A great sports car is nothing without a set of sticky tires..Just like a great projector is nothing without precise bulb alignment. Though the Morimoto Mini H1 projector has undoubtedly gotten better and better with every generation...even the latest 7.0 version still comes standard with the same old damn bulb holder. Sure, they work, but that doesn't mean they work well, at least well enough for all of us Headlight Junkies!

When shooting these demo videos, can you have a cameraman zoom in on what you’re trying to show us? Great video but just wish we could see a more up close demonstration.
I've been using the Holders for over 8 months now on my daily driver lifted truck, going off road and on ugly roads, and they still hold the bulbs great. Great beam hot spot and stability against vibrations. Very well worth buying for an H1 projector.
Great product I thought it was a waste of money till I saw it in action ill purchase these when I get my projectors.
Hi Matt, I just replaced my old no-brand projectors with your Acme Standard projectors, and also installed these MotoHo1ders with new XB H1 bulbs (the bulbs packaged in a long box with the pigtail already attached). While the holders should do a great job in eliminating movement and vibration of the bulb, they don't precisely locate the bulb. When the holder is snug, but not fully tightened, the bulb can still be moved up/down as well as rotated a small amount. The fitment of each of the 3 pieces is precise within themselves, but the fitment of the bulb in the middle part is not precise; I expected a better fit to the bulb.
I bought these holders to prevent the bulb from lowering in the stock holder, over time, and vibrating against the reflector, breaking the return wire insulator and causing a short (chronic problem with one of my old projectors). The new holders should fix that problem since I can push the bulb to its highest position, rotate to its center of rotation play, and finish tightening the holder.
I am giving you this feedback as an opportunity for further R&D to improve the precision of the center part of the MotoHo1ders, which are already a brilliant improvement over the spring wire retainer. Thank you for the effort to make the MotoHo1ders.
Hey T5 - thanks for sharing your input. Really odd that you had this issue...we'll have to check and see if there's something that changed with the ACME H1 projectors that causes the little issue you're having. We know that they work perfectly with the Morimoto H1 7.0 bi-xenons, but the last time we checked, no problem with ACME's. Wonder if something has changed!
The play is between the bulb base and the center piece of the MotoHo1der. The MotoHo1der fits the Acme projector perfectly, and the pieces of the MotoHo1der fit together perfectly. I will see if I can record the movement and upload it, and I will see if I can get a rough measurement of the play, since the housings are still out of the car. Perhaps I can get to this on Thursday; I will let you know.
I've always put the open end down through the holes and hooked the fingers in the hooks. Never had any issues. You mean to tell me I've been doing it backwards the whole time! 😂😂😂
lol, why yes you have!
For anyone wanting to zoom in: Windows has a built-in function called "Magnifier" - Search it, open it, change percentage to 200%, change Views to Lens.
Luckily my stock bulb holder is actually holding the bulb pretty well centered. Though I may still get the holders though. Looks pretty easy to install.
The stock ones aren't "bad" per se...but these are most definitely better.
The only thing that sucks about these is that the holder can’t accept the seal that comes with the bulb cables. When retro fitting vintage cars that don’t have large sealed housings that would go a long way.
That's good to know. Thanks for the feedback!
@@RetrofitSource You're welcome. I tried myself to pass this on to Morimoto back when they released these but never heard anything back. I don't know how much sway you have with them but as one of their authorized retailers maybe they would listen to you guys.
Any updated holders for the mini d2s yet?
Arvin Acebedo only issue I have with them is the spring is too small and can poke out of the back end of the lockring, just bend at end of the spring out slightly and problem solved. Other than that they work fine. MD2S 5.0 is coming this year so we will see.
md2s5.0 will be badass
I'm in love with my Mini H1 7.0 so much that I want to put it in all my cars... E46, E90 LCI, E60, GLK facelift. The BMWs are all stock bixenon but my MH1 7.0 definitely beat them!!!
Oh for sure, the Mini H1 7.0 is much more powerful, wider, brighter.
So will these for the mini h1 6.0?
I’m confused on the u shaped part #2. U said back of bulb but then they “drop” in? My hotspot is really bad since I installed these. Currently tightening the screws and hopefully I figure it out as it’s really bugging me that the hotspot is now too low….
We can have someone walk you through this, reach out to our support team!

Would I need to take my entire lights apart again to install thees motoholders on my projector. My cutoff isn't the sharpest right now and I'm trying to find out how to fix it and was wondering if this would do the trick
No, You should be able to install these right on the back without opening the headlights up.
@@RetrofitSource thanks for the quick reply. I just ordered a pair the other day. Hopefully it'll solve my issues with my current lights, Morimoto Mini H1 7.0 with Morimoto HID kit 5500k.
Will thee work on the 6.0 version?
yes they will
I can’t seem to get these to sit on the bulb, are you supposed to have them sit on the bulb with the side that’s smooth or the side that has holes and gaps?
Michael - the side with the notch on the surface goes over the face of the bulb. Get ahold of us at support@theretrofitsource.com with some photos and we can help that way.
TheRetrofitSource Inc yes thank you for your post I installed the retainer part with the screws backwards haha.
The MH1 7.0 is a wonderful piece of equipment here. Well worth the money. I am shocked at how wide and clean the beam pattern is.
On a 4 lane highway my drivers side bulb can hit the median with clarity 3 lanes away.
Mini H1 7.0 + XB 5500k bulb + Hylux 45W ballasts = yum!!
Can't seem to find these on the TRS site and the link below goes to a 404?
Sorry about that, here's a link: www.theretrofitsource.com/morimoto-mini-h1-moto-hol1der.html
That works. Thanks!
I must be doing something wrong cause my bulb shakes a bit and i can't turn it anymore. I did put the hook upwards and the back piece is flat..... ugh gotta go back into them bitches, damn.... lol
Ps got anything better for the 4TL? The connector thing is a little pain to align and twist on the D2S bulbs. Not that its worst than the H1 connectors thing just to try to simplify it a bit more.
Nothing special for the 4TL-R unfortunately. What bulbs are you using with the MotoHolders that they shake? or did you get it fixed?
@@RetrofitSource Haven't gone back to it just yet as I'm still working on a new retro project but I am using morimoto H1 bulbs. I cant get the u-shape to click into the groove. It always pops off when I twist the back of it.
I drop a clip every time I change out my bulbs, then would have to remove my bumper to hunt for it. These holders look like it’ll save me some time from removing my bumper. 😂😂😂
Definitely will, much better than the little clips!
Stupid paper clips! Just another reason why the MotoHo1ders are awesome.
How do you shim bulbs with these holders?
You shouldn't need to, assuming the bulbs themselves are produced with accuracy
Just don't sell me those projectors that you put the lens on what appears to be a metal surface. I agree with the other poster that you should've zoomed in on the clip to let us see what you were talking about potty mouth.
Yeah, video demo fail. We will get closer next time!
