Before the age of the cell phone, there was a pay phone at the top of the Campanile in Piazza San Marco. I called my parents from that phone in the late 80s. Also, a day trip to Venice from Rome is nuts.
I love Miles outfit 🥰 He is such a good little traveler and so well behaved. Enjoyed every minute of your adventure in Venice. Amanda you did an amazing job planning and then being tour guide. I would have been so list lol
Every view is just like the classic paintings. It’s so weird to think that all of those buildings are on manmade platforms of huge logs side by side hundreds of years old. Fascinating and beautiful.
OMG that story about you as a young man wandering the streets of Venice because you had no money and that man! I bet you reminded him of his son and he hoped someone would be kind to his son in America the way he was to you. That made me cry (happy tears). Humans can be so kind and awesome (and awful but we'll not dwell on that today.) Do you still have any of the elephants?
I love your travels so much, it really makes me feel like I'm there with you. And I've had alot of days where I've really needed the messages of inspiration you always have. Love you guys so much!
I was there 20yrs ago for my 30th bday trip. The one thing I remember was the waking up with a room full of mosquitoes. Definitely very memorable experience. Can't wait to take my little ones there one day.
Hi! I am going to Italy next May and I am celebrating beating Non small cell lung cancer. I started planning my trip to help me get through Low Dose Chemotherapy. I am so excited to visit Italy. I love all your videos! You guys make this world a better place!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amanda did a grand job planning this beautiful trip... and a better job keeping it all a secret. hehe First time to Italy was with grandpa, when i was 7. We went from Monaco to San Remo to Genoa to Parma to Ferrarra to Verona, To Milan, then to Lake Como and into Switzerland. At highschool we took a 2 week trip, organized by school, to travel around Italy. IT WAS MAGNIFICENT and we went from Milan to Rome to Naples to Cosenza then from the tip to the heel in Taranto to Bari and so up to Venice. Museum Galore plus our latin teacher ( whom was actually a professor of Archaeology but he taught latin to us had loads of connections getting us in the non public areas and even to ongoing excavations in Pompei). Great memories. During university years i always made it a point to travel at least once a year to Italy. We took a bikeride trip through northern Italy ( if you have the chance the northern lakes are so beautiful). Now i live and work in Switzerland and its easy for me now to just hop the border so to speak... Even though i live in Zurich region but have other properties bordering the Italy.. Locarno region.
Many thanks for taking us along on your trip!!! Wife and I and 5 kiddos lived near Lake Garda back in the mid 80’s. USAF stationed with the Italian Air Force. Great memories of Venice. I first went to Rome in ‘65. Had $1 per day to eat! Walked everywhere. Looking forward to more of your trip. Stay safe! Dan & Shirley. Layton.
Looks like a beautiful country! Your message spoke to me today, I feel like you got a glimpse into my mind. Sometimes I just don’t know where to start to move forward. Thanks for the beautiful sights in the video! Love following along your family trips.
I was in Venice in 1970…My husband was stationed in Germany. I couldn’t go into the Church because I had a tank top on and no sweater to use.. so my husband took pictures with a little Kodak camera we had . The pictures turned out blurry and unrecognizable. The Tech was non existent back then! Thanks for showing me what I missed ❤️( I got pinched twice before we got out of there. …lol. )
So awesome!! Good job Amanda! I was thinkin about the Indy tour the whole time and you mentioned it at the end!! I’m so jealous and happy for you guys! 🤪 Travel safe and thank you for sharing your travels!
I went in that cathedral about 45 years ago. There was no line and no crowds in the out door area. Women had to wear a scarf or some kind of head covering and no bare shoulders inside the cathedral. Times have changed. Hard to believe rush hour traffic in the canals!! Have a great time.
Wow !! What an awesome day and trip so far !! Thank you so much for taking us along. I know I will never get there myself but what a great time to be there with you !!! Looking forward to tomorrow's adventure.
So cool that you guys went there! It's such an amazingly beautiful place, so pretty and it definitely feels unreal. Very crowded and kind of smelly but totally worth at least a day trip there ❤❤❤
I left my heart in Sorrento Italy after going there three times💗🇮🇹 I did a full tour of Italy and stayed in a Best Western right in San Marcos square and was there for Mardi Gras the costumes were the best I had ever seen and I almost bought a mask in one of the shops. The best pizza in Italy was in Napoli but the best pastries were in Siena. My favourite town was San Gimignano a University town. Have a glass of Chianti for me so sad I will never be able to return even though I threw a coin in the Trevi fountain 😪💗🙆♀️🇮🇹
Isn't it maybe the craziest city on earth? Love it there. Those gondolas, by the way are around 80, 000 dollars, and the mahogany taxis can be like 250,000. That doesn't include the licenses which can be up in the millions.
Amazing! Thanks for brining us along. The first thing that came to my mind when yall were riding in the water taxi (other than how pretty it is) was the Indiana Jones boat chase from Last Crusade.
Amazing! I think that church with the dome was the library in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. It was when you first made it to Venice before the water taxi. Excellent job Cameraman Miles! Okay back to the video! Michelle from Omaha
Tequila? Orange juice! Good call miles! Glass making is such an amazing experience right? I love that it was elephants and I love that you found a good place. I was at Silver dollar city as a child in Branson Mo the first time I saw a glassblower. Its mesmerizing! Back to the video. ❤
Loved it! I have always wanted to go to Venice, gondola ride after I saw the Diane Lane movie with Sir Olivier. My favorite is the dish you got Amanda, I only found it in a tiny restaurant in Sherman Oaks that has been closed for years, forever looking for it. Guess I will have to go to Venice! Back to the video.
This was a great food. Those look like some great tours. The food all looked amazing. You do amazing videos and these adventures are so great. Hope you get to see Chiesa di San Barnaba, Campo San Barnada, Dorsoduro, Venice, Veneto, Itlay
Fun fact, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was filmed in Venice. I mentioned cause you made a Indy reference! Nice video ! Haven't been to Italy in over 10 years ! Need to go back
Was taking notes along the way as we're headed to Rome for Spring Break in 2025 and a day trip to Venice is in our plans. Was thinking of staying overnight to avoid the next day being a wreck so I'm interested in how that went.
Loved the video , planning to re visit venice nxt year , the first water taxi you took in the morning , was that just to get from station to st marks sq , no other reason ?
I’d love it if you guys put in the names of the places you ate and tours your took in all your videos, but especially this trip. Dying to go to some of these.
Loved!! I could feel Amanda’s utter joy of being in one of my favorite cities. So fun to enjoy this with you guys. Enjoy! Safe travels!
Venice is definitely one of our favorites too!
Amanda did a great job planning this trip, Amanda, Miles and you are such a nice family
Thank you! We are so glad you enjoyed the video.
Yes, great job Amanda. You guys are amazing! Terrific planning!
I enjoy the trip, thank you
Thank you so much for taking me on your tour of Venice/Rome. Amanda planned this trip so well, awesome…❤️👍
I did that. Took the train from Rome to Venice. Spent the day, took the train home. It was a lot of fun.
I bet it was a whirlwind of a day!
@@provostparkpassI was exhausted. 😂
I did the same last month. Lots of fun. Wish I could've spent more time though
Before the age of the cell phone, there was a pay phone at the top of the Campanile in Piazza San Marco. I called my parents from that phone in the late 80s.
Also, a day trip to Venice from Rome is nuts.
Whoa!! How cool would it be to get a call from there.
All of those islands are made with pilings, tree trunks pounded into the ground and the houses and streets are built on top of the pilings
I love Miles outfit 🥰 He is such a good little traveler and so well behaved. Enjoyed every minute of your adventure in Venice. Amanda you did an amazing job planning and then being tour guide. I would have been so list lol
Venice is such a quaint place. I love getting lost down all the streets and alleyways
Y’all are living the best life
It’s hard to believe that I was in Venice almost 30 years ago! It really is an amazing place!
We’ve been there twice. Planning a trip in 25. Have friends that live there. Can’t wait to see them again.
Amazing job amanda planning all of this!!!!! Love you guys. Thank you for taking us along ❤
I think is my most favorite place I have traveled to❤ So beautiful and unique!

