    I really don't like using foam for structure because, unless you seal it from the atmosphere, it will always deteriorate and disintegrate over time. That said, your hay bales look really good and believable. Cheers from eastern TN

    Thats a brilliant hay bale, I need some hay but am not sure about bales in medieval times? They look really good though, I have been around hay bales my whole life and these are well convincing! Its called baling twine.

      @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws Making hay into bales is late 1800s, not earlier. The clue is that wire is used, and wire had to be drawn by hand in the Middle Ages, making it very expensive. So before the 1880s, hay is pitched up into the hayloft from the hay wagons, and lies around in huge loose heaps. That's why sleeping in haylofts was a thing. In chilly weather you could burrow into the hay for warmth.

    Cool but not sure why you stained it first. I did them without the staining. 😌

    Just popped over from Dar Matter Crafts who suggested your channel. Those blocks would make great miniature lamingtons, lol. I really enjoyed the tutorial therefore I subscribed.👏👏👍

      Haha...I had lamingtons on the brain when I made those, putting that brown ink on, looked like chocolate sauce soaking into cake.. Then the sprinkling of coconut husk. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this. Thank you for subscribing, I hope you find some good stuff here to inspire your crafting!

      I made it from cardboard using an image online from the game Elder Scrolls Online. I created this a couple of years ago before I started making videos. But am keen to start making more buildings like this in the near future.

    How do you make the ink?

    • @dinkydioramas8349
      @dinkydioramas8349  2 роки тому +1

      I didn't make that ink, a man who was a paint technician years ago made it. Sadly it's now all gone and I'll have to buy some brown water based stain to replace it.

      I would imagine it would be yes, as it's made from coconut husk.
