I don't show a code about the coolant temperature sensor, but I suspect it is bad. Symptom: When I turn the key to on position, without turning on the engine, the temperature gauge goes all the way to red "hot". Car engine has not been on for two days. Is this the same sensor that would cause such a symptom? I'm thinking the sensor is "stuck" in the hot position. Also, isn't there a temperature sensor on the water pump too? Are they the same part?

Is this the same for a 2013 vw cc 2.0t?
Which sensor throws the code ? And this will be same location for my 2015 Tiguan ?
I think so because the title says "2009-2016 2.0L Volkswagen Tiguan"