I have been to Venice 4 times. It is a magical city.

I love your Disney videos but your overseas travel videos are amazing….so special ❤
Plz keep traveling. These are the BEST videos!!!!!!
Love that Amanda planned such a special day! Been to a few different cities in Italy but had missed Venice. Bellissima!
What a fabulous surprise!! I especially love the Norwegian flag on your gondola. My father was born in Norway! 🇳🇴
It’s always fun to find little connections on our travels!
I love your travels so much, it really makes me feel like I'm there with you. And I've had alot of days where I've really needed the messages of inspiration you always have. Love you guys so much!

If you ever go again… spend more time in Venice. There is so much to do and explore…. It’s the most unique and beautiful city on the Earth.
For sure. 💚💙

Thank you so much! Amanda’s really good at that
I was there 20yrs ago for my 30th bday trip. The one thing I remember was the waking up with a room full of mosquitoes. Definitely very memorable experience. Can't wait to take my little ones there one day.
I can only assume that Miles appreciates how remarkable it is for a kid his age to get to go to Italy.
Amazing trip; Amanda! Gorgeous scenery & amazing looking food! Hope you, Miles & Chris are having an amazing time 🥰🙏🏻❤️
I love the video. Also love what you said around 36 minutes. It helps 💗

Just part way through, but the vaporettos or water buses are a hoot as well.
We did the reverse the last time we were in Italy. Venice to Rome and back in 1 day. It was lovely!

We had a great next day. So it was worth it.
So cool!! Would love to visit Rome , I’m kinda scared now with all the pick pocketers 😢
Following the water taxi. Haha
I was waiting for this video all day lol wondering what Amandas secret excursion was. P.S GO PADRES!!
You bet I'm rooting for the Padres!
Nice!
Happy Tuesday taco Tuesday
I’m all about a good taco Tuesday!
Can’t wait to go to Venice one day! How did you find the tour companies?
Somewhere you won't want to visit again!
It's probably because you are less restrained on a train. You can move around, whereas on a plane you are stuck in your seat.
I think we need a PDF of all the places and restaurants with a link to them! We need to learn from Amanda’s research!
Great idea! We are working on a comprehensive itinerary that includes everything we did. Stay tuned!
Great day trip!!! 5 stars for Amanda!!! How much do you tip the gondolier and water taxi people?
Where did Amanda get that ivory and black dress she's in, around 28:19 in the video (and before that.)? I LOVE IT!
Amanda should get an extra nice souvenir, or late breakfast in bed. This is awesome 😮
If you ever have down time do you ever get the urge to get up and just walk since that is what you do for work all the time?
