The secret mitered dovetail is one of the finest joints in all of woodworking. It cannot be replicated with machines and must be done by hand. Not only is there an immense amount of skill required to pull it off at a reasonable scale, but it also takes a lot of humility to spend so much time creating an invisible joint, to elevate strength and appearance over impressiveness.

true true, very true, and i bet he hates his wife because it takes time to create beautiful joints like that.
it also takes time to develop time to skills like that. and it’s so much fun, that one tends to spend lots and lots of time in the shop alone in peace and quiet to develop such skills.
it also takes time to gather nice flat boards in various places. it takes time to travel to these various places, and it’s safe to say that these places are not in close proximity to each other. we are taking days if not weeks of searching.
cone to think of it, he might not be married. well, no wonder he’s so good at what he does, and is happy and at peace.
he hates no one, there’s just love in his heart.
      hey, nice work !

you move the ruler to an easily dividable even number to make dovetail spacing easier - I mean dividing something like 16 and 7/124ths inches by 12 can be rather tedious
