@@Adventureman_Dan we are already planning our first kayak trip, a one day trip going around 10 miles along side the island of Kauai. I live over here in Hawaii and my brother and both of my friends we’re all learning how to dive. We’re all starting to push just around 50ft and trying to slowly extend our bottom times. The last three dives we have been calling in UKU(green job fish) and both times we have had the opportunity for a shot our guns have jammed 😂 on top of that we keep getting sharked out. That’s a big learning curve just being comfortable protecting our catch from sharks. Anyways thank you for the awesome video, I heard about you from the noob spearo podcast.

I love spear fishing but I can’t hold my breath for long meaning I can’t go deep enough to get any good fish
Keep at it. The more you go the better you will get. Plus there are plenty of good fish to be found in under 30ft.
Keep at it. You can practice to increase your dive time. Or if you got a few hundred bucks I seen some people use these small breathing devices that give you like 10 minutes. Not sure how they refill them though for more dives.
Beautiful story highly recommend more of these storys i was really touched by this good stuff mate!

Your sense of adventure is inspiring , your respect for the ocean is compelling and your editing is world class. Unfortunately, there will be few that will not receive your message and these beautiful locations will become a mecca for fish slaughter..

Haha, yea some of them can be dramatic. But remember that the risk of loss of life is pretty high in a breath holding sport where there are much bigger and hungrier things lurking.

the head can be eaten also by lightly frying after marinating with a paste made up of chillies & herbs and then boiling it to make into a fish-head soup = tasty👍🏾

At the 6.00 minute mark in the back ground you can see a white sandy hill.. directly out from there a good 3-500meters there’s a snapper ground that has the biggest snappers on the planet you get broken of by 50-80 pound snappers (cape Maria van diemen)
A 50lb snapper would be way more than the current world record or NZ record. We will see when I go back there. :)
Adventureman Dan there’s an old photo of a snapper caught in a net in Napier I forget the weight but it was longer than a 6ft man.. try find an old fishing program that aired back in the 90s called Nissan panther finder gone fishing the guys name was graham he was in a wheel chair. Was his fishing show. They where pulling up 40 pounders one after the other and getting broken off by much much bigger they were saying they can’t give the spot away but I pin pointed the spot.

For sure a cool area mate. I scaled down the cliffs near there. But did not come back for a dive. Far out place. Real rugged.
Adventureman Dan most the big big breeder snappers that breed the big gene snapper have been taken.. but along that rugged west coast where it’s in accessible for a boat there I think Your’ll find the record snapper!! When are you over again next.. I’ll take you out in the boat Manukau harbour through and around piha.!!!
