I really like the music you add when you show time lapse. "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" is a great hymn and inspirational song, thanks for adding that.
I cut a d hauled logs a d poles to Picayune Ms. They sold me a 4 ft folding tape that will tell you the diameter, of the log and the board ft. I wish I still had it but that was over 50 years ago. Have fun and stay safe!
Hey Tyler & Brittany. It don’t matter what you guys film . Everybody will tune in to watch , including myself. I would like to see some more fishin videos. Next time you go out and put your catfish jugs out , tell us what kind of hooks and string you use . Another thing I like to see is when you show Aiden . He looks like a remarkable young I man . Get him to talk more , he is really quiet . Well anyway I enjoy everything you post . It blessed my heart to watch you and Brittany working together. You are and amazing couple. Keep it going and I’ll keep watching !!!
Hey Wallace’s. Love watching you all and your business grow! Wild guess 3690 bft. I wasn’t paying attention. I enjoy and thank you both for sharing your adventures! I Think you both have a Great Thing Going! I hope you have a Great Weekend! Thanks again!
My job for the mill is to find marketable standing timber. Once we find the standing timber the mill owners dad knocks on the door and gives his speal. He offers the land owner to pay for the trees we take before the logger come in and start the logging. We then use the Doyke scale to scale the standing timber at breast height. The loggers are paid by the scale again the Doyle scale) when the logs arrive at the mill.
Major timber company buys up all the land cleaning timber here. Good to see you're able to get plenty of good timber logs. Wondering if you pay more for hardwood than you do for softwood. My guess is 1934 board feet. Thanks for the video
My Grandfather explained board feet to me 60+ years ago. I wasn't really interested until I went to a mill to buy red oak and the first thing he asked me was "How many board feet do you want?".
Scaling logs by weight may be counter productive. A fresh cut log will be much heavier than a log cut weeks earlier which has an opportunity to dry some. Water is heavy.
The Amish saw mills in the next district to the west, Holmes County, bring their logs to their mills just as long as possible. Around here, the loggers optimize the logs on the landing before they are trucked.
poplar .023 cherry .032 red oak .028 white oak.054 walnut .048 chestnut oak( white oak) .032 pine .015 and so on here in va. prices are way down. hopefully that changes soon. hickory is as you want to pay. really depends on type. pignut and pecan bring the most. this is logs under 24 width. now of course the wider slabs(logs) bring more like the thicker slabs bring more per bft. i could and would never do that small of a profit. blade cost and fule will eat that up. not to mention break downs. but that works for you great.
Being a Independent Baptist I love Ol Gospel songs and Leaning On His Everlasting Arms
Will be sang at my funeral.❤ GOD IS GOOD
I really like the music you add when you show time lapse. "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" is a great hymn and inspirational song, thanks for adding that.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Out of all the channels I watch, I think you're the most authentic. Love your videos . Keep up the good work!
Thank you!

I believe it's best when you both scale the logs to see if you agree. I know that may not always be feasible. You guys work best as a team.
Thank You. That was very informative . Not a logger but I watch to see how things work
Glad you enjoyed it!
When you guys engage the time laps to some of your video clips, I enjoy listening to the Gospel music to the hymn “ Learning To Lean “
We did this in FFA back in the day.
Cheers from the great state of Arkansas!!

Do you take in account heart rot/discolored heart, sweep and large knots and holes into your scale calculations?
2879 board feet. Loving the channel.
What about the trucking cost - who pays and how much for a typical load?
Major timber company buys up all the land cleaning timber here. Good to see you're able to get plenty of good timber logs. Wondering if you pay more for hardwood than you do for softwood. My guess is 1934 board feet. Thanks for the video
Mostly pay more depending on grade. We typically buy low grade pallet logs.
Tyler my guess is 1957 board foot.
Thanks for the chance. Roger
feet is the plural
THANKS!
2845 bf is my wag... :-)
Great content!

2200 bf is my guess!.. great video. 😊
here, in germany, we dont know about bored feet, we calculate in 'Festmeter' (solid meter) which is middle diameter^2 /4 x length x 3,14
Never heard of that one!
That guy running the Kubota is really skilled. 2684 is my guess
. Estimated . 744 board foot. . beast on Ten log's 144 & 160 board foot average Les England 5, XXXXX large. thank you.
Okay, you have some gum and you have a pine log. What is the rest? And what would a buyer of dimensioned lumber do with gum?
Any thing for knowing they are called bolts? 🤓 I was IT at an industrial lumber company for 12 years.
do you only use pine for your pallet wood?
I use sidewalk chalk and a tape measure mark the wood
2045 ft, those long logs will add up
My Grandfather explained board feet to me 60+ years ago. I wasn't really interested until I went to a mill to buy red oak and the first thing he asked me was "How many board feet do you want?".
I think it is 2024, How are the horses doing after their teeth work and love your work
That’s to much for my pea brain
It’s over my head and under my feet 😂😂😂
But I really enjoy the video So thank you for sharing
Scaling logs by weight may be counter productive.
A fresh cut log will be much heavier than a log cut weeks earlier which has an opportunity to dry some. Water is heavy.
Agreed. Scaling is superior.
One million two hundred eight thousand board feet😂
Keep it!
That first log you unloaded looked like it had half the woods with it
we also have up here in bc canada another scale called scribner
I heard of that one!
By the time I see it, it’s 10 dollars a linear foot
You are smooth on the sawmills but that poor tractor catches hell.
do you ever take into consideration the grade of some of those logs when buying them and scaling
Yes. These are all pallet.
The Amish saw mills in the next district to the west, Holmes County, bring their logs to their mills just as long as possible. Around here, the loggers optimize the logs on the landing before they are trucked.
I like when they have been cut to length before getting here.
3000 I hope is close. Tried to count but couldn;t quite get a good count .Average I thought was 250 per # of logs
We’re getting 90$ a ton for precuts with 11 inch tops in East Texas
Do you pay your supplier based on your own scaling?
wood web has a log weight calculator and log volume calculator .i buy by the ton 50$ a tone and i sell pallet parts at ,75 per board foot
Similar here. You’re getting a little more on pallet parts!
If you want to learn how people up north scale logs go to Working Horses with Jim 😊
I'm surprised the truck driver didn't sweep the loose bark chippings off his trailer.
I don’t know much about sawmilling but I will guess 1980 board feet.
how did you come up with 141 board feet??
I see that boat you guys worked on for so long. Are or have you used it?
Almost finished. About to get back after it.
If the board ft is $280.00 per thousand at the saw mill, Any idea what the board ft price is generally offered to the land owner?
My guess is 2,631!!! 🤞
Why not buy you a scale stick, it would be faster and easier ?
👍
Hey guys. I’m guessing 2064F
Guessimate is roughly 1483 BF.
It's not clear which logs you are counting for the contest. But my guess is 1206.
My very uneducated guess is 1,692 Board feet!
No scaling stick?
Need to get me one. Been using tape for a while.

8 logs 18 ft length 16 inch dia. = 2000 board feet

Do you ever intend to train your son in sawmill business and if so at what age.
