Thanks for this biography and interview about my forever idol, Andy Gibb. I'm French and I grew up with him and The Bee Gees from the late 70s. The Gibb Brothers are genius. Bee Gees greatest Forever ❤️❤️❤️

I learned to much from tonight's episode! I've loved the BeeGees from the first time I heard their music. It's sad that Andy wasn't a major part of the group but he certainly was a shining star in his own right. I loved seeing all the photos chronicling his (sadly) short but amazing career. My thanks to Matt for sharing all the stories with us. And thanks to you, Jim, for bringing him in as your as special guest. Glad you're leaving that porch light on for him!

Wonderful interview with Matthew! 👏 I purchased and read his book as soon as it was published. Being involved in the Bee Gees fandom, I have a soft spot for Andy and I love how Matthew was able to celebrate his life in an honest and beautiful way.🙌 Was so happy when I heard that you were the one doing the interview, Jim! I first ran across your various series when you interviewed Nick Endacott-Gibb, so I knew this would be a great interview as well! Also, just in case it comes up again, Nick's dad's name, Maurice, is pronounced Morris...which seems the American way, but it's actually the way the English pronounce it! ❤ Thanks for this lovely chat! xx

I have this book and I have read it 2x now..Andy’s family ( from my understanding) never authorized, approved or contributed too this book..His daughter Peta also made negative comments about this author profiting off her fathers life with this book..Personally I enjoyed reading the book but I thought that the book was so very depressing and was sad and showed Andy’s life too be very tragic.. I can understand why his family would want nothing too so with it..

I can understand why Andy Gibb's daughter Peta was frosted - Dr. Hild interviewed some of Andy's friends who knew him while he was married and their accounts differed from Kim Gibb's. She also came across as less than a saint herself. The story about the bitemarks of Andy's arms was shocking and bizaare.
I'm so glad that Dr. Hild actually took the trouble to track down friends and co-workers of Andy Gibb. Bob Stanley's most recent bio of the Bee Gees seems to reply on press accounts and documentaries. Less than reliable to say the least.
Great interview and thanks so much. Will listen again to your show.

Matthew, I'm intrigued by comments Barry Gibb has made about psychological problems Andy suffered with. It almost seems that in his last few days in England Andy may have suffered a psychotic break. This is something that loved ones are VERY hesitant to talk about, and understand even less. Your thoughts?

Rick Lotempio told me that when Andy phoned him two days before he died, he sounded the best Rick had ever heard him.

I wonder if he suffered what we called at the time "a nervous breakdown." He started drinking again and wouldn't communicate with anyone until his mum came to stay with him.
I also wonder if Andy was biopolar.

@@elizabethmortimer6641 Andy stated in an interview that he had, in the past, suffered a "nervous breakdown" (after his split from Victoria), so it would not be surprising if he experienced that again. Appreciate your thoughts.
