I absolutely love this series. Because of it, I've been learning and playing it exclusively. My rating has gone up significantly. I normally only play the Pirc or Czech Pirc as black so incorporating a new black opening for me has been awesome. I've always avoided learning the Sicilian over the years but now, I'm destroying people with it thanks to this series. It's absolutely the most rock solid opening I've ever played.

Taimanov is amazing stuff. It's color-complex mastery on a stick, and counterpunching from the word 'go'. At 1900, My record against master opponents is 3 draws and one loss. Smashes lower rated players, and I won a lot against my equals.
That KO at 41:00 was so insane, wow!!!!!!!!! I love this channel so much and the only game I play has been the taimanov with a good win rate all thanks to you.

Great series. I always played this opening but this is such a good summary of it. Playing it as white is new. I like that too.
That queen g3 move had me doing the “stank” face for a solid 2 minutes

I'm curious about the reason why someone would resign rather than let their clock run out with 1.1 seconds left on their clock. Higher rated players tend to do this more. Is it because it's a sign of respect for their opponent? Or does it serve a better purpose such as it appears on their stats or insight profile and having more losses due to running out of time rather than resigning looks worse? Genuinely curious
I don't think this is the reason for everyone, but for me and some other people I know it's a sort of "fuck this, I can't look at this garbage any longer", doesn't matter if you have a second or 10 hours, it's a matter of not wanting to see it anymore
Its obviously more respectable to actively resign than to stall a situation
