I’m watching this afterwards because of church. I cracked up when you told how you brushed your hair with the dog’s brush, Matt. I love these and all of your tutorials. Thanks for it all!
I also missed the Live but enjoyed watching the replay. New subscriber here (tonight!) this vid popped up on my YT list and I'm so glad it did! It was very helpful to watch you recreate this photo on pencil, which I love using, and to get hints along the way. I started with pencil in the 1st grade and have used most all the mediums at some point in my 63 yrs. I'm an art hobbyist but have always wanted to be better at creating and carrying that out in whatever medium I felt would fit the art. My last learning curve was last year with watercolor. I am just not very creative and don't have much confidence bc I'm a terrible perfectionist. My goal for the fall is to get those pencils & brushes back in my hand and build up muscle memory. Glad I happened onto your channel. Very encouraging!😀
I held off on this one for 3 weeks- so much graphite… which is fine- at least it’s not leaves!! I’m surprised at how much I got out of this study. Matt you had me laughing the whole time, with your many bristle stories.
There's a song, "You're a pink toothbrush" about boy and girl toothbrushes. Thank you so much. I learned a lot from trying this and am so looking forward to trying your other tutorials and becoming a member of your website.
Ice cream that doesn't melt probably has oils in it. McDonald's mix has primarily vegetable oil and other stuff. I prefer ice cream made with minimal ingredients, with the primary being milk.
Love watching the steps taken to build up each layer. It helps me visually see that it's not just drawing it out, but building it up. Helps my brain put value to the time taken and to put an engine brake on my impatience with myself. Thank you for this! ❤
Hey Matt and Ashley. Great lesson! I don't have the opportunity to see all of your videos, but I try to catch them when I can. Your mentioning of "rotoscope" really got my attention. I have been toying with the idea of a flipbook as a graduation gift for my great nephew (he is only a junior at this time). I really want to try something of him playing baseball, maybe just an at bat, or a throw down to second to get a runner out (he's a catcher). Nothing really super lengthy, but something personal to him. Could rotoscope be used to achieve this type of thing, maybe? I had never heard of it until seeing this. Also, Matt, I know your Aunt Beth R. B. She's how I knew of your youtube channel. I really enjoy it and have learned a thing or two from watching. Sorry for the long comment, but thanks for listening. 😊
