In my humble opinion that body style is one of, it not the best, ergonomically designed guitars ever. It's just so comfortable to play from a seated position it fits like a glove.
That's exactly how I felt about my Jaguar.
never had one, never played one, so you convinced me... Now I need one :P Thanks my man :)
Agreed
Its a beautiful design.
I have a sunburst 62 and yes just superb guitars with perfect ergonomics
"What is this?" Fucking beautiful! It looks like a cloud. Get in touch with Michael Adams (Puisheen) on UA-cam. He's an expert at vintage Jazzmasters. Tip for the tremolo: push it in all the way and it will "click" and stay in place
It would be great to see Matthew do a follow up video with Puisheen
i second this. mike is a VERY helpful guy. talked to him many times. he's on instagram too, same username.
Amen
Was just about to post this. Mike’s videos rock. A ton of great info about setting these up. A lot of misunderstanding about setting these up. Mike has some great resources to help make that thing play amazingly!
@@BeantownToBigD That would be a cool collab
Riviera Paradise was so relaxing so good so jazzy with that Jazzmaster even the reverb ahh 😍
Well done Mr.Scott✌🎼😉
Thank you. Even though that was tough to play on the jazz👍🏻
Get in touch with Pusheen. Offset guitars are his focus. He's working on them all the time. Any chance he can get to gush about them is worth hearing out. Plus he is a good tech for one of the most elaborate wiring harnesses Fender ever made.
He is the Jazzmaster master!
Just get Puisheen involved, out of mutual respect. ;-)
Matthew: "It's a nice neck, kind of that '66 - you know - chunky shape"
Me, who has never seen a vintage guitar irl: "I know exactly what you mean"
Haha, I know! I love watching videos of vintages guitars but I have no idea what any of the neck profiles mean. I did have a chance to try a Fender Vintera 50s tele, and it really did feel like a "baseball bat" as they say, so chunky lol. That's why I think the Vintera series was such a genius idea, it let's people experience more time accurate specs to so that people can have a better idea of what they like.
@@AnonymousSam the vintera guitars aren’t even true to spec in that regard.
Try a fender American original 60s strat, those have the correct neck measurements. I was shocked when i got mind and put my hand around the neck. If you would have blindfolded me and gave me the guitar, I would have guessed that I’m holding a Louisville slugger 😆
I think somebody is about to fall in love with the great tone of the Jazzmaster, do the follow up brother, would love to see it, I am a Jazzmaster fan and built one for myself as well
I was thinking the same thing! I even have a new can of Stew Mac Sonic Blue. Now track down a good body?
Have to agree
@@cowtowncustoms2110 Looks good the way it is.
I have a 1974 JM all switches knobs pots work amazingly. I think just getting educated on this underrated instrument is really beneficial . enjoy that beauty
This is one of the coolest looking guitars i’ve ever seen. It still amazes me how you manage to find such beautiful instruments everytime, your channel is truly a masterpiece. Cheers from Argentina mate!
America
Must be some luck involved! 🙏🏻
It amazes me how he seems to score vintage equipment without having any discernible employment…
Except Patreon contributions.
Must be nice… we wouldn’t know.
Perhaps in one of his videos he’d explain this anomaly.
Obviously for 2 years it wasn’t gigging.
Rich parents?
An abnormally high contribution count?
If some previous video explains it… feel free to link.👍
Curious indeed.🎸👍🥃
Yes, a follow up video would be awesome. That guitar has more to say.
that intro had me from the strat. great stuff, man!
Dude you gotta get in touch with Puisheen here on UA-cam. He’s the biggest fender offset expert out there and can certainly tell you exactly what you’ve got on your hands. Not to mention he seems like the nicest dude on the planet.
That Jazzmaster got J. Mascis vibe to it...
I enjoy your old guitar and amp safaris, live gig footage is always a treat too!
That’s an amazing find, I can’t wait to hear it once you get it all cleaned and fixed up!
Have to say, I just like this young man and what he’s doing with the channel.
You like young men? 🌈
Hell yeah, I’m not a huge jazzmaster guy, but anytime I get to learn about an old fender guitar I’m down it.
She sounds great and she looks absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful guitar and a very special looking as well. Love it 🔥
Edit: Please, please do the follow-up!
