I just look for interest that tends to vary seasonally and by my mood. i love looking through journals and notes written in colors that tell me how i was feeling when i wrote or drew. A little shimmer or chroma shading doesn’t hurt either.
I was apprehensive of the new format at the start of the video, but it’s extremely helpful as a new member to the fountain pen community! I have found that I don’t enjoy a lot of shading and I prefer wet ink🙂
I choose by color, I like a variety but nothing too light or too boring. I find myself gravitating to cooler colors, and often toward muted shades of blues. I prefer a “well-behaved” ink, something that is wet and will flow easily through even my fine pens. Thank you for doing a giveaway!
If I'm not looking for a flat ink, I definitely look to the base color and what shimmer it has. I'm fascinated by champagne and silver shimmers as of late. SO yummy!
I initially look for the ink color to match the theme of my journal page. Then I look at the other properties (sheening/shimmering/shading). Since I use inks to write in my journal, I prefer legible inks.
Love this new format. Much better than just packing. Please keep doing it. I like highly saturated and vibrant color inks. Not a fan of Sailor Manyo Ha Ha even though it's one of the most popular inks.
I like colors that really pop. And shades that a bit 'more' than the standard shade. So I like green-ish browns, blues that lean a bit grey, and deeper reds. I love shading, but the ink also has to be readable, so none of the super pastels.
I prioritize the color first though I definitely prefer shading for any ink. Sheen is cool but more of a silver lining (no pun intended) than an important element to me. Shimmer is a fun novelty but I reserve those for just one stub nib of all the pens I have.
Interesting colors - sometimes really saturated and bright and sheeny - sometimes murky and complicated. Occasionally a super sheeny and sparkly especially for holiday messages. So in summary all inks. Depends on day and mood. So my priority depends on my mood and likes at the time I choose ink to put in pens.

1. I want inks that will be safe in my visconti & other higher end pens, 2. Legible since I use my FPs for journaling and letters, 3. Interesting colors
The first thing I look for in my inks is: are the inks purple or a color close to purple. Then I love inks that have high sheen, shading, and shimmer. The only inks I really don’t like are flat inks. That might be why I have so many inks.
1. Color (muddy/earth tones)
2. Readability
3.Shading
4. Light sheening
What makes me gravitate towards an ink - SHIMMER 🎉 (I love shimmer 💕)
CoraCreaCrafts has amazing journaling products! Love their stuff.
I like that shades. Also any ink that glows under UV light! ❤
My inks MUST shade. I love looking back over a page of writing to see the difference between each stroke of the pen.

My ink priority is if the ink sheens. I love a good sheening ink!!

I prioritize color and saturation. Love my inks to have good saturation.

I just get an emotional connection to a color when it is bold and confident!

Prioritize color- prefer saturated colors. Also shimmer / depending on if I want a shimmer or not (or have one) in that type of color.
For me it is all about the sheen - the more the better especially with bright colors.
I've been selecting by color first, then properties and also brand.
A nice array of items today!
1. (Price 😬)
2. Color
3. Shimmer!
Or 4. Shading
Then 5. Sheen
Great format. I like inks based on color and shading. Not into a lot of shimmer.

Muted colours are my go to currently

Color. I always pick the ink by the color swatch …

I am swayed by swatches. I like an earthy ink that shades, especially if it fits into more than one color (i.e, is it green or is it brown).
I gravitate to the rich saturation of color when I shop for my ink as well as price point.
I want to see that color pop miles away.
Color has to be the post important. Some colors I just avoid because I find I don't like using them.
Ink color to match pen. Then shade. Sheen isn’t a big deal maker/breaker for me
I want to be able to read it. It needs to be saturated.
I prefer highly saturated inks, too.
I look for color first everything else is a feature of that.
shading, saturation and legible to read.
I'd match my inks to the pen frank in Oswego, ill are you going to sell duchmasters ink
