    I'm a plumber, researching pool systems for myself, and I have to say, you have made such a great video. Dispelling fears of the systems, you did so so so so well. Thank you! Xx

      You're very welcome. Feel free to ask any other questions and if I am able to help I'd be happy to.. if you're going to be building a pool for yourself or having a pool built make sure that if you've got a skimmer, main drain and vacuum lines don't join them all into One Singular line. If you got four points of suction just have four valves for suction control and isolation

    That 90 degree elbow immediately before the pump intake is a major (and common) plumbing error. Your pump installation manual calls for a length of STRAIGHT INTAKE LINE a MINIMUM of 5x the pipe diameter. So in order to avoid turbulent flow restriction for 2” pipe you need at least 10 inches. This is especially important with the system in this video with crazy long run lengths, tons of valves and 90 degrees turns. Much of the efficiency of the variable speed pump is negated as these restrictions add up

      @poolbritekonahawaii1265  Рік тому

      Aloha, technically you are absolutely right! Sometimes there are space restrictions and with variable speed pumps where you can control the flow rate of water it's less of an issue than if you're using a single speed pump. The fact that this particular pump room is about 20 ft below the pool offers a constant positive head pressure pressure aiding the prime and flow for this pump. There's no question however that 90° or any angles will reduce the flow efficiency in circulation.

    Wow! Thank you for your response - dang I have homework! Seriously thank you for your response and advice. I really appreciate the tip about pool plumbing troubleshooting i.e., start and end at the pump.
    I brush and net the swimming pool daily and sometimes twice a day; I periodically check the floater, which houses the two-(2) chlorine tablets and they usually last about ten-(10) days until they're the size of a quarter. The pool was looking great until the heavy rainfalls and more important family life matters required my full attention. However, since posting my video I have done the following over the last week or two;
    Thursday, 21 June 2018, added approximately one pound of Suncoast Stabilizer Conditioner [caked and dried due to the container was cracked on the lid] to the swimming pool
    Wednesday, 20 June 2018, added water to the swimming pool at the appropriate level
    Tuesday, 19 June 2018 added one-(1) package of granular Pool Essentials Pool Shock; added two-(2) chlorine tablets
    Monday, 18 June 2018, I attempted to clear the pool's suction pipe with the Cobra Drain Bladder; the Bladder got stuck and came apart - thankfully I was finally able to remove it from the skimmer/suction/vacuum pipe
    Sunday, 17 June 2018, poured two-(2) gallons of Pool Essentials Chlorinated Liquid into the swimming pool
    Saturday, 16 June 2018, added one-(1) to two-(2) pounds of calcium hardness [sadly the four-(4) pound container's seal was cracked and the humidity transformed it into gelatin]; added one-(1) package of granular Pool Essentials Pool Shock;
    Friday, 15 June 2018, cycled through the pool plumbing system to waste, recirculate and filtration
    Thursday, 14 June 2018, added one-(1) package of granular Pool Essentials Pool Shock
    Wednesday, 13 June 2018, from 0710hrs to 0800hrs, added one-(1) package of granular Pool Essentials Pool Shock; added water and cycled through the backwash, rinse and switched back to filtration; from 1330hrs to 1430hrs, with sand filter valve set to backwash I added water while vacuuming; 1615hrs to 1645hrs, poured one-(1) gallon of Pool Essentials Chlorinated Calcium-Free liquid
    Tuesday, 12 June 2018, 0930hrs to 1030hrs cycled through the backwash, rinse and filter with the swimming pool pump

      Your secret ingredient will be the yellow treat or trine. Don't blindly add chems it could make things worse. Adding conditioner should only be done if you have less than 20 or 30ppm "Pentair, water hardness test" comes in a little blue rectangular box. Test the hardness and then call me. 808 960 1026.

    If the spider gasket was broken and the manufacturer no longer produce it, does it mean I have to buy a new filter?

    • @poolbritekonahawaii1265
      @poolbritekonahawaii1265  4 роки тому

      What type of filter do you have? It would be rare for a person have to buy a new filter just because the spider gasket isn't working. I'm very sorry for the delay in getting back to you somehow I missed your text

    Is it true there is no liquid chlorine for pool maintenance in Hawaii?

    • @poolbritekonahawaii1265
      @poolbritekonahawaii1265  4 роки тому

      As far as we are aware there, is no liquid chlorine anywhere in the state with exception to what you can buy in gallon jugs they don't apply liquid chlorine to pools here like they do in the mainland. Rumors have it that that technique is going to be illegal in the next several years.

    • @profighter1234
      @profighter1234 6 років тому

      I don't cry. I see too many 90 degree angles which all should have been 45's before and after a 180. Way more efficiency, less wear-n-tear on your equipment and cheaper electric bills. Also, I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE. Not sure where you came up with that one.

    • @poolbritekonahawaii1265
      @poolbritekonahawaii1265  6 років тому

      Aloha, yes your right about the 45's and the technicality of that, although it simply isn't done in the field very often. Rarely if ever...here in any case. Also to your point, TECHNICALLY a DE filter would have been the best filtering medium because TECHNICALLY it will filter out a much smaller particle. That being said you simply won't see the variation between a sand filter and a DE filter if the pool in general is well balanced. So, the point your making are good ones, just not feasible most of the time. (45's increase the distance/space required to plumb a room) And again, the savings your suggested will be so minute it isn't worth trying to track. Especially when a variable speed pump is concerned. Have a great day out there~

    • @profighter1234
      @profighter1234 6 років тому

      Appreciate your well thought out response and I agree with most. Over time, the 45's will save you a ton of money and they do not have to create a large amount of space increase. Have a great day and keep up the great work.

  • @DontNeedToKnow84

    Why would you pump unfiltered water to the chlorinator?

    • @poolbritekonahawaii1265
      @poolbritekonahawaii1265  7 років тому

      DontNeedToKnow84
      Aloha in this case it was just easier to work with rather than trying to Plumb everything over head. The volume of water however that is bypassing the filter is inconsequential.

    • @poolbritekonahawaii1265
      @poolbritekonahawaii1265  6 років тому

      The amount of water that actually bypassing the filter is not an amount that plays any part in the clarity of the water and you can go one way or the other when you're talking about that amount of water bypass. For this particular setup it just worked the easiest. Again we're talking about a 1 inch column of water bypassing the filter. Thanks for your question I am very sorry that we didn't respond to you earlier.

    • @frankwiddifield7520
      @frankwiddifield7520 4 роки тому

      I would fire my plumbers for plumbing a chlorinator before a filter. "Only 1" of column." Research turnover vs actual filtration. And I love the 90 kissing that suction union when there plenty of room for a 8" nipple.