These vlog style / guitar videos are my favourite type of videos
Always love your videos.Your calm and pleasant demeanor is a blessing.Really enjoy your sound with any guitar.I hope that soon you will be in a situation to make videos more often.Thank u for all you do.
Beautiful guitar. Hell Yes we want a follow up on this one! Love the Sonic blue, the bound board and the block inlays. Sounded sweet too.
Thanks Matthew for the well documented and consistent vids on vintage guitars!
Matthew starts in on a few chords from 60s guitar groups... my heart skips a beat... oh, please, Matt. More of that!!! Also, for any who aren't already aware, there's a nice album out by Bill Frisell called Guitar in the Space Age that evokes the essence of those years and guitar hits.
I love watching your adventures! As always, amazing playing!
That is a very beautiful Fender Jazzmaster. Sonic blue with matching headstock . Great color. Love your channel. Stay safe and well and keep Rocking. Signed John Gregory Zepbass from Munster Indiana.
.
Beautiful guitar, sweet tones and great playing. Thank you, again.
Matthew Scott!! Great job..your love for the instruments is a beautiful thing!! Excellent job
Well you teased a great sound out of what is working so far. The neck looks excellent. Its probably the first time I have appreciated this model. Many thanks.
Beautiful guitar. Hope to see future videos on it. It is always interesting to look into the background of a guitar. Thanks for the content.
Enjoyed! Looking forward to follow-up. Always enjoy your posts Mathew! Interesting channel with a great approach to appreciating the instruments. Thanks.
More Jazzmaster please! One of the most underrated guitars on the planet . The variety of tones alone make this one of my favorite slabs.
The nod to SRV was tasty and appreciated.
That's a real nice example of that certain style guitar. A piece of art that you can play. Cant wait to see you open it up.
It sounds amazing! Some Deoxit would clear out the iffy pots/switches pretty quick.
The rhythm circuit disables the bridge pickup and allows separate tone/volume controls with different cap/pot values for a darker sound for the neck pickup. Pretty useful for its original design, but nobody plays jazz on them.
MAN! FROM THE CAT CAME BACK TO THE SHADOWS RIGHT INTO SRV TO DICK DALE! I COULD LISTEN TO YOU FOR DAYS! AWESOME!
Amazing video. Im already waiting for the next one with this beautiful guitar. Please do more. Authentication, tones, whatever you want. I love it
como é possível alguém dar dislike em um vídeo do Matthew. ele é o brabo, guitarra top
Its okay. If you don't have people who dislike what you do, you're not trying hard enough👍🏻
@@MatthewScottmusic would be interresting to know what they dislike about your Videos.
Gorgeous sounding guitar, man! I love jazzy-sounding Fenders. Very nice video, thanks.
I’m so happy to hear you got a jazzmaster!!! It’s my favorite electric personally. I would love to see more videos of this guitar. That color is amazing and that tone is very special. ❤️
You epitomized the Jazzmaster tone with that setup. Sent me right back to the swingin' 60s.
Cool that you went ahead & grabbed this one. Take us inside, show use the date on the neck, the router marks in the pickup cavities.
I love to see you save all of these guitars. Especially this one!! I have heard so many amazing tones from these. I would love to see what you can do with this beauty
That's a lovely guitar: they are the alfa romeo of guitars, quite a bit of work to get all the parts working well together.... but when they do, you're hooked. Once you get used to their quirks, it's not a big deal and seeing as they are so idiosyncratic tone wise, well worth the effort. #1 guy for good info on offsets is Mike Adams' channel
I'd love to see more of this one! It's a beauty! 😁
awesome to see a jazzmaster on here. i don't know much about them myself so i'd love some follow up videos. even with its issues i think this thing sounds so cool already. can't wait to hear you play more with it
You have such positive energy watching also gives me positive energy
Another great video Matthew keep them coming mate I enjoy every one of them 👊
Very cool! Congrats! Would love to see more!
Love it!.. really enjoying your channel!

Your playing always so cool, and tone is really amaizing!
Great buy! Fantastic addition to your collection.
Man that is a gorgeous sounding guitar, nice one 👍🏼👍🏼
Dang. Now I need one for myself! That thing is magical sounding.
First of all, that looks like a great little town that you visited. Second, you are an excellent detective to scout out these old gems. Faded sonic blue is nice!
