Lyrics
This may come, this may come as some surprise
But I miss you
I could see through all of your lies
But still I miss you
He takes her love, but it doesn't feel like mine
He tastes her kiss, her kisses are not mine, they're not mine
He takes, but surely she can't give what I'm feeling now
She takes, but surely she doesn't know how
Is it a crime?
Is it a crime?
That I still want you
And I want you to want me too
My love is wider, wider than Victoria Lake
My love is taller, taller than the Empire State
It dives, it jumps and it ripples like the deepest ocean
I can't give you more than that, surely you want me back
Is it a crime?
Is it a crime?
I still want you
And I want you to want me too
My love is wider than Victoria Lake
Taller than the Empire State
It dives, it jumps
I can't give you more than that, surely you want me back
Is it a crime?
Is it a crime?
That I still want you
And I want you to want me too
It dives, it jumps and it ripples like the deepest ocean
I can't give you more than that; surely you want it back
Tell me, is it a crime?

Everytime you listen to Sade, you think this is her best one, and then you hear another song from her, and then you think, no this is her best one. They are all master pieces.
Ong man, Absolutely for fact
After this song what would you recommend i listen too
@JoseHernandez-mg8gk Smooth Operator, Cherish the day, But my top favorite has to belong to 'Nothing can come between us' you will not regret it
Heh I was just listening to another Sade song and thought that I should try to rank them. Then I realized it would be too difficult. Now I'm here listening Is it a Crime again and this comment further confirms it.
FOR REAL
It’s a crime that music today doesn’t sound like this
yes it is
It can't. Not unless she's the one doing it 😉
Right man
You wouldn't know how dark the lyrics are unless you watch the video though. She sounds angelic when she sings; her voice is so calming.
Music absolutely deplorable

Dear God above...please send me back in time when I was young back in 1980's...music was so much better back then.
There is no other voice like Sade. She's the epitome of smooth, rhythm & cool. So unique, beautiful & talented. Amazing vocals!
Puuurrrr✨
Sade, Annie Lennox and Tracey Thorn are league of their own. Unic contra alto voices.
@@coltthestarsheriff3544 Do you remember Mimi Riperton? The big hit, Loving You. (Is easy cause your Beautiful). I'd put her in this group. Sadly she died of Cancer at a young age. She was on the Tonight Show a few times. Johnny Carson really liked her. She had a range like Mariah Carey.
The personality in her vocals comes mainly from two things, she does not sing constantly, she has a whisper thing going on and the other really noticeable thing in her singing is that she sings in a higher pitch than the band (basically being off pitch often and she does not correct it like many do with vibrato ). That´s the secret that makes her voice and singing so special. She said it her self: "i have no musical training". Special and very interesting personality.

Sade music is only for the classy and sophisticated. light a cigarette, pour a glass of wine, loosen your tie and just sit staring at the manhattan skyline.

So true. You paint a great picture.
I always wonder how she managed to stay under the radar for over two decades.... no gossips no scandals no nothing. seems as if she just come sing her heart out then go home with her family at some quiet neighborhood.
And that I respect most about her. I love Mariah but oh lord she over does it with the publicity crap
ikr
Thats something she has truly mastered completely over the years as a artist, mother and woman (: complete class, beauty and solitude totally (: without any disturbances or distractions what so ever period (: Thats Sade (:
She is one of the most recursive artists I've ever encounter in my whole life. To see a picture of her is hard because she's uber private and doesn't care about fame. One of the many artist that doesn't care of FAME. She always says in interview she always wanted the music to be loved, but she wanted no parts of the fame and recognition.
+Michael Trapp These days you have artists who release one song and already call themselves a legend or get wrapped up into the fame but your catalog doesn't even give you the bragging rights.
This was on the Radio all the time. Its crazy now that this was normal music for us back then. So Good.
I’m 15 and I discovered this song on TikTok… I’m flabbergasted it’s so good and majestic!!! HER VOICE ? THE TENSION ? OMG!!
U must check out her albumz !!

@@5starmichelingirl why tho ? 😭
Living legend. She deserves a legend award... why hasn’t she been nominated.
So sad right ..
Sade is above that.
She is one of the DIVA'S. Up there with Cher.
Someone mentioned that she should be inducted in the RNR Hall of Fame n I thoroughly agreed.
Elisha Moore Cher isn’t even CLOSE to Sade. Sade is the Baddest female artist the industry has EVER seen point blank period.
I feel very lucky to be 50 years old. Starting in high school, Sade has been the soundtrack of my life. For a white guy from Kentucky she was an unbelievable beauty. I later moved to Florida and married a beautiful young lady of African decent from Montreal. We are still married all these years later. The thought would never have crossed my mind before I saw and heard Sade. There is nothing better than listening to Sade with the wife who is speaking French in her own contra-alto voice. Discussing nothing but the days events. For over 20 years I have been the luckiest person I know. I wish everyone could find such joy in life.
Regular Guy; First, you are anything but a regular guy and I love your story!! Sade's music is for all but it is for you and your wife's special love even more! So happy for you :)!!!

It’s crazy how criminally under appreciated i feel this entire band is. They are just magnificent!

