This time it’s variant, the Redcat Racing Ascent Fusion found here: bit.ly/4an7VyV It’s based off the Ascent RTR Crawler released a while back but this one got a parts overhaul with goodies drivers usually purchase as aftermarket. This rig has a carbon fiber frame, lots of aluminum bits, brass and is even equipped with a brushless system. All that in an RTR is kinda unheard of. Man RedCat just SMASHING IT!!! Seems like not so long ago a LHS (sadly gone now) had a warning sign… we don’t work on RedCats! Betcha they would have changed their tune by now. Can not deny the serious hobby grade Value they now bring to the table. ESPECIALLY in the crawler market! Keep it up RedCat!!!
Still have not seen any hobby shop carry Redcat yet here in New York state, but maybe some decade they will.
That's why there out of business times have changed and they stayed in the past .

Redcat does decent these days for what you get for your money. I started out with a Redcat - Everest 10 for $169.99 & then moved on to other brands. Now knowing what I have learned, I will never go back to Redcat in all honesty.
As a basher. And been looking at crawlers for a while now and this Redcats has me very interested!
I started with bashers and now the crawlers are taking the cake, it’s super fun to find a challenging trail and watch these rigs perform.

They are. Loud but strong
I love it. You can see a tire swap with some proper foams in it and it'd be great. I'm not convinced it's better than an Ecto out of the box but I'm digging it!
I know the Ecto could beat it in some spots, but I have confidence in the Ascent.

One of the things that I think is phenomenal about this build is the ability for shock placement and maybe the opportunity to play with those side to side stabilizer bars. You could tell, specifically in this and the Redcat video that those tires aren't broken in. Be really really cool to put this side by side with the other rigs I have. Very excited for the price point. Love the countersink on the screws. Love the color. Redcat is awesome. Really wish our friends overseas could get distribution. They're freaking great 👍

I’ve been a redcat fan since the Gen7. My son absolutely bashes his and it’s been perfect. I modded mine then sold it, but I’ll definitely be picking one of these up for my channel. Although it does take my favorite part out, which is modding, it saves a ton of money. Thanks for the review.
Very cool to see the local trails on the tube. I've been to that spot a few times but never with my RC.
What a nice rig man I am blown away at the value of this rig and I love how its setup and how nice it looks man they really styled this thing and gave us the parts and what we want in a crawler. Makes me wonder whats always coming next for the crawler world Im constantly watching videos and staying up to date on this stuff. I bought the redcat gen 7 but wasnt happy with it so I sold it and got a gen 8 and was fixing it up and adding parts and then right after I bought it they released the new gen 8 with cleared windows raised transfer case. I had to clear my windows and add the other upgrades to make it as good as the version 2.
Redcat really did their homework and listened to their customers. The price vs what you get is incredible. No way you could build this on your own for $400. Although, that tells me the mark up on retail parts is pretty high. Very little i need to change on mine but i would have like to have seen a 4 link front and SOA. One problem thats already common with these are the pins that connects the u-joints tend to come loose easily. Im not a fan of the battery tray placement either but thats fairly easy to address. Other than that i think this is an amazing crawler out of the box.

I love what Redcat are doing they are putting out some amazing products at affordable prices just such a shame there is no real suppliers to the Uk. Think they are missing a trick as i know a lot of people would buy without having to import which costs a fortune.

I would like to see 4 links up front and a straight axle. I'm not a fan of portals for a comp rig. Sometimes I will run portals on the rear axle only depending on the amount of steep climbs the course has. For someone starting out in comp, it's great. Wish I had something that inexpensive when I started. I'll get one for my neighbor's kids' birthday. He's always driving mine.

Redcat for the win! They could have easily tag this RTR at $499 and still beat out the competition!
The only things I'd change about it is some heavy beadlocks and Dual stage foams. I want to try the stock tires, but I'd change those to some tusks if I don't like them.
The Ascent is a great RTR. You could build a Gspeed or a VRD Cardon to out perform it, BUT for the price, you can not beat it.
What battery and charger do you recommend for it

Would you get this or a vanquish Rtr? I want to up from the micro crawler world and get my first 1/10 scale. Been in the basher world a while and I do fix and upgrade my own stuff so either option I’d upgrade but want a solid rtr platform to build off of . Another awesome video 👌🏽

They sold me on the Ascent 18. They killed it. Put all my other 18/24 rigs to shame. This is no different. Being located in AZ just like RedCat made my next decision to get the Fusion wasn’t even an afterthought. My Fusion should be here tomorrow!

the og rig had some issues. what is redcat innovating though or what is it pushing forward in the hobby? this is stuff we were already doing with the rig and the og chassis had issues. lots of pros, but what about cons besides tires?
Nice crawler, nice video as always but anodizing is a process for non-ferrous metals (usually aluminum) not steel. The coating is most likely Black Oxide.
Redcat calls it out in their features as “Black Anodized Steel Links” so I went along with their terminology.
Think this RTR is better than the Vanquish Stance RTR?
Is there a better rtr straight out of the box? Add in the price and it's near impossible to beat.
How much would this cost if it was being released by a company that uses more X's in names than most adult oriented websites?

This is the best crawler out of the box right now for the price. I like the updated axles. I dont like my gen8 stock axles.

Question for anyone. I'm new to crawlers, not rc's. I do a lot of trail hiking with my Capra and if i see a good crawl spot, I'll stop to play. People are telling me to take my overdrive out because I'm going to overheat driveline components while I'm just driving down the trail. Is this true? Might go for a mile or two hike with it.
I almost bought the Ascent over the Capra. I would have been upset if I did and then this came out a month later. Haha awesome rig. Especially for the money. Might buy one anyway. 💰 💰 🤑

Just when I thought I could keep $400 in my wallet. Lol
the front end geometry is poorly designed. the panhard hits everything,not allowing a normal amount of chassis droop, which holds the axle to far away from the chassis.Which gives it a difficult to fix,high center of gravity.And the panhard is mounted on the wrong side, chassis end on the same side as the front upper link which gives it horrible axle swing and bump steer when permitted to have shock droop. which redcat hid by putting the internal springs in the shocks. to fix it the suspension needs four link and axle mounted steering.
I just want kits I want to build them and put what I want in them not what they think I want that I have to pay extra for
no disrespect to rdo but i think this was shady af of redcat they just made our og ascents obsolete and ya know dam well they was working on this truck when they was selling the gen1
