    That sounds fantastic.
I played Eric's Blackie in the 1980s, he used our rehearsal facility at Shepperton studio's UK, as did many other top artists like the Stones and Black Sabbath. My friend was his guit tech (for over 30 years) and asked me to play a guitar whilst he messed with a guitar synth (after rehearsals) that Roland had given Eric.
He passed me Blackie and plugged it up.
Some awful noises were happening and couldn't appreciate its real sound, but I was totally lost and on cloud 9. The set up was just spectacular and seemed to play itself, didn't need my right hand. Then I realised his 59 LP Burst was there amongst the 10 guitars sitting in a semi circle, so HAD to play that too.
    I was extremely fortunate✌️🇬🇧

Love hardtails. I have a 74 hardtail that I got for my 12th birthday in 1976. It was in the store, for two years, still brand new; nobody wanted it. It's not as cool as this 57, obviously, but it's still my favorite guitar.

I have a 2021 Squire stop tail. It is thin and it is cheap and I LOVE it! Don't get me wrong, I love tremolo.....but there is just something special about a stop tail. I should put new pickups and new tuners, but I didn't. I just did a set up and worked the frets and fingerboard, and I put a small pin-up sticker on it. Boom!!!!

Dave's Guitar Shop '57 Strat in in Taos Turquoise has the desert sand primer coat that you can see. Clapton's body was '56 with '56 plastics, which is why his knobs and covers are still white. Yours appears to have the newer formulation covers (probably with more butadiene in the ABS mix) and leftover "'56" knobs. There was a Strat featured on Norman's Rare Guitars channel recently with the same thing.

  • @VonBluesman
    @VonBluesman Рік тому +3

Matthew, the grey primer was the standard automotive color of primer paint. The guitar and your playing sounds great. You always find cool guitars and amps. The prices have gone through the roof in the last three years, a 65 strat cost what a 57-59 did several years ago.

I never tried a hardtail, but I think the great cavity inside the trad Strat impacts on the way the thing behaves when you plug it in.. Even when you block the trem.. It just has a different touch sensitivity, maybe its bollocks but I think said cavity (people are surprised 1st time they see a Strat body senza plastico, if you will allow.. Cool demo as ever. Nice one Matthew! 🌟🎶👍

A friend of mine has a refin Black 57. One of the best sounding Strats I’ve ever played. I wanted to tell you, another friend that I’ve lost touch with had a 1958 Pink Sunburst Strat, (he moved back to Chicago years ago). It was a special order from Fender a girl originally ordered. About the ugliest finish I ever saw. It was black on the outside edge, then went to pink and then white in the center. It was one of a kind and I’m sure it would be worth a fortune now. He bought it in the late 70’s real cheap, I think $500 back then. I was a Vintage Guitar Dealer so I’ve had many pre-CBS Strats. I have a few vintage Strats left but I’m not in such great health and don’t Gig or perform anymore. I enjoy your shows and your equip. We’re on the same page.

Thanks for the nod to the old reissue Strats of 1982. My '57 reissue, also in black, is from 1983, made at the Fender Fullerton factory. Sadly, the necks from these early-early reissues are nothing like true 1957 guitars. Fender went with what they thought would be much more accepted for the '80s. But all those reissues from that time (Tele, Strat (2), P-Bass (2) and Jazz Bass) were definitely iimportant guitars as Fender-CBS finally acknowledged that players wanted old looks and features from the classic years.

Looking forward to your album, I hope the album is not overly worked and processed and allows for the true tone and sounds of your playing and guitars/vintage amps to come through as they do on your You Tube video's. From my point of view some of the best albums I have heard are the ones that have been recorded with a raw live feel; mainly recorded with room mics. For example the latest ZZ Top album called RAW.

Look forward to seeing the tear down. I don't care for black and I don't care for that kind of checking. I'd refinish it in whatever color it was originally in good lacquer that checks properly. Traveled to Manny’s in NYC in 1979 to buy a new Strat, it was a sienna sunburst hard tail! Yes, I let it get away. No fore sight!

Thru your cookin' amp, that sounds phenomenal, man!
It looks so rad, too! The way it "relicc'ed"...so great - the checking
..and the forearm.wear thru patch....you got a good 'un.
And the hard tail is ALL gravy to be, man!
Strat Trems are barely worth the squeeze.. Getting that stronger toan when you hammer-strum it, the Toaan is noticeable...it's the first thing I noticed - before I knew it was a hardtail.
    Fkn GLORIOUS, lad!
    'Grats. 🤘
