the Battlefield universe if you think about it and look at the hints
Every Battlefield NEEDS a version of close quarters (Operation Metro, Operation Locker) and open warfare. (Firestorm, Golmund)
If only the whole game was this dark and gritty, like it was supposed to be from the start.
