Just killed myself glyphing, putting in winter wheat with forage oats, and top dressing the clover plots on account of getting rain yesterday and a humdinger a'comming this afternoon. The first planting rain we have had since early June, praise the Lord.
Dc Grant I was worried about the deer population this year since last year we lost most of the deer population to EHD. I still planted the system you showed me no till in to the standing rye with the Green Cover summer release mix. The deer have finally found it .an are using it daily now . The deer are all the same size looking like last year's fawn.there are15 buck an 8 does is all that im seeing on 30 differently camera's . My question is what to do to get more deer on the farm?? Since EHD devastated the population in my county. The only thing I see alot of is the turkey population has doubled in the last two years . Since I been taking out the predator's.. Thank you for all of your help an the Video's Bobby g Piedmont Mo
Congratulations on your work resulting in more turkeys!!! There will be more deer. If there is more food than deer at your place, then there's no need to harvest many does.
I planted a Small food plot on top of a big hill on the hunting property; I planted perennial mixes and my plants are about 3 inches tall. I have found a couple does on my trail cam, but that’s it. How can I attract more bucks to that specific area?
That's not accurate. Even if they all harvest by october, which they absolutely do not, that harvest is not 100% thorough. I still see soy beans all the way through winter. You can always make improvenents. I think what he means is that if you hunt in LaLa Land like Iowa, you just don't need to.
I hunt in Lala Land Iowa. All the neighbors around my property do habitat improvement. Guess who gets more and bigger deer? You’re correct! Those doing habitat improvement. Same concept as an arms race. Doesn’t matter where you are, habitat improvement is improvement, especially if you manage and plant for variety (options outside of corn and soybeans).
I live in Annapolis Missouri and I want to improve my hunting ground I live on 32 acors with a big hill on both sides of me how would I go about making this a better hunting ground
savanna is the optimal habitat for turkey and deer. big oaks and waist high native grasses and forbes. get rid of the trees that dont add value. locust, sycamore, and I know Grant terminates his hickory's and do prescribed fire to keep the hardwoods back and let the grasses and forbes grow.
I always start by identifying the most limited resource (food, cover, or water) during the hunting season and then working to have that resource where I hunt.
When you combine academic level research with real world experience that's how you get really good information. Thanks for supplying it gentlemen
Very good to hear an outline like this. Sometimes we tend to get obsessed with the footnotes.
Man i love watching your videos. I like how you explain the biology behind it and science
I lease 81 acres in middle Alabama. Black belt region. I’m going to do some food plots this year. Just so hot still here.
I'm in lower Alabama(coast). It was 90 today. I'm still waiting to plant clover and cover crop

Jason - There's no food that I'm aware that attracts more bucks than does are visa versa. There's a good chance bucks will come!
I’m curious why can’t you do habitat improvement in Iowa? Soybeans and corn are out in October. Still have lots of hunting time and hungry deer.

Quality cover is often the most limited resource in areas with intense ag and not many folks will create cover on production crop acres.

You call Dr Woods and pay him for his services... or just watch all the free content he provides and apply it yourself.