In what circles? Among teenagers? Most people that are into music are very aware how good they sound.
WE NEED MORE CLASSY SINGERS LIKE SADE IN TODAY'S MUSIC WORLD.
I love how sade’s fashion is so 80s but her music is completely timeless
Most of her fashion can be worn today and still look classic and timeless. Her hoops, jeans, jackets, hairstyles, everything.
Sade is an original individual through and through for sure🙏🏼
She is 61 now, I’m 28 and I’ll still marry her.... her grace and beauty is unmatched

I am 42 years and decided to play Sade classic songs at the start of the summer cause I was feeling nostalgia. :-) and listen hear, I didnt know my my 7 year old and 5 old daughters where listening to me listen to this music after a week of playing songs every morning before work. When I tell you I was shocked to hear them singing along by the end of the week!! They kept saying momma play that lady's song again. Her voice is so pretty! Then I showed them the vintage videos of the songs and they have fallen in love with SADE! Ordinary Love is their favorite! The belt out that song like they wrote it and love her being a mermaid in the video! Is it a crime and smooth operator the love too. The surely get a kick out of watching Sade's video and live performance for hours with me. When I tell you Saturday and Sunday Mornings are the best binge times I spend with my girls! Sade's music is magical!

Dayum bruh, your a real fan.
Heartstrings melody of unrequited love. Sade expresses it all.
When I was stationed in Germany, the soldiers and the civilians were nuts about Sade in 1984-86. Her band was really tight. The band always sounded like the studio recordings whenever they performed in concert. Her voice is so smooth and mellow. Brings back great times that I don't see existing anymore. It's too bad that many of our children can't share the joy that we had in the 80s and 70s.

I was stationed in Japan in 86 - 88. I’ve loved this lady‘s voice and the band since the first time I heard them. There are some amazing singers out right now, they just don’t make it to mainstream. But the “class” and humbleness is definitely rare😔🇺🇸

No the person I want will be gone 17 years 3 days after Christmas
It ripples like the deepest ocean.
After 35 years she's still the one, ALWAYS & FOREVER! Great memories.
Im 21 years old but people think I have the music taste of a 50 year old woman. Got that from my parents 😂. But in all seriousness Sade is one of my favorite artists of all time! Thanks to my parents for hooking me on to this amazing music!!!!
You are lucky and waaaay ahead of your peers. When I was 21 I dumped a girl because she said she didn't like Sade?!?!?
Nothing wrong with it
I grew up that way as well being put onto all kinds of great music. Now I'm older and making sure my young son learns about all the GOOD music out here and not just what they play on the radio.
What's gender got to do with musical taste tho?
Sade's music is timeless and ageless. I was listening to her when I was a kid in the 80's. Just enjoy the vibes.
2024!!! Anyone else here wi' me?
hereee
Right here, Dog! (DMX voice)
Not just you, lol
You’re here for good once this song casts its spell on you
Чого постійно запитувати?Хтось завжди поруч.
Back again. Satisfy your soul. 😎🎭✌️
Sade is the most beautiful, sensual, talented, and sexiest female artist on this planet to yours truly!!! An absolute true living legend! She is the complete package!!! She is an incredible woman and I will adore her forever!!!
Agree
Agree
In Argentina there is a singer similar her name is Sandra Mihanovich
The trumpet with mute solo is crazy!
Micah Rocco sexy as fuck!
I agree!
Muted trumpets are the best
Driving at night through the city whilst it is raining listening to Sade is absolutely EVERYTHING
I think that's more than a song that's an experience
God damn dude I don't trip over celebrities physical appearances, but this woman? Fucking JEBUS CRISPY SHE IS GORGEOUS! Man...
Never knew a voice could sing love and heartbreak simultaneously with such ease. Definitely my fav female artist! So many memories...
My favorite Sade song of all time. Such a beautiful melody throughout. Just pure bliss for the ears
I've never heard this song until today and that is definitely a crime..... great song
Hers is the voice of elegant, smoke-filled clubs that played classy music. What a stunning voice and beauty.
I'm convinced she's a honey and champagne soaked angel.
"Is it a crime" how much i love this song
No
i really hope not, but at least we'll have good company in song-enjoyment prison
my friend recommended this song to me and my life changed
I’m literally 17 & I feel like this will always be my favorite song 💗
Sade has this embedded classiness about her that no other artist possesses. She's got this city night life vibe, classiness and vogue style that's unparalled in any other artist. This song is in the same class as Smooth Operator from 1984.
D XD you described it so well! She is the epitome of chic, female singers now only can dream of having an inch of her coolness and class!
You summed it up perfectly. She has this night life slow jazz New York feel feel that I haven’t heard from any other artist. In addition, the uniqueness and raspiness to her voice just elevates the quality of her music to a different level. I’ve never heard anything like it to be honest. Absolute legend.
Why is she not in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame.
Only she knows. But you're right. And why BET didn't do the same for her R&B song of the yesr
She’s not really a “rock” artist but ok
@@SizzlingVibe Rock artists aren't the only ones that get inducted, and rock is a broad term anyway
That's true you don't have to be a rock star to get inducted, Tupac was inducted back in 2017
ISN'T THAT A SHAME 😲
