Incredible. This video encompasses a lot of my being. My new favorite track from my favorite future funk artist, a plethora of anime I love (especially loved the city hunter and most of all OG Gundam), and amazing editing that doesn't need effects to perfectly match the tone and beat of the music. @@JohaQ I'm really glad you read it and felt that way, fitting for a final piece. It sounds cheesy and I even considered not making this reply because it felt like one-upping myself, but I still wanted to let it out. I once made AMV's too but I've since then started to pursue other creative outlets so my projects stopped being worked on (I'm starting to consider finishing one of my last edits after seeing this). So to see this is like seeing exactly something that I would have wanted to make if I kept editing up. AMV's are art and this piece honestly really connected with me. I know you're (probably) done for now, but I'm definitely going to go back and watch your other work! Your editing style and taste in music and anime are right up my alley.
Seriously, thank you for providing such heartfelt feedback. It's pretty rare to read comments like these and the fact that they're coming from a fellow editor makes them all the more moving. I'm in the exact same boat. 10 months ago or so I was pretty determined that I was ready to move on from this hobby for several reasons. It's not like my appreciation for this stuff had dissipated, but rather I knew that I should shift the focus of my free time to pursuing a career in filmmaking. That being said, editing was my first real creative outlet, and the two years I spent making these videos (and a couple years before that making silly, unrelated videos) were a valuable learning experience and a halcyon period of my life, so it's always going to have special place in my heart. And clearly I'm not really able to move on, because 9 months later I still can't help but feel that same old impulse to piece together some visuals when I happen to hear a song that particularly resonates with me. Anyway, I'm just really glad that you shared your thoughts because I never expected to have an exchange with someone whose experience with and insight towards this stuff mirrored my own. I'm going to check out your work as well. Once again, thank you so much, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. Peace.

@@loweffortamv8407 Holy cow that's a cool coincidence haha. Yeah for sure, after all editing is a fundamental component of the filmmaking process, and in an age where most editing is done digitally, having the experience of working in programs like Premiere Pro really helps. I'll inevitably cease to make these videos, but I hope to one day make films that feature the same qualities of sharp synchronization of music and action (which is why I fucking love Baby Driver and anything by Edgar Wright haha).

2:21 I love this transition. It captures how you use the right clip for the right part of the song. The hard slam of the first part transitioning to the fire makes it hit so hard, then she emerges from the fire right when the jingle happens. Brilliant stuff, ABSOLUTE QUALITY
This video is the epitome of great editing. All these clips have just such beautiful, smooth, perfect timing. It's so enjoyable, especially during the quiet part, you show the nostalgic and old animes to really give that vibe. Just amazing.

I clicked off of the video because I supposed the lyrics were going to kick in anytime soon, like I do with any AMV
But then the lyrics didn't appear and I noticed it's just music, I had to stay and watch the entire thing just out of sheer interest and fascination with how well it fits and how well it transitions between clips, it's really really beautiful, this is the kind of thing that I could just watch over and over again and never get tired of
