Can't wait for the Dragon firmware update for the height speakers. Btw.. My Dragon is in a dedicated theater room 14'W x 20'L x 8'H with concrete a carpeted floor with 2 SVS 12" subs. No special sound treatment. Fully dialed in for room correction. Sounds F'n amazing ! Thanks for your honest review.
Some people love to sh*t on these types of soundbars when they've actually never even heard them in the right room setup. Their brain can only process black and white. It's obvious these will not replace separates... but for what you are getting, it's quite impressive. It won't fit every room correctly, but in the right conditions, they perform great!
I agree but I can’t get my surround speakers to stop popping after every single bit of troubleshooting so unfortunately I won’t ever buy another one. Sucks because they sound amazing
As cool as the AMTs are in the Dragon, we dont know the origin of the drivers, but the fact that Nakamichi uses Punktkilde drivers on the new wireless Shockwafe means that theres still strong attention to detail on how to engineer a good sounding product. Punktkilde is a OEM subbrand of Eastech whose products are engineered by ScanSpeak. The only diff between Scanspeak drivers & Punktkilde ones are that they're manufactured in Taiwan instead of Denmark so its a lot cheaper, and if you know anything about high end DIY audio, Scanspeak drivers are used in speakers costs $10-100K+ So you can expect excellent performance for a soundbar. It might even be more linear sounding assuming the crossover & DSPs are making everything flat.
i assume that they have greatly improved the quality of their soundbars. My old Nakamichi soundbar from 2017 was awful. I would be curious to hear these live but at the current price point you could just set up a wired system.
This Shockwave sound promising for my upcoming new house.... I was asking if the room correction software takes also care of surround and upfiring drivers levels and delays...
I have the Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 Channel 1000W and when it works, sounds great. But I have had enough glitches with sound randomly cutting out or long delays in sound returning when switching sources, after a pause, or subs frequently have terrible rumble/crackling sound even at lower volumes. Anyone experiencing these issues with any Nakamichi product? I want to love it but I’m very hesitant to invest in Nakamichi again.
when you say dolby atmos support is it just the licence gimmick, like most sound systems or is it like the premium dragon soundbar which has the real hardware dolby atmos only found in high end receivers?
Be careful with the Hype. You wouldn't know until you own one and play with it. Current Nakamichi soundbar is merely a Chinese 'quality' with Japanese Premium Price.
@hatoraidcowboy i own NAK Dragon, the 8" Subs are a joke for that price. You gotta experience their 8" subs first hand playing the Dolby Atmos contents. The low bass sounded like a subwoofer having asthma😆. The new 12" Subs current price is a robbery.
Thanks for this review, I saw part one and been waiting for part two. Shockwafe it is.
You’re welcome!
I have the Nakamichi dragon and I love it
Great stuff bro. I'm a Dragon owner and it sounds amazing in our home theater. Very interesting in getting the shock wafe for our living room.
Thank you!

That’s a good question
I would entertain the idea in a living room or bedroom, not my theater
Same.

They had that in a hotel room? You KNOW there had to be complaints!
They said they were scared they were gonna get kicked out lol

Its actually been certified by Dolby
Nakamichi stated that they pushed and got the Dolby Atmos license for receivers instead of sound bars.

Have you heard it?
Current Nakamichi has Japanese and Chinese engineering. Dragon is incredible.
