This is the 2nd part of Jude's description of the kind and source of opposition which has crept into the church unnoticed. Nothing new and nothing to fear, but certainly it is wise to be aware of the enemy's schemes and confident that God empowers us to earnestly contend.

Christ be with you you very premise is wrong. St Paul st Paul is talking about Eph 2:8-9 he tells us is that Faith must establish the Law not abolish it (Rom 3:31) He tell us God will not be mocked that we must follow this law to receive eternal life (Gal 6:2-9) Jesus tells us that those who believe in him will do his works (John 14:12) this is the belief St John is talking about in John 1:12. St Paul says that faith must have love or we remain nothing (1 Cor 13:2) this is the faith being talked about in Rom 12:3. As Heb 11:1 tells us faith is the substance of things hope for. If we look down the Chapter we see what his substance was for each of these old testament holy people For Abel it was his excellent sacrifice (Heb 11:4) For Enoch it was his testimony. (Heb 11:5) For Noah and Abraham it was was their it was there obedience. (Heb 11:7 and 8) This Chapter is not about faith alone but faith and the works, the substance that perfected it Romans 10:13-17 St Paul is telling us why those should have believed the Gospel do not obey. If you had gone to verse 18 faith without obedience is nothing, as did Jesus (Luke 6:46-49) If you read the rest of Chapter 10, St Paul is saying they heard the Gospel but they did the did not obey. those who follow the false doctrine of faith alone threaten to become the same obedient and obstinate people. Yes God keeps his promises (2 Corinthians 1:18-20) but you are inventing promise God did not make Jesus is the author of eternal life for those who obey him (Heb 5:8-9) and he keeps it if the terms of his promise are kept. Faith alone is a false Gospel of Apathy. Only in obedience will we be saved. God bless you

Christ be with you also. Faith alone means simply this: there is no work of obedience on my part which can bring about my salvation - only Jesus' obedience to the will of the Father (Philippians 2:1-10). My obedience is the result of God's love for me. Jesus says, "If you love me you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15). I can only love because He first loves me (1 John 4:19). We are saved by grace, through faith (trusting in the work of Christ alone) who has reconciled us to God (Ephesians 2:1-10, 2 Corinthians 5:14-21). Only the obedience of Jesus has reconciled us to God. Apart from the work and obedience of Christ alone, we are dead in our trespasses and sin; it is God alone who is rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, who makes us alive together with Christ - (Ephesians 2:1-5). Oh, what a relief to realize that the burden of salvation has been completed by the work (obedience) of Christ alone, and the only debt I owe is the debt of love (Romans 13:8). And as I love I will be keeping the commandments of Jesus. Faith alone means trusting in Christ's obedience alone. God bless you.

@@plcpostfalls8337 Christ be with you *You say* Faith alone means simply this: there is no work of obedience on my part which can bring about my salvation - only Jesus' obedience to the will of the Father (Philippians 2:1-10). *Response* Sorry this is not what scripture tells us Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, *he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;* (Heb 5:8-9) How does Philippians 2:1-10 suggest in any way what you have said? *You say* My obedience is the result of God's love for me. Jesus says, "If you love me you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15). I can only love because He first loves me (1 John 4:19). *response* While it is true that our obedience is a result of Gods love not everyone has that result Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. (John 14:23-24) Are you suggesting that we are saved without loving God? *You say* We are saved by grace, through faith (trusting in the work of Christ alone) who has reconciled us to God (Ephesians 2:1-10, 2 Corinthians 5:14-21). *Response* You have provided you understand of Faith but not provided scriptures definition Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. (Rom 3:31) And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; *and though I have all faith,* so that I could remove mountains, *and have not charity, I am nothing.* (1 Cor 13:2) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12) This is the faith St Paul is referring to in Eph 2:8-9 a faith that establishes the law one which we obey Christ’s teaching and commandments for without that we do not have God (2 John 9) In 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 we are told “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” St John tells us how we can know we are in Christ *And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him,* and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1 John 3:24) That is why St Paul mentions just before the verses you provide Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. (2 Cor 5:9) *You say* Only the obedience of Jesus has reconciled us to God. Apart from the work and obedience of Christ alone, we are dead in our trespasses and sin; it is God alone who is rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, who makes us alive together with Christ - (Ephesians 2:1-5). *Response* While it is God alone who saves us through his mercy paying the price of our sin (Rom 6:23), he will save those who obey. (Heb 5:9) *You say* Oh, what a relief to realize that the burden of salvation has been completed by the work (obedience) of Christ alone, and the only debt I owe is the debt of love (Romans 13:8). And as I love I will be keeping the commandments of Jesus. *response* Please read the scripture around what you quote. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. *For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.* Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Also look for other references to the same thing. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. *Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.* *For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.* And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. *You say* Faith alone means trusting in Christ's obedience alone. *Response* Sorry faith alone is a false doctrine of apathy God will not be mocked he will give eternal life to those who so of the Spirit, who keep his commandments. Those who think they can just ignore his commandment will reap corruption and death. God bless you.

