- One of three early Christmas "songs" taken from the gospel of Luke, Zechariah's song, or the Benedictus is prophecy bursting forth from the mouth of John the Baptist's father after 9 months of silence. It is a beautiful and rich prophecy which the early church quickly set to music and made part of morning prayer.