Love to see progress with this thanks 👍
Great playing. Nice to hear some different flavors.
Finally a Jazzmaster, thanks for picking one up and doing this video! Looking forward to the follow up video!
I enjoy every video you do! Definitely want to hear more!
Hell yeah man! Let's get a series of videos going on this beauty
Sounds and looks great! I'd Like to see more details on the guitar. The video series on that gibson was great. Video series like these are a great format for this channel.
Very cool your playing was awesome.
Taking a spin in the ole' serial killer van. 😄👍🏻
Cool Jazzmaster! Really cool! 🙂👍🏻
Fantastic demos as always
Sounds amazing dude! Very atmospheric
Loving every video! Can't wait for your records, would love to see a little behind the scenes in the studio etc, just like with "mirrors" and "are we all the same". Also would love to see and hear your lovley olympic white strat ;)
Looks amazing. Keep em coming
I love everythginbaoubt this video,..mixing the road tripping with the finding the venire axes si awesome,.cant wait to see where this goes.
amazing❗️
good sound‼️
Thank you for always great videos.
from japan
Nice guitar and your playing was very enjoyable.
Please more videos on this piece! I love this instrument.
The Jazzmaster is just the perfect guitar in my opinion. Best vibrato on any guitar model by a long shot. The single coils have such a unique sound. Plus they just look Awesome.
Living the dream! Good on ya, mate.
Love these cool old guitars.
Beautiful guitar. Follow-up video is a must. Thanks as always.
One of the greatest electric blues musicians of all time played a jazzmaster. Mr magic slim. Learned to play guitar after he cut one of his fingers off which ended his piano career.
Very cool. Looking forward to follow up
Great video and what a find!
I love my Vintage Modified Squier Jazzmaster. It sits on my lap and balances perfectly when I play, the input jack is in the perfect spot, and the tremolo is just so smooth and lovely sounding. Can't wait to see more.
Can't wait to see you take it apart.
It looks great and sounds amazing!
That is a beautiful guitar no matter if it’s a refin or not. I always enjoy vintage matching headstock guitars. And it sounds twice as good I’d say. Very cool guitar Mattew, I hope to see more videos with it in the near future.
I took the van cause I wasn't sure how many I was going to get.. you never know :) Excellent sounding Jazzmaster !!
Can pretty much promise we want a follow up video on any guitar you pick up, that’s why we’re here :)
Great Video+Great Vintage Guitar+Great Player= Sickass Channel and Content
Before you started playing that song, I was thinking that the guitar had fantastic surfer tone. Love it!
Fellow Okie in the metro area, super dig the channel. Dope, man.
Thank you for test driving your new Jazzmaster acquisition. Looks really cool. My friend of many years ago had one, and he could make it scream. Looking forward to seeing more of your Jazzmaster.
Love jazzmasters. They are amazing. Waiting for another episode with this one))
Super jealous! But what a great find and absolutely love that color, I hope you keep it.
Very cool..
I seen that Riviera Paradise thing u did...
I will be watching for history and authenticity of this one.. 🙋♂️
What would be AWESOME is a follow up video on how you, as a strat player, are getting from the jazzmaster, how it differs from strat/telly on all levels. I would love hearing you on that as I've been hesitant about the jazzmaster yet curious. Also, I think you can actually achieve a great jazz tone using the rythm circuit. Would be nice if you found it.
Cheers, great color that sonic blue!
Totally agree. It'd be interesting to hear his thoughts on the jazzmaster vs strats. I just sold off my strat and am thinking about buying a jazzmaster or a tele.
You're so lucky to be living in the USA. There seems to be so many vintage guitars for decent money. Greetings from Switzerland. - Great playing and great guitar.
ahhh man the low end is soooo smooth
Man...I appreciate that one.....rock on brother and yes let's see more !
Sounds amazing!
Really excited for the album!
That guitar is so eternally cool! How did you determine that it was a refin, and if the headstock was refinished, how did they work around the original decal?
This is my dream jazzmaster. Has been for years and years. I'd like to have a custom shop with these exact specs made one day. Amazing find.
Sounds gorgeous!
Nice looking JM! I love those guitars, super comfortable to play.
That thing is so darn cool, love it!