We are saved by the love of God for us, not our love for God. Our love for God is only possible and initiated by God's love for us (We love because He first loved us - 1 John 4:19). And such love for God will include following His commands (If you love me you will keep my commands - John 14:15). Faith alone, far from being a doctrine of apathy is putting our trust in Christ's obedience and work rather than our own. We cannot save ourselves. God's salvation comes in Christ Jesus while we are dead in our trespasses and sin and only because God is rich in mercy are we saved by grace through faith alone... not a result of works that any one may boast; (Ephesians 2:1-10). Saved by such lavish grace, we place our trust (faith) in Christ, abiding in Him (continuing in His Word as His true disciples) so that we can bear the fruit of His salvation in our lives as we walk by His Spirit (John 15:1-12; Galatians 5:22-25; John 8:32-33). Our works will fall short as a do all the effort's of man, but thanks be to God we are justified not by our good works but by the free of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Roman 6:23). Only in Christ alone, do we have the righteousness of God, which empowers us to live righteous lives (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).

@@plcpostfalls8337 Christ be with you Before I start can I ask why you did not respond to the scripture you were given. You ignored most of what I said *You say* We are saved by the love of God for us, not our love for God. Our love for God is only possible and initiated by God's love for us (We love because He first loved us - 1 John 4:19). *Response* Our salvation is because of God love for us but if it was solely that everyone would be saved. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. *you say* And such love for God will include following His commands (If you love me you will keep my commands - John 14:15). Faith alone, far from being a doctrine of apathy is putting our trust in Christ's obedience and work rather than our own. *Response* Your words are so un biblical Yes, our Love is evident in those who follow God. As was pointed out in the last message it is those who obey Christ who will be saved, Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, *he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;* (Heb 5:8-9) *You say* We cannot save ourselves. *response* Nor have I said we can* *You say* God's salvation comes in Christ Jesus while we are dead in our trespasses and sin and only because God is rich in mercy are we saved by grace through faith alone... not a result of works that any one may boast; (Ephesians 2:1-10). *response* We can not pay for our sin (rom 6:23) and so receive God’s Grace through faith. (Eph 2:1-10) That word you add, “alone” that is not in Eph 2:1-10, that is a false teaching. As I already pointed out and you ignore St Paul tell us that faith is not alone it brings the Law. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. (Rom 3:31) This is why faith alone is the Gospel of apathy it makes the Law void. *You say* Saved by such lavish grace, we place our trust (faith) in Christ, abiding in Him (continuing in His Word as His true disciples) so that we can bear the fruit of His salvation in our lives as we walk by His Spirit (John 15:1-12; Galatians 5:22-25; John 8:32-33). *Response* In regard to John 15:1-12 You are kind of making my point here this is not faith alone, John 15:10 tells us we abide in him by keeping his commandments. John 15:2 tells us that if we stop producing fruit we will be taken away John 15:6 tells us those not abiding in Christ will be cast into the fire. Do you not see how he is talking about our obedience? What do you think the fire is he is talking of? In regard to Gal 5:22-25 Again, making my point for me This talks of living in the Spirit, it is contrasting it with living according to the Flesh. (Gal 5:18-21) He continues on telling us we must live according to the Law of Christ. Then he goes on to tell us Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Gal 6:7-9) This is choice he is telling us those who choose to sow to the spirit will receive eternal life, those who chose to sow to the flesh will reap corruption. Again not Faith alone but obedience to Christ Law. St Paul out lines this Law In Rom 13:8-10 In regard it John 8:32-33 You missed of the pivotal verses Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; (John 8:31) Jesus goes on to say Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. (John 8:34) To be free of the bondage to sin we must abide in Christ word there by not committing sin. *You say Our works will fall short as a do all the effort's of man, but thanks be to God we are justified not by our good works but by the free of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Roman 6:23). *Response* We fall short because we have sinned. Christ forgiveness cleanses us of the unrighteousness that sin has cause. We cannot work for this we can only repent and confess it. (1 John 1:8) *You say* Only in Christ alone, do we have the righteousness of God, which empowers us to live righteous lives (2 Corinthians 5:17-21). *Response* As was shown by you in John 15 it is only those who keep Christ commandments who are “in Christ” It also true that is Christ who works with us to keep the commandments for as John 15:5 we can do nothing without him but do not be deceived we are not righteous unless we do good works. (1 John3:7) I am sorry the Gospel you are preaching is false. If you think I have misrepresented something you have said or something from scripture, please show me where. God bless you

Faith is not a passive ascent to an idea, but an active trust in Christ, who's obedience and work purchases our salvation. Faith in Christ receives and bears the fruit of love - God's love for us and our love for God which is manifest as we keep His commands (John 14:15). We are saved by grace, through faith as God works in us to will and to act according to His good purpose (Philippians 2:12-13). Faith alone is about trusting in Christ alone for salvation not our works or efforts that any may boast (Ephesians 2:8). If a man can be saved by his obedience (works) to the law, then Christ's work is unnecessary. Our obedience is the result not the procurement of salvation. We can only abide in Christ because He has first raised us from the dead (Ephesians 2:4-10). We can only love, because He first loves us (1 John 4). He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that free from sin (the result of Christ's work, not ours) we might live for righteousness (1 Peter 2:24). Freed from sin, we are then freed to live according to His commands - apart from Him (Christ's work on our behalf, freeing us from sin) we can do nothing (John 15:5). Any 'faith' that does not bear the fruit of righteousness is no faith at all. And any faith that adds our works to the work of Christ as needed for salvation is no faith at all.
